Great story. The author spends alot of time developing her characters and storyline all while mixing in some comedic relief. Kinda gives me a Janet Evanovich vibe. Overall great!

So so good! There are Greek Gods mixed with vampires (sekhors..."suck whore") in Las Vegas. Gods who have lived for thousands of years... Grim destroyed all vampires thousand of years ago until out of nowhere, there is a new one... and more people show up dead with their throats torn out. Grim has always destroyed these vampires but something about Vivien has him stopping. At first he won't admit it but then she wins him over. So much happens in this trilogy but I was never bored. Vivien made me laugh too! That's always a plus!

Honestly can't say when I last read something this well-balanced between romance, fantasy and crime.
In a world filled with supernatural entities -ancient Egyptian Gods, namely- her existence is a crime. And yet, our heroine makes her place in it. I love how persistent she is in her convictions, and how she goes through some very real character growth.
And with the way this is written, from two perspectives of unreliable narrators: Vivian and Grim; we get to observe this multi-faceted.

It also shows wonderfully in her relationships with the surrounding cast. Mostly, I adore her friendship with Miranda. I think both are great examples for leading with kindness without being pushovers.

I was really excited to see that Miranda apparently is getting her own Series. Don't know yet if I'll wait for Book 3 to be released so I'll be able to get an all-in-one edition again... We'll see.

But in the meantime I'd recommend this book if you enjoy strong female characters, more compact casts and supernatural crime with a sprinkle of smut and a lot of romance.

Ahhh this was fun!

Vivien’s wisecracking comments and sarcastic inner monologue had me cracking up the entire time. Grim had me scared for a bit until he started to come alive with Vivien’s extended presence. Their progress and intense connection were fun to watch as they unfolded, and the spicy moments were very enjoyable. I’ll admit to getting teary eyed when it seemed like a certain someone was gone for good, and I wanted to quit, but I’m glad I kept reading!

Grim and Vivian's journey is such an original story. I couldn't put it down! Action packed, and had me guessing until the very end.
I love the author's pacing and character development.
I knocked out half a star for yelling at Vivian's actions repeatedly. I definitely wanted to shake her a few times.

I just adored their HEA 🥰
They are a great couple.

The last book just ruined the entire series for me!!!! Sloppy lazy writing! Turning the badass MC into a sloppy mess of emotions and back and forth bullshit and being molested by her uncle and having him show up- FOR NO REASON! Had zero to do with the overall premise! 2 stars for how much I loved the book 1-2 otherwise it would be a solid 1 star.

I was so hooked!

We’re you obsessed with the Egyptology book as a kid and always wanted to dress exclusively in Hot Topic’s best (but your mom didn’t let you)? Did you then grow up to love spicy romance books featuring sassy female MC’s and grumpy dominate men? Well you have sure come to the right place, honey. This book has it all: steamy scenes, wonderful character building, a fascinating world fully fleshed out with lore and history, and laugh out loud fun. The trilogy follows an unwilling vampire with amnesia and the literal gif of death, thrown together to solve a few godly mysteries. The side characters were amazing and the backstory of the two MC’s made me cry more than once. I truly loved this book and would recommend it to anyone looking for a well written escape from the world.

Bitten By Death
Vivien awakens trapped in a metal box. Her memory of her past is completely erased as well as the knowledge of how she became a vampire. She has, however, retained her moral compass and refuses to drink from humans, instead subsisting on rat blood. Vivien thinks she remembers a man named Chad from her past and spends a considerable amount of time trying to locate him. She no sooner finds him than he is allowed to escape when she is manhandled by Grim. Vampires should no longer exist as the last one had been exterminated years before and he wants to interrogate her about her sire.
Vivien is more or less imprisoned in his penthouse. Feelings grow between Vivien and Grim as time goes on and she is used as bait to draw out the master vampire.
The mystery of Vivien’s vampiric origin is revealed and she now expects Grim to end her as she is no longer needed. He has changed his mind so brings her before the head honcho to determine her fate.

Kissed By Death
I love the comments of the little men working overtime in Vivien’s brain.
Why is Aioki flirting with Grim? I thought she was gay as she has a female lover in The Beast and the Badass books.
"hoochie mamas?” Haven’t heard that expression in a long, long time.
Vivien and Grim attend a ball mandated by the other gods so they can check her out. Let’s just say it doesn’t end well.
The god that terminates evil souls is kidnapped and Grim has to suffer the consequences.
Vivien has just exemplified an intrinsic trait for almost every female main character in the books I read - she goes off on her own to catch the bad guy. Does she tell anyone what she’s planning? Oh hell no; someone with better sense might stop her. Did she leave any kind of clue as to where she might be heading? What do you think? Does everything turn to shit? You betcha. Despite all odds she manages to achieve her mission.

Seduced By Death
Yay Bob! I’d already met him in The Beast and the Badass.
Vivien’s reluctance to express her love to Grim is pretty pointless. She’s supposedly afraid of losing her freedom to be whatever she wants. Hey babe, don’t look now but he already has complete control with the blood bond to exert his will over yours and make you do, say, dress, anything you can think of without your consent.
I don’t remember if it was this book or the last that revealed the sweet initial meeting of Grim and Vivien. To quote Robert from Everybody Loves Raymond they were obviously “meant to be.”*
She apparently had some paranormal affinity even before becoming a vampire.
Chapter 66, Vivien thinking: "A place where Grim left me all alone. Where I faced eternity by myself.”
Who is she kidding? She can’t live without drinking a god’s blood so she would bond with a different god or die.** Speaking of blood and different gods - what happened to Idris after he stole Vivien’s blood? Did anyone replace Seth? There are a finite number of gods to choose from. Inquiring minds want to know.
The vampire creating goddess is unloosed on Las Vegas. The gods take sides on whether vampires should be allowed or not (Idris chooses the wrong side. His blood theft is never addressed) Vivien has to rescue Grim despite the odds against her being successful. Big showdown. HEA

*Damn, Kay from Noshing Noir restaurant stole my line.

As the character Stephan from Saturday Night Live would say: this book had it all. But do you want it is the question

4 stars overall. My review is for all three books in the series which were in an audiobook compilation.

Book one. Excellent premise - but filled with so many dumb moments it made me question what I was doing with my life that I was reading this book.
If he is a god. Never mind the god of death. How is it that he has all these powers but yet can't get past the orderly of an old folks home?
And if his older than Earth itself lifespan is so relevant to the plot, then why does he get irritated by a "human" enough to stop and teach the bad boy actor a lesson in the lineup. He's not trying to impress the girl - he's just flashing his power around. Even though part of the whole character development is how he doesn't do that. That whole scene was weird and felt like something out of vampire diaries.

But then it got better and I liked the story and the creativity of it even though it was very close to " author is trying to get a screenplay picked up for TV " kind of thing

Book two. The Invisalign edition. I know this isn't related to the actual story but I think it's relevant because the author does have some say in who's reading the books. And this really affects the story in this one because both the narrators either had braces or Invisalign in. Made it hard to understand at some points. And the male narrator really lost the freaking plot in this one!
he was definitely portraying like 28-year-old American guy with a backwards baseball cap on watching the football game, but when he did one of the characters in a racist accent - it actally made me mad! Samoan people do not sound like Chinese Charlie Chan characters from the 1920s movies played by a white person :/
The story continues on and becomes a little annoying with such my numbing quotes such as:
"It was the grim Reaper murdering me.
...with his tongue"
Gah.

Aside from the stupidity, the story is still actually interesting and creative enough to pull you forward. And you start to really get invested in their relationship to see what's going to go down.

Book three was actually a four and a half star read. The story was fun and interesting, the secondary characters get developed, there's a whole bunch of stuff that you really can't place, there's a lot of scenes that make you uncomfortable, ones that will make you cry, once that make you hot, you get the full range of emotions and mystery here so that was very entertaining. And just when you think you're done ellipses there's the surprise within the surprise within the surprise at the end.

This was an audiobook compilation of all three books and I recommend to people who love silly cheesy books with a little bit of heat, some fun characters, unexpected unguessable outcomes, a bit of mystery and action.

came across this book Death and the Last Vampire by @authorhollyroberds on Audible by accident, I haven't seen anyone mention this on socials, I went in blind.
The FMC Vivienne finds she's been unalived, not only that but she's been made into a vampire. While she's getting to grips with her new status, the god of Death is notified of how she was unsliced and that she's been made into a vampire it's up to him to find out who has done it and how they've turned her since vampire's were extinct. He has to locate her and keep her close to entice the perpetrator out.
The chemistry and banter between the two is great, I laughed out loud and certain points and really love the dry/dark humour. The chemistry between them was great and I love that by the end of book one they're still not together. So many books have the characters arguing in chapter 1 and in love by chapter 3 but not here the writer is building this up so well. There is also the issue that he has to unalive her once he finds who's doing the unaliving and changing of humans to vampires, will he be able to do it? Will someone else beat him to it, namely his brother who's keeping a close eye on the situation not trusting his brother will be able to do it. The God also has an assistant who is hilarious and offers advice/sympathy/guidance, to both God of Death and Vivienne.
I have absolutely loved this first book in the series and the voice actors are excellent bringing to life this book on audio, the box set is on audible for free right now. Please run to download and listen!

I absolutely adored this book. It reads a bit like a noir detective novel in some ways, which is so different, and yet it just works so well for the characters. (I will preface this by saying I read the book as one whole novel, though these are actually three separate books in a series.)

Vivian is an incredibly fun main character. She’s a newly turned vampire who can’t remember her name or anything else about herself, but she doesn’t let that get her down. She’s got a fun loving, fiery spirit and she doesn’t let anyone dim her sparkle. Granted, she does go through a lot and there’s amazing character growth and trauma rep, but I loved that she wasn’t one to be kept down by other people’s expectations of her….only her own.

And Grim…OMG. Is there a more perfect shadow daddy book boyfriend? I don’t think so. He was sexy and amazing in every way. Loved the whole ‘enemies to lovers’ relationship they had at first, even if it was short lived.

I also really enjoyed the Egyptian god aspect of this. I haven’t read a ton of romance books that use them, but I actually know a bit about them (And I’ve watched too much Stargate lol) and I loved the way they were written in this.

This book has really good side characters, there’s mystery and action, great dialogue and banter and seriously steamy moments between the two main characters. This is the definitely the kind of book I’d read again.

Oh, I absolutely loved this trilogy! From the beginning to the very end. What a ride and I think I found my favourite author :) The book had it all - solid story, strong characters, spice (though not that much), dual POV, and HEA.

I truly enjoyed Vivien, she was totally unpredictable, fun and lived in the moment. Yes, some may say childish, but I just loved her energy and everything she had to offer. Especially when there were tough moments and her humour just broke through. Or the little men running her brain and Jenkins? I mean how can you not love that shit. And Cupcake? Awww, so damn cute.

Often times when reading more books, the story gets overwhelming for me, but it was not the case for this trilogy. Each book was slightly different but all was nicely tied together. And I absolutely loved the fact that the two main characters were tied at the hip and even when shit went wrong, they were badass together, not against each other.

I must say that in the last book when Grim consumed the flesh of the dead and it had the consequences, I thought I'm just gonna stop right there. It was tough to continue reading and I was wracking my brains on how this will be taken forward. So yeah, rollercoaster of emotions this one. But totally worth it.

Let me start by saying I only read the first two books of this trilogy before calling it quits. I almost DNF'ed it around 50% of the trilogy, but decided to at least finish out the second book. There's a fantastic concept here, and I'd give that about 4.5 out of 5 stars, but I just did not like the main character at all. Her inner (and external!) dialogue was so cringe to me. I couldn't stand her. Learning her backstory I feel did not help justify her childlike behavior.

Unrelated, but I also did not like the names of the reapers. They were just English names spelled backwards! Was that meant to sound exotic and Egyptian? Because that left a sour taste in my mouth thinking Esor Eitak or Acissej were being passed off as ancient Egyptian names. Katie Rose and Jessica? Come on. I wish the reapers had just been named Shade, Shadow, Bones, etc. Or given true Egyptian names!

I do so wish I could have been an editor for this series because there were so many typos and the word "base" was used instead of "bass" more than once. So I'd give the first two books a total of 3 stars. If you can stand Vivien, then I'd say to give these a read.

I give this series a solid 4 stars for the enjoyment. It was a fun, light read (at least for us that are used to the murdering and the blood and the gore lol). The romance was very fast paced but there were instances were they had to deal with their problems, which I guess was a nice touch, not that "I'll-surrender-myself-entirely" situation from the get go.
The humor was on point, I caught myself laughing a lot thanks to Vivien and the side characters.
The world building and magic aspect of it was fine, nothing insane but also a bit different from what we're used to.
I guess what I'm trying to say is — it might not be the biggest, most intricate work in literature history, but it's definitely a series I'd recommend during a book slump or when you're looking for the "booktok" kind of reading, since it's on the good side of those.

The three stories within this collection are wonderful to read. They're about Grim/Death and Vivien who got turned into a vampire. The characters are highly engaging, the prim Grim and the snarky Vivien. Their chemistry slowly burns and ignites as their relationship blossoms. There's lots of drama and action in the twisty stories. The side characters (comrades) are just as engaging. (One is starting a new serial) The plots written that Grim/Death and Vivien endure are "Edge of Your Seat" intriguing and kept me turning the pages. There are touches of humor that made me giggle. Plus, Grim/Death set his home base in Las Vegas which I could picture since I'd lived there once. This delightful collection I highly recommend reading.

Egyptian gods, vampires, adventures, and spice!

This was a fun series! It was full of unexpected wonderful adventures and great characters. As an urban fantasy I was pleasantly surprised in the world building, I’m a sucker for ancient Egypt/Egyptian gods and wasn’t expecting that when Knowing the god of death was involved with a vampire. This was such an exciting world I was thrilled to be immersed in while I devoured these books. (I read this omnibus of three books over a long weekend. I couldn’t help myself, I hated to stop reading and leave this world!) I really enjoyed these, I even got emotional when big things happened to characters. I was sad to finish the book(s) and have to end the fun. (Though I see there’s a spin-off and I’ll gladly read that!)

I loved this!

Oh, how I love Vivien and Grim!
Could you imagine waking up in the morgue, cold and naked, without any memory of who you are??? And on top of that finding out you have fangs and need to drink blood to survive??? Determined to not prey on any human you end up living in the sewer system, living off the blood of rats. Until you happen to come to the attention of the Grim Reaper. But he’s not just the Grim Reaper, oh no. He is actually a god. Anubis, the God of Death. And you are an abomination in his eyes.
This is their story. And what a story it is! A must read if you enjoy the supernatural. With a little steam. Ok, more than a little steam.

This series was a hoot to read. It had it all, a great story, intrigue, mystery, crazy and wild characters, and a main character that was so much fun to watch as the series progresses. Easily captured me and kept me glued to the end. I laughed and groaned and had trouble putting it down. And the supernatural elements were a riot and added to the fun while in sin city. Would Vivien and Grim find the answers they were looking for was fun to read about. Plus lots of romance and hilarity to enjoy.

I loved this series

I thoroughly enjoyed reading and listening to this series! I'm glad I had the ebooks in addition to the audible books because in the e-book I found a couple extra epilogs that were not in the audible version. I really enjoyed the characters, the storyline, and the romance in the series. I'm excited to see there's other books set in this world. I can't wait to explore them! For the audible books I think the narrators didn't excellent job bringing the characters to life and I really enjoyed listening to the series!

This is an incredible book. This was the complete series in one book, all three books combined with bonus epilogue chapters. There was such thought and obvious work that went into every word written and that is what made this book fabulous. This is fast paced with unending action right along with romance and steamy sex. I can’t wait to read the next book in this universe of this world that I have read, enjoyed and couldn’t get enough of.

I liked it!

I liked this series! There was action, good storyline, & character building. The spice was just the right amount. It definitely kept me interested & I would recommend it to my book friends who like supernatural stories. The MFC was witty, and her inner dialogue toward herself was fun. The MMC was the typically broody man, but his dedication to his duties were respectable. I liked the friendship building between the characters.

An exciting page turner

This was a book I found on an app, and checked to see if it was on kindle. I am so glad I read it. In this seris we meet Vivian who wakes up in the morgue and tries to peice together what happened to her. Throw in a godly conspiracy, a love triangle, with a whole lot of action, and you have the makings of one of the best summer reads.
Jeeves would recommend this book 🙂

This is such a good trilogy, compiled here in an omnibus
edition. I loved this story from the get go!!

Set in Las Vegas, Vivien ends up in the clutches of the Grim Reaper & with a new set of fangs, much to her surprise & frustration! With getting to know the cute reaper pups & wearing the most amazing blue coat, her & the grumpy God of the Dead navigate their feelings & enemies! (with the Cookie Monster in tow) 💙

A fast paced, slow burn romance between Death and the last vampire in existence.

Watching Grim, the ancient God of Death, coming to the realization not all vampires are bad and deserve to die, and indeed falling head over heels for one that is smart mouthed, witty and funny as all hell made this a delight to read.
