This book is a wonderful start for Japanese learners. Most Japanese books I have seen for beginner learners will have a side by side Japanese to English translation which I don't typically prefer. I find it best to read the story the best you can, even if you don't understand every word. This book helps you practice that. At the end of each chapter there will be keywords to review. I found the level was perfect for me and I look forward in continuing to grow my Japanese reading ability with Japanese Language Park. I am very happy they have multiple books within different levels to peruse. I will definitely continue buying from them.

Additionally I wanted to say there are tips at the beginning for how to read in your target language. I have found the tips incredibly helpful, and I have been writing my own book reports in Japanese after reading each selected story. It helped me practice new words I had learned from the stories as well as outputting my own Japanese.

i love it!

I realized that duolingo wasn’t doing it for me. Thats when i decided to look to other sources for learning, i realized that reading would be the best and i finally tried this book and it turned out that this is so much better and i love that im understanding, this book can teach you lots. Therefore don’t be scared, the way you get know something you don’t know is by getting to know it.

This book was very good in helping build my confidence in my Japanese reading. The vocabulary was not too challenging but provided me a new format of consuming Japanese. With helpful durians and questions to help your understanding I couldn’t recommend this enough for people trying to improve and immerse themselves in Japanese language

This book requires a basic grasp on grammar grasp and a certain fluency reading both hiragana and katana, but once you're there, it's both helpful and enjoyable. The stories are nice, the pictures and vocabulary lists help clarify everything... I bought the rest of the collection after finishing this.

My first ever book read in Japanese ! I really like the concept - short stories, with questions and summary in English afterwards, ideal for Japanese learners. Stories are funny and interesting, despite the simple use of language, which makes it a lot more fun to read than for example children's books in Japanese. It helped me tremendously in my reading !

Very good book for beginners to practice reading. Only thing that would make it better is if it also had the story once without furigana at the end (for example where it's together with the translation) so one can test if the Kanji stick or prevent being too fast in reading the furigana instead of thinking about how the Kanji is read - that would be even better for practice.

My first book in Japanese! You need something like this to start with Japanese, coz Hiragana is included and there`s an English translation which is necessary. After all, Japanese is not French or Spanish, so you need some help at this level.

A rewarding read. I appreciated how they became progressively (albeit very mildly) harder to read and the comprehension questions.
My favorite was the first story about the young deer and my least favorite was the one about counting.

A great book for practicing Japanese!

I decided that I would start learning Japanese earlier this year, and this was a fun little read to help supplement my learning.

Great beginner-level stories. Especially useful on kindle, where you can directly translate words or sentences if needed. Had fun reading this little book ☺️
