SCALDING...LIKE RAGING HELLFIRE! 4.5 STAR
I was stunned, dazed and completely overcome with dizzying effect of this spin left me. It's a tale of a young, beautiful, intellectually gifted Princeton graduate, Lila, innocent and a virgin; her surviving the most hideous, unspeakable nightmare through the hands of wicked people, finding a way out, getting on top and still be sane. It is also the story of sinfully handsome Alexander Wolfe, shrewd but wise, logical and rational, a CEO of Wolfe Enterprise at age 32; whose made it his mission to save his younger brother Jake, from a sickening experience and make the world a better place for him to live in.
I'm really torn how to rate this book for several reasons and I'm going to rate each one of my concern.
1. I enjoy reading erotica, I think hot sex scenes adds spice to it, having said that, too much of the same, repetitive sex scenes gets meaningless and you end up skimming. (3 star )
2.There's some inconsistencies I couldn't ignore, Lila being an innocent virgin turning into an insatiable nymphomaniac-like in a blink of an eye. In a perpetual state of arousal, she initiated an "unforgettable obscene poker game scene" that left a sour taste in my mouth. ( 1 star )
3. Alexander Wolfe's getting insanely jealous and having fisticuffs with his beloved brother Jake did not sit well with me. Also, as possessive as he is and protective of Lila, he allowed that "disturbing scene" to happen and participated on it. ( 1 star )
4. The kind of love Alexander has for Lila and the desire to keep her safe and happy is worthy and admirable. His love for his brother Jake drives him to do everything he can to protect and keep him safe and out of trouble is venerable. ( 5 star )
5. Lastly, the last quarter of the book and the ending tugged at my heart, sweet and swoon worthy! ( 5 star )
At the very least, it kept me glued in, drew me in and kept me there and I'm still thinking about it and seems to follow me around. Barring that "one particular scene" that's quite dismaying, this would have been a perfect 5 star for me and I recommend it.
