Will our protagonists ever be able to make their feelings for one another clear, despite misunderstandings and the interruptions and interference of their classmates and that stupid homeroom teacher?

Find out in this installment!

I don't know who among the Manga Bookshelf crew wrote that this was a whole volume of payoff (because I read them via LJ feed unless I want to comment), but that's exactly what it is - the culmination of the developing love among insecurity and miscommunication (from both sides) of Sawako and Shota.

And because this series at its core is the developing of the shy duckling Sawako into a courageous swan, appreciated by everyone, not just Kazehaya, we have some very moving confessions from her side, even without being totally sure that Kazehaya shares her feeling.

But when he does ^^, well...
Okay, the setting of this climax of the last ten volumes amid the class at the cultural festival at school may have been over the top for a real life love story, but it has the great advantage to bring in the tension of two people wanting to concentrate on each other amidst all the claims on their time and therefore nervousness that is even real life inherent in a declaration of love ("Joe" is all I need to mention, I'm sure).

Because Shiina has carefully developed both lovers, Kazehaya is actually conscious that his habit of keeping his deepest feelings to himself - away from everyone, even Ryu - will NOT work when facing Sawako and her unfamiliarity with the average teenage behaviourisms. She won't be able to believe, because she has seen herself as so unworthy for so long, so he has to make it totally obvious (we do get the day after here, too - and all the people at school who can't believe the truth or think Sawako might have misled Kazehaya) - so he actually becomes poetic, and open even with with the whole school watching (and gets the mickey taken out of that scene the next day in front of the whole class, of course... this is a school with teenagers...).

He heroically bears up under this, because he knows how fragile the understanding is until Sawako is sure enough of her own worth to be somewhat confident that she is being loved by him(papering her room and the bath with stickers how the confession hasn't been a dream is one way she deals with this herself).

We also get Kurumi dealing with both being together, which I particularly like. This is just the start of being together with your loved one - the first steps haven't even be taken yet. There is a reason why this manga still goes on, because this is as realistic a teenage love as highly idealised shoujo will offer.

As Kazehaja says in his internal monologue at the most important spread in the volume - his feelings have finally reached Sawako. Reaching you - was his aim. That's the title a scanlation team used to translate Kimi ni Todoke with, and I expect that's the meaning the mangaka actually wanted to convey in the title.

Can we just take a moment to say we are FINALLY here?

That what I have been EAGERLY wanting the past ten volumes FINALLY happened?

*moment of silence*

BUT JOE!!! *flips table*

HOW DARE HE RUIN THE MOMENT!!!

I was so angry and upset about that that I had to put the book down and just take some time to breathe BECAUSE I HAVE WAITED SO LONG FOR THAT AND HOW DARE HE MESS IT UP!!!!

*deep breaths*

But seriously, this is why I have read all the angst and all the drama to get to this point.

And it was worth it.

Every. Single. Moment.

I laugh at Pin because he really does like to give Kazehaya a hard time! LOL! Though he might have meant a certain thing as a joke, I LOVED the direction it went. I truly hope that is a foreshadowing! <3

And oh how far Sawako has come!! She IS so sweet and just love how kind of a soul she is!

Kurumi seems to maybe have changed? I admit I still want her out the series and saw she's on the cover of the upcoming volume so hopefully she HAS changed and I'll come to maybe like her character.

But for now, I'm just going to bask in the sweetness of this volume because it's what I've been hoping for! <3 <3 <3

FINALLY!!! this is what I came here for! I stan this so much!!! Healthy relationships that are all about communication and clearing things up!!!

I feel like a proud mother lol. I’ve really seen these characters grow up! It was such a struggle for them but they made it!

Honestly I could just stop here and feel 98% satisfied. This makes reading through all the prior miscommunications worth it.

5/5 Finally a nice solid volume with some solid plot progression and start of a new chapter and end of an old for the series.

Sawako and Shoto get past their awkwardness and confusion. It only took 10 volumes. Honestly you could probably end the series right here. This is right around where the anime ended as well.

Going in to the next arc should be interesting I hope it holds my interest as well as last 10 volumes. 1/3rd done.

Sawako and Shota on the cover in a half embrace. You couldn’t put anyone on this cover of this volume though.

FINALLY!
I've waited for them to finally do it and finally the time has come!
And that scene with Kurumi too I really like it, and seems... there's gonna be a new love line for the supporting characters.

I've finished till Volume 15 of the manga but of course this volume comprises the climax of the whole story.

I guess aside from the confessions made by Sawako and Shouta, I like how much this volume revealed a lot of character flaws. I appreciated that those sides of the characters were given to the readers as they not only made more conflict (for plot, of course) but it made the characters more believable and whom the readers can relate to.

Kazehaya Shota, from Kuronuma Sawako's point of view (whose POV we follow throughout the series) is a "refreshing" guy, the Mr. Popular whom is loved by both guys and girls, and someone she'd like to be. She eventually falls in love with him. I'm not so sure what happens to people in love, but surely her deeper feelings for Kazehaya caused Sawako to think so little of herself and find her image unfitting for the guy. This caused me to feel a bit frustrated since the story has revolved mostly around Sawako's gradual evolution from the gloomy, loner girl, better known as "Sadako" to "Kuronuma Sawako", the slightly different girl from the rest of mankind but someone who can actually teach high school idiots effectively and has a genuine concern for others. Her "one good deed a day" is actually admirable. Especially when you have to do everything alone, thus your efforts remaining unacknowledged. So when she discovered her true feelings for Kazehaya, it caused her to shrink her image of herself again which actually added layers to all the misunderstandings already served to the issue.

So in contrast to this image of Sawako to Shouta is actually a short-tempered guy with a jealous streak. Yes, Sawako, the popular guy has the hots for your since chapter one of volume one. Haha! What I like about Shouta is he actually knows his own short-comings. He does what he wants thus has caused Kuronuma to read some of his actions the wrong way. He also hates it if people (like Yoshida and Pin) try to interfere with his plan. Certainly not for his own strategies in getting the girl he likes. Honestly, if his friends never got in the way, he'd never understand Sawako. Without the other parties indirectly involved in his own dilemma, Sawako never could have confessed her real feelings to him.

So yeah, this volume had the right amount that bitter-sweet nostalgia of love that kept my heart a knot for several pages. Eventually, the escalation of feelings drops to a beautiful image of the two characters in an embrace.

Well FI-NA-LY! This is the moment we have all been waiting for, and ten volumes in, it finally happens!

That being said, with the emotional ups and downs of this series and of this volume in particular, the resolution to the main romance happens fairly quickly, given that there are shoujo mangas out there that hold off on the confession for more than 39 chapters.

It's nice to see all the previous misunderstandings cleared up, though, and furthermore the steps that are taken to prevent any further misunderstandings. It seems that our two main characters, after misunderstanding each other so badly, are adamant about not being misunderstood by anyone else. They make it clear what's going on from the get-go, and don't mind that others are starting to talk about them. I like that--it shows their strength as a couple even this early on.

There will definitely be more stuff to explore later on in the series, now that they've finally gotten together and won't have to be in pain because they don't know the other's feelings. Huzzah for feelings reaching out and being understood!

Curiously, despite this being a climactic issue as regarding Sawako & Shota's relationship, it didn't stand out as outstanding. Excellent, but not outstanding. Perhaps it was the pacing. Certainly, the payoff moment of ten volumes was handled well and did not disappoint, but the rest of the volume fell flat for me.

A 3.5-4 star- I deared something would happen which would have left me choosing to no longer read the series, but I was very happily surprised and am so thrilled that the characters continue to grow and move forward, take control.

I thought it was funny how Shouta told Sawako several times what he felt for her just to make sure that she actually understood it this time and it's not a misunderstanding like last time.

You can see that many people are happy about the new relationship between Sawako and Shouta, especially their close friends but also Kazuichi Arai, the teacher. Although it has not been shown yet, I can well imagine that the girls who now have no chance with Shouta will try to sabotage their relationship. But I am sure that the two will get through this, as they always do.

This manga series follows a girl called Kuronuma and she has the looks that would be perfect for a ghost in a horror movie, but everyone has her misunderstood. Through her friendship with the popular boy in class, Kazehaya, her classmates start to realise that she's not this feared figure that she is thought to be. Kuronuma has just realised her feelings for Kazehaya and is learning to deal with them and still maintain the friendship that she has with Kazehaya.

THIS VOLUME IS SO CUTE! It marks the changing point in the relationship between Kazehaya and Kuronuma because they try to correctly convey their feelings to each other. Add to that the school knowing their business and Kurumi, and you could possibly see the future conflicts the couple could have. But even though this volume presents everything that the reader could want, it doesn't feel as sweet as it could be... so I feel like trouble will be brewing soon.

I loved this volume, this series and everything. I can't wait to read what happens next! After volume 11, I have no idea what is going to happen next because the anime stops there and I am so excited to see what the future holds for my favourite characters!

After all the misunderstandings and self doubts, the two finally get together. I was thinking it would happen later in the series but I am glad they are finally being clear about their feelings and that school for the most part is okay with it.

Not that they need approval. Reading this, makes me not miss high school because everyone is in each other business and influencing each other. It makes me want to say 'please butt out and mind your business.'

This manga does remind me of "Say I love You' by the protagonist being an outsider but learns friendship and love after becoming friends with the most popular guy in the school.

I wonder how their relationship will progress. First love is always the hardest.
