In just two months, five customers had large amounts of money stolen while in flight! Such cases became a headache for the cops. Harried and frustrated for a while, they found a clue while screening the names and ID numbers of all the customers. One day, when the thief showed up again on the airplane, a cop quietly followed. The cop sat there nonchalantly with his "third eye" watching and waiting for the fish to bite.
I really enjoyed the book overall (graded readers are the best!), but I give this volume "only" four stars for two reasons: 1) no Kindle version available, and 2) the story was interesting but a bit cheesy. Still, for a graded reader, it's hard to expect much in the way of character development or any real emotion. Overall, I liked the Mandarin Companion Graded Readers better, and I'm hoping they publish more materials suitable for intermediate and advanced learners.
This is my first level 3 CB graded reader; I've read all the level 1 offerings and most of the level 2 for CB, as well as all the Mandarin Companion books at this point (and a few other brands here and there).
For those familiar with CB readers, this is familiar territory with an expanded vocabulary. I find the grammar in the CB readers tends to be more advanced for the level while the vocabulary tends to be more textbook-y. The plot, as with most of them, resolves a little too easily and it's a little bit of a letdown; I always expect some great surprise or conspiracy and these books are usually simpler than that.
I will say that once you get past the seemingly endless graded readers at the ~500 character level, it's hard to find offerings between that and native materials, especially stories set in modern times, so I really appreciate the gradually increasing difficulty of this series.
