It’s another spectacular selection of adventures by some of comics’ top talents, with tales of The Dark Knight by Lee Bermejo, Marv Wolfman and Riccardo Burchielli, Rian Hughes, Damion Scott, and Paul Dini and Stephane Roux.
Lee Bermejo is a professional illustrator and comic book artist. He has done work for Marvel and DC Comics, Men's Health, Max Mara, Top Cow productions, Wizard Entertainment, and a crappy film called Ultraviolet (hey, whaddayagonnado). Talking about himself in the third person makes him feel more important than he really is. Anyway, enough about the blogger, let's talk art!
Nice read. Several very different stories, illustrating various styles among the black knight comics, almost all focused on secondaries characters, sidekicks or villains. Fine by me: for some reasons, I prefer Batman's background to the Hero himself. So here's a more detailed rating : 1. Rule number one : amazing illustrations, great artwork. The story is basic, an infiltration into the local drug dealers quarters. 4 stars. 2. Mirrors : a little introspection never hurts... or does it ? 2 stars 3. An innocent man : this is the kind of story where you wonder... what is it with that guy ? Is it moral rectitude, stubbornness or plain stupidity ? 4 stars 4. Namtab : Wtf did I just read ? 2 stars 5. Role Models : my favorite. I loved this story, starring Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn, casting against type. Lovely :) 5 stars.
Disappointing third issue in an otherwise brilliant series. Paul Dini and Stephane Roux's story about Harley and Ivy is the standout comic while the others have wonderful art going for them instead, like Lee Bermejo's one, Damion Scott, and Rian Hughes. Read the full review here!
“Role Models” from BATMAN: BLACK AND WHITE #3 (2014) Quinn to Batman: “S'long, B-Man! See ya 'round the Hall of Justice! Or wherever the heck us heroes hang out!”
