Suddenly Sorceress

PMS can be a real witch.

Ivie McKie isn’t your run-of-the-mill kindergarten teacher. After an encounter with a horny goat, followed by a confrontation with her lying, cheating fiancé, Ivie is shocked when the big jerk suddenly transforms into a skunk—the black and white furry variety.

Enlisting the help of her shopaholic friend Chloe and sexy club magician Jackson Blake, Ivie is forced to play a literal game of cat and mouse as she races against the clock to change her ex back before she's arrested for his murder.

With every new spell comes a fresh wave of sexual desire, drawing Jack further into Ivie’s troubles—her panties, the car, the kitchen, and assorted seedy bathrooms along the way.

Ivie soon discovers what every witch worth her spell book knows: There’s nothing worse than a bad case of Post Magical Syndrome.

After walking away from her career as a business banker to pursue writing full-time, Erica Lucke Dean moved from the hustle and bustle of the big city to a small tourist town in the North Georgia Mountains where she lived in a 90-year-old haunted farmhouse.

Tired of being woken up in the middle of the night by a pesky poltergeist, the author of contemporary young adult, romantic comedy, and paranormal romance moved into a cute little cabin in the woods, where she lives with her husband, her dogs, and the occasional bear. Much like the characters in her books, Ms. Dean is a magnet for disaster, and has been known to trip on air while walking across flat surfaces.

How she’s managed to survive this long is one of life’s great mysteries.

You can find out more about Erica, in addition to her humorous blog posts and disasters, on her website.

Ivie McKie's day starts off pretty bad. She is a kindergarden teacher that just found out she can't get out of a field trip that is headed to a farm. She had a previous bad experience but surely lightning can't strike twice? She is oogling a hot vet when that lightning does hit in the form of a horny goat.

When she gets home not only are her expensive Ralph Lauren boots ruined, her fiance Matt shows up at home and wants his engagement ring back. He is getting married to someone else..never mind that he is banging half the town. Ivie gets pissed off and Matt ends up stinking. Literally. Somehow she turns him into a skunk.
Palm Springs commercial photography

Ivie is shocked that it happened. She didn't know she could do that. She goes to find someone to help her with her ex-fiance, since his new one has reported him missing and Ivie is the prime suspect.
She enlists the help of a local hot magician named Jack, the thing is..his "magic" is all faked.
Palm Springs commercial photography

That's okay though, because Jack is super hot and one of the side effects of Ivie doing magic is now she is super horny.
Palm Springs commercial photography

Other side effects include her hair turning bright red and her boobs growing. Ivie is on a roll. Plus, now her ex is a dog. He really should stop pissing her off.

The cops start closing in so Ivie's best friend Chloe puts aside her shopping to join in with the quest to turn douche bag Matt back into himself.

This book is actually pretty fun, it's total light reading with some hawt porny scenes that I totally read twice skimmed. The ending was over the top but it's still fun if you want a little paranormal porny time.

There are several fun reviews for this book posted, I'm selecting this one to highlight. Just because.

After Ivie McKie has a horrible day out on a farm during a field trip with her kindergarten class she comes home to find herself alone all evening and begins to worry about her fiance Matt. Around midnight Matt returns home only to ask Ivie for her engagement ring back, he is going to marry someone else and gives her the weekend to pack up and move out of his house. Ivie becomes enraged and the next thing she knows there a poof and lying, cheating Matt is now a skunk.

Matt was supposed to be flying out to Vegas to marry his new fiance and when he doesn't show up she calls the police claiming Ivie must have killed him. Frantic, Ivie has no idea who to trust or what to do. She finds a magician on Craigslist, Jackson Blake that she thinks might be able to help her.

Being someone that never sticks to one specific genre to read I love when an author ventures out and combines different elements to a story to make it something unique. Erica Lucke Dean has done a great job with Suddenly Sorceress making it a great mix of chick lit and paranormal that takes the reader on a fun ride with Ivie and her friends as they go through adventure after adventure trying to figure out how to return Matt back into a human that had me laughing the entire time.

Ivie was a wonderfully likable character that you couldn't help but root her on as she discovers not only who she really is but her own happiness after living a life of just settling with the jerk of a fiance. Chloe, Ivie's best friend, is absolutely hysterical and Jackson Blake the steamy sexy magician was very drool and swoon worthy the entire time.

Overall, an outrageous, comical adventure into the paranormal. Definitely would recommend this fun book if you enjoy chick lit and/or paranormal.

*Book source ~ Many thanks to Red Adept for providing a review copy in exchange for an honest review.

Ivie Marie McKie is an average everyday garden variety Kindergarten teacher who has incredibly bad luck on farm field trips and bad taste in fiancés. Well, she thought she was average and even a bit boring until the day she turns Matt into the skunk that he is. Wut? When Google is no help she resorts to searching Craigslist and finds Jackson Blake who claims to be a magician. He may or may not be a magician, but he is definitely a hottie who ignites sparks in Ivie, so she enlists his and her best friend Chloe’s help in figuring out how to change Matt back into a human before the cops arrest her for his murder, body or not.

What a fun ride this is! No sympathy for Matt, but poor Ivie! Can you imagine just living your life until the day you get so enraged you turn someone into a skunk and have no clue how you did it or how to reverse it? First you have to believe what your eyes are telling you even if it seems completely out of the realm of believability. Then you have to figure out a way to fix it when the internet is no help. And finally, you have to do it fast because the cops are asking questions you can’t answer without being arrested or put into a rubber room.

The writing is excellent and the pace is just about perfect. I had to take a bit away for a scene towards the end that I thought was unnecessary, but on the whole it clips along at a good speed with Ivie trying to stay one step ahead of the cops. The characters are wonderful and the dialogue is snappy. If you want a lighthearted fast-paced humorous romantic fantasy about a newly discovered witch then I highly recommend spending an afternoon with this one.

OMG first I have to say that I absolutely love Erica Lucke Dean! She had me on the floor laughing my ass off because some of the situations in this book had me holding my ribs because I was laughing so effing hard. I am not going to give away any spoilers but I will say this if you want a crazy mix of chick lit and paranormal with a side of revenge then this is the story for you.

Ivie is living her dream. She is a kindergarten teacher and she is engaged to a very popular Chiropractor Matt. She thinks she has the life until one day she is waiting for Matt to come home and when he does he is there to break off the engagement and tell her he has moved on and is marrying someone else. Lord she gets so mad I mean she saw red and something snapped inside her and she turns Matt into a skunk.

Lord I have never laughed so hard in my life! She turned that lying cheating bastard into a skunk and now she has to find a way to change him back into a human. This is where the hot ass magician comes in. Jackson aka Jack is a magician and he is going to help Ivie change Matt back to a human. But along the way Ivie and Jack start to have feelings for one another and can't keep their hands off one another and holy eff the scenes between these two is hot and steamy and yes you will need a glass of ice cubes.

So what happens to the Matt the skunk? Does Ivie and Jack change him back or will Ivie go to jail for murder?????????????????? This is one kick ass story!

I read a friendly reviewer’s comments on this book and, as we have a tendency to read the same novels and rate them almost the same most of the time, she made this seem so appealing I knew I just had to read it myself - and I’m so glad I did!

The scene with the goat at the farm will live in my memory for a long time as will so many other antics in this hilarious, laugh out loud, magical romance! Just imagine you’re a quiet, unassuming, kindergarten teacher but when you got so cross with your boyfriend breaking up with you that you mysteriously managed to magically morph him into a horrendously smelly skunk! You can’t let him go off into nature, you need to change him back - but don’t know how you changed him in the first place! The resulting escapades will have you giggling your way through the story as Ivie tries to work out how she’s changed her ex with the help of friends old and new whilst the police investigate his possible murder - with Ivie as the number one suspect!

This is one of the funniest, comical, paranormal romances I have ever read. This story has so many crazy situations and her ex is sure paid back by her actions! This is the first novel by this author that I’ve read and I’ll certainly be looking out for others by her in future. With great characters, plenty of humour and magic, I have no hesitation in highly recommending this to anyone who enjoys light hearted, hilarious, paranormal chick lits - what a winning combination!

Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley, too, for letting me read an ARC of this book in exchange for this, an honest review - and to Carrie for alerting me to this fantastic read!

I’ve read books that combine something paranormal with another genre  romance, thriller, and horror immediately come to mind  but I don’t think I’ve ever read one that tossed chick lit and paranormal together before. Both the story conflict and much of the humor in Suddenly Sorceress come about due to Ivie, the protagonist, finding that she can cast spells, although she’s not sure exactly how she’s doing it or how to undo what she’s done.

While I felt sorry for Ivie and wondered if she was going to find a way to turn her ex-fiancé back into a human, I was also laughing at her the entire time. Some of that was because of the situations she found herself in (getting attacked by a horny goat) and some was the author’s sense of humor or way of describing something. One example is the pop culture reference when Ivie as the narrator said she, “felt the wintry air soak into me and shook like Bruce Banner in the throes of a temper tantrum.” Another was prompted by her hair which changed color over time (although she wasn’t dyeing it) starting out with red highlights and eventually turning bright red, which prompted this:

I look like Ronald McDonald’s slutty younger sister. “Would you like a happy ending with that value meal?”

This was a very fun read, even for this non-chick.

Suddenly Sorceress - Full of snortable snarky awesomeness! Where To Katie with Love with its sudden twists and plot surprises left us, Suddenly Sorceress took it up and ran fast, lightening fast up to another level of awesome. Our leading lady Ivie McKie, a run of the mill kindergarten teacher is engaged to very “popular” chiropractor, Matthew Smith. A bit too popular it seems! After Ivie has a rather adventurous field trip experience, at the price of her Ralph Lauren Boots (see the Pinterest board below for an image), and her favorite white shirt… not to mention her dignity all she wants is to crawl in bed and wait for her fiance to get home. She waits, and waits and waits and when he finally does it was not the greeting she expected! Matt calls off their engagement and announces he is going to marry Candy, one of his … umm.. well I did mention he was popular right? Ivie sees red, almost literally and something inside her pops the next thing she knows Matt has been turned into a lying cheating skunk. What happens next had me laughing my ass of to the point I almost threw up laughing so hard.GoatI actually had to stop reading one night because Geoff was trying to talk on the phone to the store and I kept laughing out loud and snorting! YES, snorting, like I said above, Suddenly Sorceress had me suddenly snorting over and over… and over. Y’all know me and my thing for goats? I am not sure if it is a thing but I find any stories involving goats enduring. I think Erica has a bit of experience herself considering she lives on a haunted farm. She raises PIGS, people!! And she has a pet Chicken and..Turkeys and. umm OH I digress, back to the goats..What Ivie didn’t know when she and the goat had their moment was what and who would be on her … side later on. More magic then she ever felt possible found her and I don’t think she ever thought anything like that was possible. Plus, the goat!! I mean look at him, he got lucky (btw did you know Erica has a goat named Lucky, but it is a she!! Heh! I told you! Maybe she should rename it Ivie.)OH and any of you fashionistas in the crowd will love it! (Again, see the boots below!). Her best friend Chloe considers shopping a necessity for living! Being a trust fund baby who makes a good money on her own, the references are not just funny, but again.. fashion. But what Chole really is good at is better at is being a best friend. This is one of Dean’s strengths, her friendships within the pages. They are strong and faithful! She shows the faults that everyone has and because of this her characters are so believable, even when they are turning lying cheating bastards into skunks and other various… things. And as quirky and ridiculous some of Ivie’s thoughts are as soon as her mother is introduced I think I peed a little laughing so hard! (HEY I have had five children, I can .. admit this, sort of! DON’T JUDGE ME!)scooby-doo-halloween-costumes-ebayThe scene that had me laughing my ass off and am really glad she was talked into keeping it the way it was, is.. well.. I umm, CRAP it would be spoilers.. But when you are faced with Halloween and the cops are after you, you gotta do what you gotta do! Plus, Chloe had the boots! If I were to pick a favorite scene it would.. no I don’t think I can. Everyone and everyone was perfect and necessary! There was no “who gives a s***” moments in this book what so ever! Oh crap hmmm all the sex scenes are awesome, I love the scene where John asks who the hookers are (*snickering* just go read it and you will find out), and I adored all the interactions with her mother.Perhaps one of my favorite was the basement scene. One scene, which is the one where Ivie really comes into her own power, where she learns she controls the magic not the other way around, was the basement scene. I think, if I was to answer this seriously, this was a wonderfully wrought bit of symbolic groupings. Her ability to control her magic was her realizing she actually did have some control in her life. There are subtle metaphors everywhere and don’t discount any of the characters, even the bouncer! They all serve a purpose in how our focalizer Ivie realizes her full worth. If I can be cheesy, and I do apologize for this, the book really was magical. It was not all laughter, there was some really hot steaming scenes between Ivie and the man, Jackson.. oops JACK. There are also a lot of serious moments. Jack ends up being the first man in a long time, possibly ever, to show her just how worthy she is of someone who cares and loves her, oh and can give her hot steamy bathroom sex to boot! Even if they don’t get to join the mile high club they do manage to defile quite a few surfaces, basements, dirty little holes and her childhood room. Perhaps I am giving you a bit to much, but I really hope I have intrigued you enough to give it a shot.Suddenly Sorceress will have all you snorters starting the cat, annoying the husbands and having your children think you are insane. Just go with it. Dean is a writer who really draws you in and keeps you wanting till the very end, of which I cried like a baby! Go grab your copy today!

This story was absolutely the most fun I've had reading in a while. From the moment I met Ivie, I liked her. She was smart, cute, humble, and just a bit accident prone. Perhaps accident prone isn't the right choice of words here, but things tend to happen to her. When she loses her temper with her cheating fiancé and he changes into a skunk, she scrambles to figure out how to turn him back into his regular self. Nothing like this has ever happened to her before.

The plot twists and turns as Ivie searches all the wrong places for answers to her dilemma. One of those wrong places is a magic show in a seedy part of town where she meets gorgeous part-time stage magician Jackson Blake, who leads her to believe he might be able to help. Ivie is totally out of her element and desperately grasping at straws as she tries to elude the police by hesitantly involving her best friend, Chloe. Everyone needs a best friend like Chloe. She was as eccentric as she was loyal. She kept me laughing and I loved her style.

As certain elements in the story change, the stakes raise higher and Ivie's mother gets pulled into the fray. Certain facts about the past are brought to light and Ivie's world is turned upside down yet again. I can't say the ending was a complete surprise, but I can say it ended the way I was hoping it would. I had my fingers crossed anyway.

The plot moves at a good pace and twists back on itself more than once. The foible-filled characters were all well developed and the dialogue was thoroughly entertaining. It was fun giving into the magical elements of this story and Ms. Dean's Post Magical Syndrome was a fascinating twist. If you are looking for a fast, fun, sexy story that will leave a smile on your face I highly recommend this one.

FYI: Adult sexual situations and adult language that may be offensive to some.

Format/Typo Issues: Although I read an Advanced Readers Copy, I found no significant errors.

Not as funny as I thought from the cover text, but still with enough slapstick like situations and dialogues to more than make up for that.
When her cheating fiancé demands she give back the engagement ring, Ivie, in a wave of anger, she transforms him into a skunk - what a way to discover she is a sorceress! Trying to find help in changing him back, she meets Jack, a magician. Together they, Ivie's friend Chloe and Jack's brother Jon try to find help for Matt, always while at the same time staying ahead of the police who think Ivie murdered him.
Fast-paced, with sympathetic protagonists (even if a bit unrealistic, and yes I know we are talking about a sorceress), a good easily flowing narration style make this an entertaining book to read. Having to endure (way too) numerous sex scenes because apparently that's a side effect of performing true magic did dim this enjoyment a bit. Seriously, in my opinion, that was overdone in this book, but apart from, no complaints.
And the epilogue was still the best of this book for me!

So adorable!

Ivie changes in lying, cheating, horrible skunk of a fiancee into...well...a skunk! Her magic isn't pretty or even super reliable...mostly everything is just a disaster! Real life...only with magic potions, powers, Las vegas magicians, and goats!

Such a fluffy, fun read!

Suddenly Sorceress is 5 star reading, 5 star humor and 5 star enthusiasim
Author is - Ericka Lucke Dean

I had to fight the urge to read through it as fast as possible. I fought the urge to stay up and keep turning the pages. I wanted to let the story unfold slowly and enjoy in pace this book. That was down right hard.

The title itself is brilliant. The story is actually of a sequence of events that suddenly changes the life of Ivie McKie. Ivie is a character you can't help but bond with and enjoy Her quirky thoughts, hilarious misfortunes and ways of handling disaster will make you laugh out loud. Seriously... out loud. Oh and the other characters... *swoon*

Jackson Blake is someone that any woman would just swoon over. You just root for this guy and his brother.

Chloe is just the kind of friend most of us have. We wonder why we put up with them and realize it's because they put up with us and both enjoy it.

Like many woman in the midst of troubles she turn to her mothers wisdom. Ivie isn't different, rather her mother Rose is. The relationship she has with the cooky yet lovable mother is page turning worthy. You just need to find out what the story is with this woman.

All the characters in this book were created and formed with such wonderful personalities you can't help but feel it's a diary more so then a book. Even her cat Karma has quite the personality.

Poor Ivie doesn't understand all that has happened after her fiance breaks her heart. All she knows is that her fiance is now the cause of a stench in their home and terrible feeling that the skunk in her sight is the start of a whole lot more trouble.

The full circle effect in some of the sub stories in this book is brilliant. Pay attention, every character whether two legged or four have a large effect to Ivie McKie's new view to life.

If you are looking for a book that takes you out of the mundane day to day, this is the ticket. It's the ticket to a ride that will leave you exhilarated, erotic, laughing, hopeful and dare I say it.... feeling like magic is possible.

I am a fan of this authors writing and blogging. She out did herself with this book.

Until the moment Ivie McKie discovered that her boyfriend was a no good, lying cheater, her life was going just the way she wanted it to. She's a kindergarten teacher, enjoying the fact that she gets to shape and mold the young lives in her charge. Teaching is a passion she never gets tired of, and she'll do everything possible to do what she loves best.

Ivie's life is soon sent into an uproar when she inadvertently turns her fiancé into a skunk. She can't quite fathom as to how that came about. Until that moment, she had no idea that she could do magic. Nothing in her life signaled that possibility. So why is it that one unexpected encounter with Matt changed everything?

Determined to come to terms with what she's done, Ivie enlists the help of her best friend, Chloe, and a magician named Jackson Blake. Together, the three of them are sure to discover as to why things have changed so quickly. Sadly, time isn't on their side. She's now been implicated in Matt's murder, even though he's very much alive.

If they're to succeed in changing him back to who and what he is, they'll have to embark on a journey that will make them question the world as they know it. Ivie knows she'll need to do everything possible to unlock the secrets surrounding her unexpected powers. She has to. It's the only way things will return back to normal. The question is, how far is she willing to go in order to clear her name, and bring Matt back to the way he was before?

Suddenly Sorceress had me in stitches through several spots in the book. We get caught up Ivie's plight as she does her best to come to terms with a recent turn of events. It's not easy discovering that you're a witch. Nor does knowing you've changed your fiancé's life - literally - get any better. Erica weaves a tale that takes you through many up's, down's, and unexpected twists and turns. I truly enjoyed this book, and know you will, too. Looking forward to more of Erica's future works.

While this book can be listed as a paranormal romance, you don’t have to be a fan of that genre to enjoy this book, just a fan of good writing and a fun storyline.

Things seemed to be going pretty good for kindergarten teacher Ivie McKie, who’s engaged to Matthew Green, a chiropractor. But when Matthew leaves her to marry someone else and Ivie has an encounter with a horny goat, life turns upside down as she knows it.

Ivie confronts her cheating fiancé only to have him turn into a skunk – the really smelly kind that walks on four legs. Needing help, Ivie turns to her shopaholic friend Chloe and Jackson Blake, the sexy club magician. While she might like to leave Matthew as a skunk, she has to get him changed back quickly or be arrested for his murder. As they work to get Matthew changed, Ivie and Jackson also have to deal with their sexual desires that grow stronger and stronger.

Dean has created a cast of zany characters that will have you laughing out loud one minute and reaching to turn the AC up the next as the steamy romance takes over. The characters are well-developed and likable. The secondary characters add to the story for a well-balanced read.

SUDDENLY SORCERESS moves at a steady pace and is filled with twists and turns. The setting draws you in and holds you spellbound until you reach the end.

Dean will have you believing in witches and all things magical. This is a good mix of laugh-out-loud humor, sensual romance and friendship. A fun and steamy read.

FTC Full Disclosure - This book was sent to me by the publisher in hopes I would review it. However, receiving the complimentary copy did not influence my review.

I preface the review by saying how much I love the cover, and how cleverly it fits the theme of the book. Now for the good stuff. From the moment I started reading Suddenly Sorceress, I couldn’t put it down! Initially I wanted to smack Ivie for seeming like such a weakling and pushover, but I quickly changed my mind as she began her journey into total witchy hotness and gorgeousness. Who wouldn’t want the chance to turn their cheating fiancé into a skunk or other appropriate animal?
I’m biased and think know redheads have the most fun, and even in the midst of the semi-nail-biting drama, Ivie is bonding and sexing it up with another smokin’ hot “magician”. Excellent plot, steamy sex scenes, and enough humor to keep you entertained, and the shenanigans involved to get Ivie’s ex back into human form will leave you laughing and anticipating what’s next to come. The real zinger is at the end, and without giving spoilers (despise them), I’ll simply say it’s one magical family reunion. Erica Lucke Dean delivers with her usual smooth writing style and sharp wit, and I’d recommend Suddenly Sorceress to the ladies and gents who like a steamy, paranormal romance with plenty of humor and a lot of naughtiness.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review. Opinions are 100% mine.

I have been a fan of Erica Lucke Dean's writing for a few years now. Her Daily Blog is hilarious (Bikini Wax Disaster, anyone?) and her serial vampire story, Daywalkers, kept me on the edge of my seat for each weekly installment. She has a voice that is easily relatable, and she is clever without being over-wordy (is that a thing?). I loved the random 70's pop culture references, like one character referring to the nosy neighbor who saw her doing magic as "Mrs. Kravitz". The Halloween costumes were perfect...that's all I can say about that without giving something away.

Suddenly Sorceress is a mash up of paranormal romance and chick lit, that has a good balance of humor and heat. I am generally not a fan of sex scenes, but girlfriend can write a sex scene! They were a necessary evil, since extreme horniness appears to be a side effect of doing magic, and she worked them in nicely (that's what she said) with the rest of the story. The characters were easy to get invested in and root for. Especially Ivie--who wouldn't like to turn their cheating, lying fiancee into a skunk/snake/dog? We've all been there, right? Right.

I highly recommend checking this book out, and if you like it, leave a review and tell your friends! Writers like Erica need to be shared! Plus, I hear there could be a sequel, so if you want to jump onto this crazy train, now is the time! :)

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Going in I had no idea what to expect. The cover is ridiculously adorable, and quickly piqued my interest. Once I started reading, I was hooked. I have the bloodshot eyes to prove it! From barnyard antics (shhhh, don’t talk about the goat….) to the flaming red hair, Suddenly Sorceress is packed full of emotion, humor, and romance. The author did a fabulous job adding detail and special touches throughout the storyline I had never heard of before. (insert huge kudos here)

Ivie McKie, a plain-Jane kindergarten teacher stuck in a rut and a dead-end relationship, finds herself wanted for her the disappearance/murder of her ex-fiancé. With the help of her bestfriend and a wicked hot magician, Ivie must tap into her magic to clear her name before the cops (or her libido) take her down first!

Now moving onto the important stuff: the steam level. Let’s just say the heat is REQUIRED (giggle) in this book. When you find yourself naked in the woods with the sexy Jackson Blake, Ivie is all too happy to fill the requirement – more than once!

The ending was perfect. I like when I don’t see it coming. Suddenly Sorceress was a great read. Erica Lucke Dean is highly recommended!

Title: Suddenly Sorceress
Author: Erica Lucke Dean
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Format: Ebook
Pages: 260
Rating: 5

Main Characters: Ivie McKie, Jackson Blake

Supporting Characters: Chloe, skunk/rat/snake/dog

Summary: Ivie McKie is considered a normal kindergarten teacher until the night her fiancé comes home late asking for the ring back. Next thing you know he’s a skunk and she has no clue what is going on. Hoping to get some help she meets magician Jackson Blake and things just start to heat up while she tries to remember what her fiancé looked like before turning him into a skunk. The police are after her for the supposed foul play and Ivie still has no idea what to do.

Thoughts: Talk about hilarious, this was a LMAO story. The constant trouble that Ivie gets into but somehow manages to escape keeps you hooked until the very end. Add in Jackson and it goes from funny to hot and steamy and back to funny. This is a must read if you want a good laugh and a few really hot guys!

I received a copy from NetGalley for an honest review.

Funny story

I enjoyed the story plot, but it started out very slow, and it had way too much sex in it. Come on that was a lot I had to skip pages through.

I am a die-hard YA fan . . . what can I say-- stunted in the golden years. (wink)
However, when I picked up Suddenly Sorceress, I was hooked. The characters are vividly painted, the action is funny, thrilling, and surprising, and Dean has a way with words that makes the reader feel totally at ease. She could throw a curve ball my way (and did a few times!) and I always knew she knew what she was doing.

As a writer myself, I appreciate craft that is dialed in like this book is. I may typically read stuff where the MC is 17, but I know good writing when I see it. Trust me, if you like edgy and fun, this book is for you.

What an absolute delight! Laugh out loud funny! Ivie accidentally discovers a most fitting punishment for the low-life boyfriend that dumped her. What ensues is a story that was such a blast to read I could not put it down until the very last page. Ivie had me rooting for her, and laughing at the predicaments she finds herself in well past my usual bedtime. The characters, the emotions, the interactions, everything felt so real to me. This light fantasy just overflows with heart and pizzazz. It is a feel-good type story that is just plain fun to get caught up in. Loved it!

This book was given to me in exchange for my honest review.

Suddenly Sorceress was a quick fun read with quite a lot of sexy times, a silly plot and unrelatable characters.
I enjoyed this book as i said it was fun to read, I didn't understand why Ivie had trouble magicing her ex back into a person despite how she had such an immediate grasp on how to use her magic, I also found the characters to be a bit one dimensional and mostly unbelievable, so I couldn't in all honestly give more than 3 stars. But if your looking for a fun light read with some adult action and occasional humour this is your book!

Suddenly Sorceress by Erika locke dean is a romance read. Pms can be a real witch. ivie Mckie isn't your run-of-the-mill kindergarten teacher. after an encounter with a harry goat, ivie has a confrontation with her lying-cheating fiance. Very good read. Devoured in less than 24 hours. I liked the story and the characters. Ivie was my favourite character. I liked the ending too. There was nothing I disliked about this book. Highly recommended. 5* from me. Thanks to netgalley for the arc.

So I liked most of this but there was a lot of pointless graphic sex so it only gets 3*'s! I do wonder if there will be a book 2!

I really enjoyed reading this book, finding not only the plot to be unique but the take on witches and magic as well. But I was surprised at the amount of sex scenes this book contained. When reading the description you wouldn’t think there would be so much. Most of the time the scenes were quite steamy and enjoyable to read, while others made me roll my eyes. I mean, do you really need to have sex in a creepy basement that an old lady has trapped you in? I don’t think so.

I have to say though, that I really enjoyed Ivie and Jack as characters. As a pair, they seemed to compliment each other wonderfully and it was nice to see a female character embrace her enjoyment of sex as well as a male character not be afraid to tell her ‘No.’. Their relationship moves very quickly but I found it refreshing to see Jack be the one to take a step back and make it clear he wanted something serious between the two of them. It was nice to read about a couple that doesn’t take a pause just because the women suddenly feels, ‘insecure’.

Other then the two main characters, Jack and Ivie, I found the supporting cast to be pointless at best and downright annoying at worst. Chloe is supposed to be Ivie’s shopaholic best friend, and it might just be that I’m not a fan of spoiled people, but I found Chloe to be the worst of the extra characters. She plays a pretty big roll in Ivie’s adventure but pretty much just complains about everything the whole time. And when shes not complaining shes talking about something designer. I failed to find any real redeeming qualities about her, and several times wondered why Ivie would even be friends with her. Jacks brother, Jon, is like a milder, male version of Chloe...enough said.

Even though I ended that on a sour note, I still think this book is worth the read. While it does end on a cliff hanger, the main plot of the book is wrapped up, and it’s a smaller, secondary plot that leaves you hanging at the end. So you could continue on or not without losing much sleep.

What if you are not who you think you are? (an audio review)

Ivie McKie, kindergarten teacher extraordinaire, thinks the day she ends up in the mud with a goat is the worst day of her life. After all, her Ralph Lauren boots, favourite white shirt, and designer jeans are ruined. The entire class saw her…with a goat. I could tell you to get your mind out of the gutter, but it was mating season. And, to top it all off, the gorgeous vet whom she glimpsed wearing a shirt saying Vets do it doggie style, disappeared.

Ivie survives the humiliation only to come home and find her fiance is late. Really late. But she’s the trusting type, so until he comes home slightly drunk, demanding his grandmother’s ring back, Ivie has only been worried. That worry morphs into unspeakable anger. Anger like Ivie has never felt.

When she wakes up in the morning, things are a little fuzzy and not just because of the wine. Matt’s (her cheating chiropractor ex-fiance) cell phone keeps ringing. She answers it, only to receive confirmation that Matt was planning to leave her.

Erica has set up the perfect scene for a comedic romp as Ivie tries desperately to clean up the mess she’s created, even if it only gets worse by the minute. Of course the fact Matt is now a skunk isn’t really helping her sanity. Because she must have done that…right? So how to undo it…

Enlisting her fashion-obsessed BF Chloe and a small-time illusionist named Jackson Blake, a journey begins. Jack’s famous brother John and Ivie’s mother get pulled in as well. Enough people to fill a Jeep Wagoneer as they drive around town trying to rescue Matt. Matt who is no longer a skunk, but isn’t a human yet.

Part of me feels Matt got everything he deserved. Still, I guess being consigned to squat while he pees for the rest of his life is cruel.

When Ivie learns the truth about her beloved father and her true nature, the reader has been pulled along for the ride.
