This book discusses the evidence that we are all descendants of a small band of humans who lived in Africa about 200,000 years ago. It was published in 1990, so it is dated--I am sure there have been updates to the science by now. It is a very interesting topic, unfortunately Brown concentrates way too much on the squabbles between scientists for my taste.

A book about the endeavor to discover human origins. I read this years ago (like a decade and a half), but I remember it being good.
