The cool hand of winter settles in over the town of Hawk's Landing and brings with it a killer. Hiding among the quiet mountain landscape, he begins his reign of terror.
The dust has settled on Savage's tainted past as he puts to rest the demons of his previous life. Putting the mile-high city in his rearview, he returns to the place he now calls home to care for his budding family and the town he serves. Unfortunately, for the stalwart lawman, nothing is ever that simple.
A trail of blood on the icy ground leads to a gruesome discovery. What at first appears to be an animal attack quickly proves otherwise. The killer's brutal methods send a shockwave through the tight-knit community. As another victim falls prey to the killer's rampage, a pattern emerges. Worse, he's just getting started.
As the bodies drop, Savage must team with an FBI agent who's been hunting him for several years. These violent sprees occur in remote locations and always begin at the start of winter, thus earning him the nickname The Frost Killer.

Sheriff Savage finds a dead body of a young woman badly mauled and it's deemed an animal attack - until FBI Agent Avril Dahl informs him that it is the work of The Frost Killer who will murder again. The killer has never been caught so will Savage be able to find him before he kills again. A mind boggling thriller with unprecedented twists. A well crafted plot which is a page turner.
If you are looking for something to read, this is it. While I was waiting for one of my regular authors to write another book I fell on this series about a sheriff at Hawk’s Landing by the name of Dalton Savage, a tough sheriff who seem to get shot a lot. It’s a good read. ENJOY!
I love the Dalton Savage character. Actually, all the characters in this amazing series are relatable and warm. The series is exciting, breath-taking, and pulse-pounding. This book is no different - even more riveting then you can imagine. Our authors have outdone themselves. Exceptional. Highly Recommended. I received this book from the authors and this is my honest review.
For anyone who enjoys a gripping murder, mystery thriller, a story that keeps you on the edge of your seat and guessing, from the beginning to the end, then this book is a must. Biba Pearce and L.T Ryan are a brilliant writing combination and, although this book is totally a standalone, I would urge reading the series in sequence to get the most enjoyment. When Dalton Savage, Sheriff of Hawk's County, was called out to a remote barn where the body of a young woman had been found, little did he know that it was the start of a sequence of horrifying events that would bring terror to the residents of sleepy Hawk's County. When FBI Special Agent, Avril Dahl, turns up at the station, what was thought to be a tragic accidental death turns into something much more sinister and as the death toll escalates Dalton and his brilliant team know that they have a Battle on their hands, a battle that they must win but also a battle against time, a pattern has emerged that puts fear into their hearts. I love how the authors paint a picture of the beautiful mountain scenery and the snow, I could practically feel the cold. I love how they have made Dalton and his partner Becca believable, I could feel her frustration, I could feel her loneliness, I could feel the fear she had when Dalton was in danger but I could also feel the love that she had for Dalton and their baby son. Dalton loves Becca and Connor but his loyalty is divided, he feels sadness that he is neglecting his family but he also knows that he has a killer to catch, a killer who leaves no evidence, a killer who has a unique MO, a killer who has a long history, a killer who will continue killing beautiful blonde women........will Dalton once more put his life on the line ? I loved this story and it's wonderful characters and I look forward to meeting them again in the next book in the series. I received a free copy of this book and my review is voluntary.
“A Stupendous and Addictive read!” “I just love Biba Pearce and her books as you are always sure to get a real great thriller and storyline!” This is book four in the Dalton Savage thrillers and as the title says when a dead blond and pretty woman is found mauled high up in isolated mountains. It is believed her death is related to a large animal attack. The only mitigating fact and mystery is she wasn’t suitably dressed for such cold harsh weather. Once confirmed that she had died from Hypothermia froze to death then mauled, case closed. That is until FBI agent Dahl arrives and notifies Dalton that this fits a profile of a serial killer they have been tracking for 15 years, called “The Frost Killer” which had originally started in Stockholm; with only four killings before the killer disappears until the following year when he kills again. Always the same pattern where the body is left drugged to freeze to death, staged and always his calling card left on the body. Sounding farfetched and not fitting the profile Dalton is not convinced of the connection between his body and the FBI agent’s killer. That is until a second, then a third body turn up and suddenly all three do fit the profile. It also transpires all three also do have the killer’s calling card being a paper cut pendant on the dead bodies. Then when his and the killers fourth victim goes missing a race against time to save and bring the killer to justice. Without giving away to much the storyline the suspects and the ending just make you keep reading until the explosive ending! Wow such a “Stupendous and Addictive read!” I highly recommended it.
The first 265 or so pages were well written: suspense, 3-dimensional characters and a solid plot line. Then (spoiler alert) on the denouement with the bad guy the clumsiness and rank amateurishness of the lines dealing with firearms were downright flinchworthy!! The sound of a semi-automatic pistol recycling is so fast and follows so closely to the firing of the round as to be indistinguishable from the roar of the fired bullet! And the bad guy didn't have time to load another round? It happens automatically; hence the name. The odds of a misfire? Barely worse than my chance of winning Megabucks! And then the sheriff was too close for the bad guy to hit him? Please tell me how that happens?
I thought I remembered you using Massoud Ayoub as your firearms consultant? That fight scene would never have passed muster with him! Such a shame that a well-written book should fall off the rails so badly. The scene needed more work and the failure to perform it ruined an otherwise above-average story. And when you fail t stick the ending everyone knows!
With a Name Like Dalton Savage... Being a huge fan of L.T. Ryan's Rachel Hatch series, I fell in love with the character of Dalton Savage early. I thought Rachel and Dalton made an unstoppable pair. But, authors have other plans, and Dalton Savage was gifted a series of his own. It's a great series because Savage is such a complex and engaging character. But I must admit that I keep thinking Rachel Hatch is going to walk back into his life and storyline.
Regardless of love interests, I still enjoy the tales of Sheriff Savage and his deputies as they do their best to keep the citizens of their small community safe. This particular novel has some brain-melting twists as the story unfolds, keeping the readers on their toes, as all of Ryan's novels tend to do.
If you're a fan of law enforcement/former military thrillers with well-written storylines and complicated characters, don't miss this series. And if you like this one, be sure to hop over to the Rachel Hatch series as well, where readers were first introduced to Dalton!
The Frost Killer is the fourth book in the Dalton Savage series. It seems no matter how hard he tries, or how much he promises not to take unnecessary risks, Dalton continues to find himself in dangerous, life or death situations. This particular adventure is a bit different though as it involves the hunt for a serial killer, known as The Frost Killer. The story also introduces a new ally, Avril Dahl. As described in the book, Avril is the daughter of the Frost Killer’s first victim. She's grown up and is now an FBI agent. She's spent the last decade hunting the man who killed her mother. Sheriff Savage & the rest of his able crew join forces with Agent Dahl to capture the Frost Killer before he can complete his routine & disappear again. This fast-paced thrill ride is a great way to expand upon the Savageverse & does a great job setting up Agent Dahl for her own series.
Now that I've read the entire Hatch series and most this one, I'm struggling to respect Savage's fiance Becca. Millions of women who are partners of military or first responders essentially single parent. Her expectations are unrealistic for a veteran lawman. When British authors set their stories in the US, pray use terms that are used in the States and make sure landmarks are spelled correctly. It's a crib not a cot, it's a lawn or yard not a garden and it's Breckenridge not Breckinridge. An earlier book recounts time in Kentucky yet the setting was Tennessee. They are not interchangeable. I will continue LT Ryan's books with the hope that the editing tightens up and our sheriff gets more support, in the office and at home.
Another very well written, plausible plot. Dalton Savage has established a very good reputation for being involved in complex plots that grip the reader. Ryan is a real craftsman in the way he develops the pace of all of his books, I can hardly wait to start each one and, once started, they are very difficult to put down.
The background detail about the environment in which the plot happens illustrates a part of the world that the vast majority of us can only dream about - they are totally beyond our experience.
I recommend this book without reservation, it is part of a series that has links to other excellent series that Ryan has written, he is an author with a real talent to capture the imagination.
The Frost Killer, the latest book in the Dalton Savage series, is a fast-paced read. It is a police procedural that includes some elements of a Thriller and a Western. The hunt for the killer has twists and turns. The characters are believable. The Sheriff and Deputies are admirable and yet human. The descriptions of terrain and weather are well-written in a manner that adds to the quality of the book without bogging down the action. I enjoyed it and recommend it.
I received this book as an ARC. This review is freely and voluntarily given.
This is such a good book that I didn't want to stop reading it even to go to sleep. I read after I got into bed and didn't stop until my eyes were hard to hold open. Then I continued with it for a little longer. Every time I thought I had the killer figured out something happened to prove it wasn't him. If you like twists and turns then you will love this one. I think it may be my favorite out of the Dalton Savage series. I just can't wait until the next book comes out.
“The Frost Killer” is L. T. Ryan’s fourth installment of his Dalton Savage Series. Dalton finds himself in the middle of an investigation into a possible serial killer. All the evidence seems to point to that, yet, there is always more there than meets the eye. Ryan’s stories always move quickly, and the reader is never sure who is behind the bodies that keep showing up. As the good sheriff tries to get to the bottom of the mystery, he has to deal with an obsessed FBI agent, and his beloved wife struggling at home with a new baby. (302 pages)
I enjoyed this fourth book in the Hawks Landing series very much. This book had me up way past my bedtime as I turned pages to see what would happen next. Good characters, interesting plot and good timing make this a great book. I am very happy to have read it as it resonated with me both as a crime thriller and as someone who lived in a small town in the show of the Rockies. Great late night reading.
This is a great series. The characters are well written, realistic, and easy to relate to. There is always lots of action and suspense. Each new adventure for Dalton is better than the last. This one is no exception. I was hooked from page 1. This time, Sheriff Savage teams up with the FBI to catch a serial killer. Can they stop him before he kills again? The authors have done a great job once again bringing the characters and the small town to life.
Another great Dalton Savage book! The Frost Killer comes to Hawk's Landing! Dalton Savage and his deputies are trying to find the killer and prevent another murder. L.T. Ryan and Biba Pearce takes the reader on a journey involving many suspects. You must read this to see if you can discover who the killer is. This is definitely a book that you cannot put down! Happy reading! 😊
Sheriff Dalton gets called out during a blizzard when a body is found. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary until an FBI agent showed up asking questions. She seemed to know all the details regarding the death that only the Sheriff’s office knew. It was this information from the FBI agent along withe corresponding files that began an investigation into a series of murders. The mystery and intrigue are top notch and will keep you reading well into the night. A must read !
I love Dalton Savage. This is Book #4. An intense story. The Sheriff’s Office is joined by an FBI agent who is on a personal mission to catch this killer. Start with Book #1 for the background. This book is phenomenal and kept my interest from start to finish. I can’t wait for the next one. Thanks to the Author for the ecopy of this book. The opinion expressed herein is my own.
This book is the best yet! Start any of the Dalton Savage books, and you will become immediately immersed in a rich world peopled with realistic, down to earth characters. However, the plots are anything but mundane. Never predictable, always action-packed and thrilling. Grab The Frost Killer today, then go back for the others.
A good read, Savage meets an FBI agent tracking a serial killer, one that has shown up in his town. Three women have been killed in a short period of time, but many more have been killed in fours,in other countries. The hunt is on to catch the killer before the fourth is done in. ENJOY!
This is the best of the Dalton books so far, and they have all been good! This one relies on misdirection that is both effective and truly captivating. Te characters that started in the background of the Rachel Hatch story are becoming fully realized people, as are the sites and scenes of Hawks Landing. Well done!
This was the best Dalton Savage book yet. All the intrigue from Agent Dahl and her conspiracy theories of the Frost Killer blind Savage to the real story. But luckily he figured out in end but nearly died. But in the end he got his man and solved the conspiracy!!!! 10 stars plus!!!! Thanks Carl Clause
LT Ryan out did himself with the Frost Killer. This book kept you reading until you finally found out who did it. Very interesting and plot followed along very well. The person you think might be behind the killing and why was not who you thought it might be. The things and what is hidden in a small town can be quite disturbing. Very good book. I’d give it five stars.
The hunt for an International serial killer comes to this tiny backwater town. An FBI agent joins forces with the sheriff in hopes they can end the killing. Keeps you guessing!
Cannot believe someone’s mind can even think of all of this information and than combine it into a believable story. I actually read this in one day. Onward to .#5….
A seemingly meaningless murder becomes very meaningful when another young woman dies in similar circumstances. It is a race against time to stop further deaths. The finale would make a great movie scene.
I have never been disappointed about reading a book written by L T Ryan. All the edge of your seat suspense you could ever as for along with plenty of plot twists. A great book.
Sheriff Dalton Savage is hot on the heels of a serial killer until he is not. Only after several women have died does he realize he is in pursuit of the wrong suspect! A non-stop thriller that keeps you guessing until the end.
