From USAToday bestselling author Jean Brashear

Hollywood's hot playboy stuntman Randall Mackey replaced the adrenaline rush of his career in the SEAL Teams with another life courting danger, but that existence is jeopardized by injury. The sexy bad boy of Sweetgrass Springs returns to the town where his teenage exploits made him a legend, only to find that his buddy's tomboy little sister has grown up in very interesting ways. If he thinks, however, that gifted horse trainer Rissa Gallagher will simply fall into his arms and help him dodge dealing with a haunting past and a future that looks grim, Mackey might want to think again.

Rissa Gallagher has been abandoned by everyone in her family except the hard-hearted father who is physically present but cold and critical. She is the last hope for the land that has been in her family for six generations, and though Mackey is pure temptation incarnated in one very sexy package, he can never be more than a fling when the only thing he does better than make love is…leave.

The second story in USAToday bestselling Texas romance author Jean Brashear's much-loved TEXAS HEROES: The Gallaghers of Sweetgrass Springs series.

A letter to Rod Stewart resulting in a Cinderella birthday for her daughter sowed the seeds of New York Times and USAToday bestselling author Jean Brashear's writing career. A lifelong avid reader, at the age of forty-five with no experience and no training, she decided to see if she could write a book. It was a wild leap that turned her whole life upside down, but she would tell you that though she's never been more terrified, she's never felt more exhilarated or more alive. She's an ardent proponent of not putting off your dreams until that elusive 'someday'—take that leap now.

Over fifty published novels later, the five-time RITA finalist and RTBookReviews Career Achievement Award winner has accumulated a whole passel of war stories to swap and loves nothing better than talking writing and books with readers and fellow writers.

And she'd still take that leap, war wounds and all.

Texas Wild is not for the faint of heart. Randall and Rissa are a spirited pair. He's the runner, always searching for a new adventure. She's the loner content to thrive on her own. They share nothing in common, but their hearts are intent on pulling them together. Can two broken hearts find the strength to heal on the untameable Texas terrain? Brashear and Dove are right on time when it comes to bringing to life captivating.

Ms Brashear did it again. She continues to hold our interest throughout the entire book. Her characters are lovable, and the storyline is believable.

Love this town and the people in it. Can't wait to meet more.

Returning to Sweetgrass Springs, Mackey rediscovers the past that he has never been able to forget. It was the one place he could call home and that gave him stability, despite the trouble he raised whilst living there. Part of his rediscovery is that the little girl that used to follow him and his friends around has grown into a beautiful woman, his match in every way. The only problem is that Rissa doesn't have time for relationships, and certainly not with someone who is here today and gone tomorrow. The attraction between Mackey and Rissa sizzled from the moment they met once again and ignited into an inferno. Despite his past and apparent glamorous lifestyle, Mackey has more substance than Rissa at first thought and as the book progresses, she has increasing difficulty in keeping him at a distance. However, she knows that in spite of her father's taciturn and harsh manner, she is all that he has and without her, their family ranch doesn't have a hope of surviving. When Rissa's life is in danger Mackey comes to the realisation that if he wants to keep her, he is going to have to make some tough decisions. This warm-hearted romance is well written and emotive and touched all the right spots for me. I read this book as part of the “A Cowboy Kind of Night” box set, which I received as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.

Read this in a boxed set.

Loved these two stories, and then the coming together of all the clan in the third.
The first, Ian’s and Scarlett’s is a great romance. The girl finds the family she never new she had, a man to love and a town that embraces her.
The second Mackey and Rissa’s story of a childhood crush. Mackey with his issues from the war and Rissa’s from being left behind by her family. But in the end love wins out.
The third story brings everyone together in a double wedding.
Now don’t forget the lady ghost waiting to pass over, because the man she saved never returned.
Narration was superb.

I enjoy visiting Sweetgrass Springs. You can't beat the feeling of love, family, loyalty, and safety.

Mackey and Rissa had demons to put behind them. With the support of family and friends, plus the trauma Rissa had to endure, they found success in breaking down the last barriers to their HEA.

The narration on this book was excellent. Eric Dove was able to provide each character with their own voice and personality, so that you could do nothing else but be completely engaged in the story.

I voluntarily listened to and reviewed this audio book received from the author. I own the Kindle version that I also read and reviewed.

Texas Wild by Jean Brashear is a great read. Ms Brashear has delivered a nice smooth read, a very well-written book. Mackey and Rissa's story is loaded with lovable characters, drama, action, humor and spice. I enjoyed reading Texas Wild and look forward to reading more from Jean Brashear in the future. Texas Wild is book 2 of the Texas Heroes: The Gallaghers of Sweetgrass Springs Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

I really enjoyed Rissa and Mackey's story, I just knew there was something bad lurking under the surface. With the tension between Rissa, Mackey and her Dad, I just waited for the blow up to happen. Rissa and Mackey made me laugh with the way they circled each other it was like watching a boxing match. When it came down to it Mackey found away to step up, for Rissa and Eric. I found all the characters grew a lot. Jean Brashear brought a tears to my eyes at the end with Mackey and Eric. I loved this book.

Hot shot stuntman Randall Mackey is returning to Sweetgrass Springs to recover from an injury and to reconnect with the only people who truly loved him. He is welcomed by Ruby and Ian but then he meets up with Rissa Gallagher, and finds the little girl grown up into a fascinating woman. As he tries to draw closer to Rissa, she resists. Rissa has learned the hard way that all the people she loves will leave her. Her brother and her sister both left her with a cold uncaring father. But slowly Mackey makes headway but can he get Rissa to love him and give him the reason he needs to stay?

Mackey is a wanderer and thrill seeker who never felt connected to anyone or anywhere. Returning to Sweetgrass to heal was a shot in the dark and confronting his feelings makes him uncomfortable. One of those is Rissa. Her strength amazes him and his feelings for her something he never expected. Two strong people, used to taking care of everything themselves, are in for the fight of their lives. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

Good read

This book has humor, hot sex, romance, loads of angst, and a teeny bit of danger. A former Navy SEAL turned Hollywood stuntman returns to the small town where he was happiest. His best friend's little sister has all grown up and very appealing. But he has a lot of baggage and she knows he won't stay for long. And the sparks fly. Every well written. Highly recommend the series.

I liked seeing who Rissa really is and why she was so cranky. It was so good to see that Rissa come out of her shell. Mackey came back to town to heal after an accident and realizes that Rissa has grown up and is beautiful. These two are forced to spend time together and really get close to each other. The ending was really good and even Rissa's dad proved he wasn't all bad.

I am addicted to the Gallagher family and all the people of Sweetgrass Springs. I can't put the books down until I have read the whole thing. Then can't wait to start the next one. I love how they all tie together and make you want to visit and meet everyone.

Mackey/ Rise's story.. I found this book funny and very intriguing. The story kept your interest, and was difficult to put down. A story of two stubborn people and how they got along and what they had to give up. I love reading Jean's books.

Each of the books in this series makes me want to read the next. I like that the books are stand alone stories, but the characters appear in each, sometimes in the background and sometimes with a bit more emphasis. In Texas Wild, Mackey returns home to recover from a recent injury he suffered while working on a movie. Ian, one of his best friends from high school (Jackson is the other), sends Mackey to help Jackson's sister Clarissa, on the family horse ranch. When Mackey left Sweetgrass Springs, Rissa was twelve, well she's all grown up now and sparks fly almost immediately.

I really enjoyed this installment. There was a lot more going on than just a love story and the will he stay or will he break her heart. Mackey may not break Rissa's heart, but Eric's story is going to at least dent yours.

I loved this series, so far, of the Gallagher's stories. the characters were so rich and so real and the emotions were so weaved into the story that I was truly drawn in and didn't want the book to end. These are the kind of stories that, when you choose the final page, you just sigh like at the ending of a really good movie. I can't wait for the third book to come out. I also loved how the characters from the first book fed right into the second and their stories continued.

another great book in the series. Jean has a way of building background for her characters so it's a story about a small Texas town and the amazing characters that make up the town and not all about the love story.
