Handsome, successful, and charming Donovan Taylor could crook his finger and gain the attention of any woman. As a twenty-one-year-old, he dated a woman who looked like a Victoria Secret’s model and had the investment brains of Warren Buffet. As a twenty-five-year-old, he began working for one of the biggest and most powerful law firms, and has worked himself to the top of the food chain ever since.
With everything in life going his way, Donovan never expected to be so confused and upended by a girl, ten years his junior; a girl he once considered his fifth sister. Spunky, beautiful, and smart Delaney Reid loves life, loves her family, and has loved Donovan Taylor ever since she could remember. Delaney has had her say in her novel, Unlikely Attraction – Delaney’s Story. Now, it’s time to hear from Donovan.
I started writing back in Dec of 2009 after I saw an interview with Stephenie Meyers. She told Oprah that she always had stories in her head and that struck a chord with me. Whenever I drive, I have all kinds of stories circulating in my mind. Generally, I am the star of this story and many wacky things happen. Of course, I make the story quite complimentary and beneficial to me. I guess you could say Meyers channeled my head case into a novel.
I am first a wife and a mother, as well as a restauranteur and a caterer. Writing is my last profession and a late-found one. I have a B.A. and an M.Ed from UCLA (yes, just like Emily) and taught 1st grade for four years till I had my first child, a son. Two years later, I had my daughter and the two kids ran my life till they both started school. My husband and I opened a restaurant in LA when we first got married and have been in the food service industry for almost 17 years.
I think I’ve always been a foodie at heart and though it sounds strange, loving food did not have anything to do with opening up a restaurant. That was all my husband’s idea. I didn’t even know I could cook till I got married. And then I discovered, I love cooking! I love everything related to food. Eating, first, cooking second, cleaning a definite last. I could do without the cleaning from the prep work and the mound of dishes created after a meal. But, that’s a whole other blog in and of itself. Whenever we plan a family trip, and especially when my husband and I go on a couple’s trip, it’s based around what we want to eat, or which restaurants we want to visit. Hubby and I did a trip to Austin one summer just to eat BBQ. The trip to Rome was for pasta, Tokyo was for ramen and sushi, and in Paris, we gorged on treats from all the beautiful patisseries. The two best meals of my life were at Taillevent and Joel Robuchon in Paris (I am amending this last sentence as I think the best meal of my life was the one I recently had at Masa in NYC). All of these places and restaurants sound familiar? :) NYC is our favorite city (and yes, Emily’s favorite city as well) for dining. But… I digress.
Even with the crazy schedule, I hope to keep writing. Entwined, my third novel, is out on Amazon and Smashwords, iBooks, Nook, and Kobo. And for those of you who have been with me from the beginning know that Indelible Lovin’ – Max & Jane’s Story is done and also sold at the e-retailers listed above, in two volumes. I am currently working on another story titled, Unlikely Attraction, as well as another Indelible Lovin’ blog story. I hope to see many more Reiders come Dec. 2013, when the new blog is unveiled.
Thank you for visiting my website and I am truly humbled and grateful for the outpouring of love Indelible Love and Entwined have received. Check back for updates on my writings, travels, and everything Reid/Taylor/Davis.
What can I really say? I loved Delaney's side of the story and can't wait for Donovan's! If you haven't read Delaney's side - Unlikely Attraction, it is a must read! I just read NPA, and I have been counting down the hours until the release and was not disapointed! Donovan and Laney's story is a captivating one.
A 11 year old with a crush on her cousin's 21 year old friend. They don't see each other again for years, but when they do, it's obvious to everyone except for them, that they are a fairytale story waiting for their own happy ending. But sadly, the clock strikes midnight more than once through their story.
Most of the stories make Donovan look like the bad buy, he makes Delaney cry more than any man should. Yet she still forgives him. And when Laney moves away to start a life without Donovan Taylor, he realizes that he may have messed up his chance with his very own Cinderella.
He goes from Kate, but realizes he doesn't love her enough to marry her anymore, to Jane who to them they were just harmlessly flirting with each other. But once his head is cleared up, Delaney finally breaks up with her first boyfriend to try things out with Donovan after he has to jump through hoops to get her back.
From the fashion show to the wedding, their love is truly a fairytale. Some books make the happily ever after too easy, but Donovan and Laney have the mix of broken glass slippers and true love's kiss to last a life time, and make for an incredible book.
You may want to strangle Donovan throughout Laney's story, but you start to get an understanding of him in this book of why he acted the way he did. Since Laney was like a sister to him growing up, having feeling for her was difficult for him to come to terms with. So who wouldn't be excited to see how he does come to terms with these feelings?
Jake and Emily keep telling him over and over that they are perfect for each other, and so do the Taylor parents.
I do love how this book goes in detail about the wedding night, gives you more details on the scenes and show the way Donovan treats Delaney when she is pregnant. It also shows how much he loves his new bride, no matter how horrible of a singer she can be.
If you haven't read Unlikely Attraction - Delaney's Story, then I highly encourage you to read it. And after you have, or if you already have, buy Near Perfect Attraction - Donovan's Story. So for any of you other D.W. fans, or anyone looking for a good book, stop looking. Because here it is! NPA comes out Feb. 11th! I promise you, you will be in love with this series, and I haven't even read the whole thing yet!
I love this author, and I have read each and every one of her books. This is the 7th book in this series, and it did not disappoint. DW is known among her "Reiders" for attention to detail, her relate-able characters, her wonderful plot lines and her amazing ability to pull it all together. This entire series has been the primary focus of two families, the Reid's and the Taylor's. Jake Reid and Donovan Taylor have been best friends all their lives and have always been there for each other. The first 2 books in the series is Jake's and Emily's story one from Emily's POV and the other from Jake's), both are must reads. Jane, Jake's younger sister and Max, Emily's first love (I know, it's complicated) get the next 2 volumes, which is full of angsty angst and will keep you on the edge of your reading chair yelling at your Kindle, lol! Then comes Laney's story; she is Jake and Jane's first cousin and has been in love with Donovan Taylor since she was 10 years old, who just happens to be 10 yrs older than she. So all that history has built up to finally getting Donovan's side of the story. Donovan always had a soft spot in his heart for the beautiful, precocious blonde hair blue eyed Delaney Reid; but he was falling for Kate, who was 10 yrs his senior and an accomplished attorney. His life is divided into 3 phases: his Kate phase, his Jane phase (this one gets pretty messy) and finally his Laney phase. As Reiders following this amazing journey, we get to travel the globe, see a softer, gentler side of Donovan, and a lot of lose ends and unanswered questions were finally revealed. This is a series worth investing in, as it will grab you and keep you addicted to all things Reid/Taylor/Davis related. I now know and love all these characters and can't wait for the next edition in the saga. Next we get to focus on the youngest Reid, Nick who swears he will never marry or have kids, and his attraction to Bee Taylor, Donovan's young aunt who along with her budding design career wants nothing more than a husband and kids: this one is a crazy roller coaster ride. Oh and I forgot to mention that Bee is also being wooed by Michael, who happens to be a Duke and whose lost love is none other than Laney Taylor (Ok, are you keeping up?). We are also awaiting the nuptials of Jane and Max this summer; so you see this has been quite the adventure, so why don't you come along for the ride, I guarantee you will have a blast! Thanks D W for another wonderful "Reid".
I have long been a fan of Donovan Taylor. His presence in the previous books by DW Cee has always sparked my interest. While Jake Reid appears to be the perfect man and husband, my heart has always belonged to Donovan. After reading Delaney's Story I waited anxiously to hear Donovan's take on the events in his life. Unfortunately, I could not read the book as soon as it was released but once I began it, I found it hard to put down.
The book chronicles Donovan's encounters with the major romantic players in his life: Kate, Jane and Delaney. The book spans Donovan's love life from college into the business world. As a young stud, Donovan thought himself in love with a much older, more worldly woman, Kate. Once she crushed his romantic dream, they maintained an on again/off again relationship for a long time. Donovan imagined that Jane Reid was a picture perfect fit for him; they were both driven, in the same profession, and had a similar personality. Once they decide to give the "romance" a whirl, the results were humorous.
In the back of his mind, Donovan always knew that neither of the women he courted was the right one. The right one was right under his nose and much younger than him. However, she had been desperately in love with him since she was ten years old. The majority of the book Donovan fights what his heart knows is right. Once he decided to pursue Delaney, it appeared she had moved on. The story of Donovan is a highly romantic, sensual story of true love. The Reid/Taylor/Davis families are among my favorite characters. Each person in the cul-de-sac was someone I knew not only through Ms. Cee's books, but each reminded me of someone in my life, Donovan especially. While we do not share the age difference of Donovan and Delaney, my husband is the real life embodiment of the handsome Donovan Taylor. I urge you to read the entire saga of the Reid family, but if you decide to skip; you need to read Delaney's Story before Donovan's, many questions from Unlikely Attraction are answered in Near Perfect Attraction. Enjoy.
Wow....this book was absolutely AMAZING!!!! I was one of the lucky winners that got to read the book ahead of time!!! D.W. Cee did it again....as always this book was even better than the last one! I loved reading Donovan's POV, seeing what goes on, how he's feeling, just everything he's thinking was interesting;) He is a very funny guy and at times even though he was a confident man he still had many insecurities, which was adorable;) I loved how the author went back in time to the college days and told a wonderful sweet story! While reading this book I actually felt like I was part of the story going through all the emotions with them, when they were sad, happy, and made me shed a couple tears, but I loved every minute of it!!! I'm so in love with Donovan and Delaney and want to keep reading about them....so I hope we get to read more about them all in the future!!! All her books have been amazing....in all honesty this was my favorite Reid (Taylor);)
D.W. Cee warned us reiders that Donovan might take the place of Jake as our favorite male character and I think she might have been right! Despite thinking he was a total self-serving jackass during the Indelible Lovin' books and most of Laney's story, he's really just your average guy totally freaked out at falling in love for the first time. I enjoyed getting some more details about dates, periods of time, and the wedding planning that were definitely a gap in Laney's book.
I read the entire Reid Family series again prior to the release of NPA and while I adored reading the Indelible Love books for the 3rd or 4th time (maybe more?), I have to say I was increasingly disappointed by the Max & Jane's story. The story clearly needs to exist to bridge Jake/Emily's story with Laney/Donovan's but it's weak in comparison and I really don't like Jane!
I was one of the lucky ones to win this unedited copy of NPA... And let me say I love Donovan's POV!! Don't get me wrong Laney's POV was just as good but to read it from a guys POV esp from the player himself is very refreshingly funny. He was all over the place. Such a determined and demanding fella, once he sets his mind at what he wants. I thought I love jake/Emily or Jane/maxs stories but Laney/Donovan's story is prob my most favorite because these 2 are crazy hysterical. I love how they can banter w one another. They are a perfect mixture. It also proves that age is just a number. When u find that one person your soul mate why fight it. Just grab that chance n enjoy the ride. HEA...
Thank you DW you did an awesome job once again. I loved all the Reid's/Taylor's/Davis crews!!! :)
I am really looking forward to Donovans POV because i was in love with him from the first moment. Also i think it will be rater interesting what he has to say to some situations.
********* I was so exited to read this book and D.W. did not disappoint, if i hadnt been in love before with Donovan i would have fallen for him now. His POV was really interesting and to see him struggle and oh so insecure, a d´totally different Donovan. It was also heartwarming to finally see him come around. Can´t wait for the next "Reid" and meanwhile i try to wait patiently for the next Blog
The teasers amount that I have read so far makes me want to keep reading. But since the whole book isn't out yet, I know this will be another great book. I have a chance to read Kate portion and was very happy with the content! It going to be very hard to pick my favorite book that is for sure! You won't be disappointment! I can't wait until it release. I never had a author like Mrs Cee who go beyond for her fans! Cant wait to read this book! I know I want to read what been going through Donovan mind with Kate, Jane, and Delaney.
Im not sure how I feel about this. I was disappointed with Laney's story and I really wish Donovan can make it right but im not so moved. My issue is with how Laney was portrayed and it makes me not even want to go there with his side of the story. I am so torn because Im waiting for redemption but the damage to her character in my mind is done. I've moved on to the love of Nick and Bee and Michael. I don't want to sound like a downer but It will take a character over all to make me put Laney in my good graces, but it might be well to see from the males side.
I have said it before and I will say it again. DW Cee is a NY Times best seller in waiting.
Just when I thought DW Cee couldn't blow me away anymore with her writing, she brings out Donavan's story which made me fall in love with more than I did in UA. I never thought I would be saying this as I was team Max but move over Max as I have moved on to team Donavan.
Cannot recommend DW Cee books enough I am so glad that I found not only DW as an author but also her books and blogs.
Once again DW Cee had me on the edge of my sit reading until I was finish now upset I have finished this book and wait patiently for Monday and Thursday Blogg. Move over Jake your not number one anymore Donovan has win my heart and racy quiet Delaney has capture my heart the sexy little princess. I love the way Donovan has so many insecurities going through his head. They are such a great and loving couple once they final get there loved it!!!
I can't believe they finally got together, how romantic. I loved it, I couldn't put it down because I needed to know what was going to next. There were times when I laughed my head off and there were other times when I wanted to scream at Donovan. I think you did a wonderful job in writing Donovans story. Keep up the great work, can't wait for Max and Jane's wedding. I think everyone should read this.
D. W. Cee gives us the male point of view in "Near Perfect Attraction" Donovan (aka Prince Charming's point of view) companion book to "Unlikely Attraction" Delaney's Story which is a modern Cinderella Story. I have read Kate's portion of NPA, and am looking forward to the release of this completed book.
Just like allll the other books. i am in love with the reids and taylors. i wanted to kick Donovans ass a bit but I already knew it worked out so kept up the reading. Loved seeing it from Donovans perspective, i wish half of the men were at least like that and one of them was for me!!!
once again, I could not put this book down! I tried to read it slower, but finished it in one sitting. I love to read the different point of views in each of d.w. cee's books and am totally on team donovan. can't wait to see what happens next with the reid/taylor family.
iBooks review 1/14/14 I read the Kate B portion of the book a few days ago.. and what can i say? i want more. Cant wait! I love all the characters..well maybe except Lily.. hahaha..
What an amazing book. You can't help get caught up in the story. If you love this bOok you should read all dw cee books they are amazing. The Reid's are such an amazing family with so much love
