Red Tacoma, club promoter, is just about ready to blow the Detroit, Michigan, club scene and start over in Austin, Texas, the live music capital of America where his talents can be put to better use. After a nasty break up with a casual boyfriend, he decides the timing is perfect and heads south.

Red’s not a nice guy, though. In fact, he’s a jerk, and he takes pride in getting the job done and letting no one get in his way. Of course, some might call it arrogance, but Red doesn’t care what other people think, not even his boss at his new club gig.

Phoenix, a big bad Dom from Los Angeles, has agreed to move out to Westburg, Texas, with his husband Wade Rubashkin, and run Zachary Teak’s new BDSM club, Invitation Only. But getting a new club ready is always a challenge, one that is fraught with interesting problems, and as always with the Doms and subs of the new club, it is one filled with hilarity and smokin’ hot, sexy men.

Having lived and loved my way through Patrica's Master's Boys series I never really thought about what I expected from this, the first book in the Invitation Only series. Fortunately for everyone Patricia DOES think of these things and although the end of the last series leads seamlessly into this one there is a definite change in the feel. Yes lots of old characters return including Cade and Jake from her very first book Leather Nights and it is a little thrill every time one is mentioned as they feel like old friends. Invitation Only is a BDSM club that caters to all, gay, straight, male or female. This book is set in Texas, the main character Red has just moved there from Detroit and is job hunting. I don't think it would be unfair to say he is confident in his own abilities, in fact he is so confident what he needs is a good slap! (Good job Phoenix and Zach are around lol) We also meet some of the other employees of the club such as the barman and the chef who I feel will feature in future books, these guys appear to actually be nice! Also some of the boys have moved to Texas and are catching Red's eye, the thing that surprised me is that there is no love story in this book. A STORY yes definitely and a lead in to the next books series absolutely but I am not left screaming at the author across the Atlantic to release the next book NOW but I am now REALLY excited to read the others .... maybe I'll have to nag her a little bit ;-)

Note to self and everyone else....Read the Masters' Boys series FIRST. You will not know who the hell anyone is in this one. I've read the first in the other series so I did recognize some of the people.

Red, the MC of this book, is a complete and total douche. Not one thing to like about this fucking guy. I'm hoping he'll get some redeeming qualities later in the series. Great start but I need to go back and read the rest of the other one first. My bad! :p

Oh, oh and one sentence in this one bugged the ever lovin' shit out of me. "The scent of precome wafted to Phoenix's ears as he began to stroke the boy" What in hell kind of ears does Phoenix have? They can smell? Cool!

I listened to 30% and gave up, which is maybe not enough time to let a story grow on me. I think there are a dozen protagonists who are all working or going to work for Invitation Only. If you like to listen to the resume's of a dozen men, this is your chance. Every point of view focusses on their professional endeavors. Their 'personalities' are vague, except when discribing their sex life.
The narrator did not help. He did voices but did not know what tone each sentence needed, as the author did not provide nuances. He paused several times in most sentences, which did not help.
I think, maybe this series is a spin-off of something else, and the reader is supposed to recognize all plots and lovers.

Happy sighs. yup, Patricia knew how to make a fan-girl like me happy, going with Phoenix and Wade to Zack's new BDSM club in Texas. Oh oh and Alicia Howard! The dressed in pink domme who I was was a real person. I especially enjoyed the narration of Alicia's thoughts on submission, although I disagree with her. And the sex! I love Zack and Cassidy! And Phoenix and Wade were adorable.

I'm glad we had quite a bit of story with characters from Patricia's other series before spending more time with Red- after meeting him in the prologue. I am glad to know this is a serial and Red eventually gets better because he's a thoroughly dislikable character in his name book.

I was absolutely ecstatic to see Vesper in this book as well. She is the sweetest woman! Watching Carlos figure out that she's a transwoman and then be nice to Vesper was lovely.

I am so looking forward to the next "Invitation Only" book- Trask.

This turned out to be a bit different than what I was expecting. The established couples are setting up their new club, and we get to see scenes with each of them. Then, there is Red, the newly-hired promotions guy who has next to zero redeeming qualities. From the start, he is an arrogant asshole, and it continues throughout the entire story. There isn't really a clear idea of where he is going to fit here, which kind of confused me. There are some excuses given to somewhat explain his actions, but they weren't strong enough to make me care or forgive much of his behavior.

This was pretty much a set up story giving introductions to the characters from the other series, as well as introducing some new ones. The club is quite interesting, as are just about all of the other characters involved, and I'm looking foward to seeing some of their more detailed stories.

This was terrible. I accept its a new series based on previous characters but it reads like an interm book, not the start of the series.
It seems more a how we set up a nightclub with a sideline if the main character Red showing us he's a bit of a prick, has no comprehension of the importance consent in BDSM, and thinks he has the right to fuck anything that moves regardless of if they want it or not.
I'm not even bothering with reading on, it's genuinely not worth the time, I'm not hard for SSC, this is just urgh.

Intense!

Wonderful extension of the previous series! The main character Red so totally needs to find the Dom to put him into his right mindspace!

This is the first book of the new Series Invitation only. It picks up with Zack opening a live BDSM club in Texas with Phoenix as his manager. It is a series on its own and works fine. This book catches us up well on the other characters, who they are and their roles in this book. I will say I haven’t read many of the other books and I did fine with this one. I will say I really think I need to read silver ties and meet some of these other hot, sexy guys though.

Though this is supposed to be reds story I felt he didn’t get enough time. I would have really liked the story to have focused more on Red, though I see the need to introduce us to the others as well. I would have liked to know more of his past and I really thought he is an arrogant Ass. I am sure we haven’t seen the last of him though. All books need a trouble maker and I will say he has me hooked.

There are some very hot and sexy sex scenes both in and out of the club. There is even a kink scene of pony fetish.

For such a short book this was very engaging. There was just so much going on I wish it had been split into perhaps one of just invitation only opening then more Red. That’s just my two cents. It was a very good story and I am eager to meet the rest of these sexy men and more Invitation only!

If you like sex clubs, BDSM, fetishes, pony play, intriguing men, and some really hot man-sex this is definitely for you.

Uh. How to even write up my thoughts on this book.

Let's start with this. When I start a new series by any author, I get that the first book may not end up being as outstanding as #2. Most of the time, #1 is spent laying the ground work for the entire series and so some authors can spend way too much time in elaborate description of people, places, things in order to give the reader the breadth and depth to handle the rest of the series.

With this book, the description says that it's about a club promoter, Red Tacoma. He moves to Austin, TX to start over. He ends up getting hired on at a new BDSM club which is fraught with interesting problems.

So from the description, I was thinking that this first book would set-up the importance of this character Red, the BDSM club and introducing us to other characters who would be focused on in book #2, #3, etc... and it does that...to some extent. The main issue I have is that the character of Red is an a**hole who we get no back story about on why he is the way he is. We also don't get any sort of redeeming moments for him. The book doesn't end in a cliff hanger. It ends in a state of limbo which is why I've been having difficulty on how to rate this book.

Since I paid for it, I'm not all that eager to move on to book #2 because it could also end in the same manner (i.e. more frustration and no hints to what the real story is).

I am a HUGE Patricia Logan fan, but I would never had known about any of her work had it not been for one of my very good friends :) I may be a little slow on the uptake with Patricia's books, but I sure am working my way through them as fast as I can read them.

If I had been in the same room as Red, I think I would have knocked the arrogant asshole on his ass. The story about Red is so warming and exciting to read. We get a glimpse into why he is the man he is and you can't help but love the guy. I think he's maybe a little misunderstood and hopefully we will see more of his dazzling personality in the remaining books in the series. I am definitely hooked and I want more!!!!!! Get writing Patricia :)

2.5 stars--This was my first read by Ms. Logan, and I have to say I was a bit disappointed. The book was not inviting. The storyline was mediocre. The tone was cold, and the sex wasn't any better.

Even though this is the first in a series, I get the impression that it is a spinoff from earlier series. While I'm sure that having more background would have made for a better experience, I honestly didn't find much to like in Logan's writing. I had planned to read the entire series--I chose the books for a couple of Goodreads' challenges, but I think I may have to change those selections. I'm not be in any hurry to read more from this author.

This is a set up story to explain the beginning the series.
We have scenes from the existing couples that are hot.
And then we have Red who is a douche. Don't know where or how he fits in. There is something in Reds past that he is alluding to that made him the arrogant douche he is in this book. Hope we find that out soon.
Going to have to read more to understand whats happening here.

Disappointing. I found the writing style stilted and the story didn't seem to be going anywhere interesting so I gave up. Maybe I'll try to read one of the books from the earlier series as reviews of Patricia Logan's works are very positive on the whole...

Damm.. this is a great book to the start of the series.
I wonder why I didn't see this series sooner as already gotten the other books for these guys in other books. Russell or Red as per his hair colour moved away from Detroit for something better. Zack and Phoenix were renovating a club of its past life into a new club called Invitation Only. Everything was going smoothy but they needed a club promoter to get news out there.
Red get the job with his conference and know it all attitude when he goes over board it just might be his undoing. It was great to reconnect with all the guys and girls again, I'll be grabbing more of them.
