A love story that sets the world on fire. . . Literally.

Elizabeth spent her life preparing for the worst. As one of the fiercest MMA fighters in the USA, nothing scared her.

Until the dragons came.

To save her younger siblings, Liz makes a deal with the dragon prince sent to destroy them all. She also makes secret plans to take him down. But the more she learns and the deeper she gets, the more confusing things become.

The dragon prince isn't who she thought he was, and Liz begins to wonder what happens when an avenging angel falls for the devil himself.

If you like dragon shifter romance, then this totally unique new series will probably knock your scaly socks off.

Wow is my reaction to this book. It was so good, I didn’t want to put it down. If you are a lover on fantasy but tend not to read a ton of it because of the sex scenes then this book is definitely for you. (Even if you like the sec scenes you’ll still love this book!) I love how the author can write such good chemistry between the two main characters (Liz and Axel) without needing to make them jump I to bed together. Also it was fun for my imagination to picture the dragons at the George R Brown Convention center as I was just there this past summer. I hope they didn’t ruin Minute Maid Park though. I mean it was playoff season when they arrive after all. But seriously, what a great new dragon book. I love too that it’s set on earth but you know there’s so much back story there, verses a completely different world you are trying to picture from the very beginning. I can’t wait for the next book!

At 67%. I think I'm done.

This story is interesting, and so are some of the characters. But it's a chaotic mess that isn't clear about anything.

We have dragons who have returned to Earth to retrieve this mysterious object that is unnamed. There are the humans who are "ensnared" or sort of hypnotized by the dragons, serving as a slave-like group to care for and protect the dragons from any rebellious humans intent on destruction. Then, we have the female lead, who is, of course, oh-so-special, with secret unidentified and yet to be revealed powers, also enslaved to a lesser prince (of course) who begins to cherish her, sort of. Maybe. I really can't tell from the limp, oddly hollow writing.

What we don't have is any real understanding of what is actually happening. There's a very odd blankness to this book. The characters don't seem to have much emotion. We are often TOLD what is happening. We are rarely SHOWN anything. There are battles that take place and end in a few sentences. When the female lead is confronted by her mother, who is enslaved to another evil dragon, we don't get any feelings from either character, just a few paragraphs of the altercation as if it's no biggie. Then the female lead somehow gets kidnapped by a group of religious-styled nutbags who travel a long way to throw her in a volcano. Or maybe it's a hallucination. It's never made clear. Later, the female lead is wounded and begins asking for her mother, like a child. But again, it's very out of context and cold, like we are simply observing this. There's no real emotions here. We get text telling us what's happening, but that's it. I still don't have a grasp on who the female lead IS. Many conflicting thoughts are attributed to her, but none make sense, they all swing wildly in multiple directions, and they just make a sloppy mess of a character.

I can see that the author is trying to build a romance. But she would have been better off creating real characters with real emotions.and real personality traits, then built the story around them. Basically, the writing just isn't good.

This story is a YA bucket full of badly done tropes all sloshed together in the hopes it swirls into a real story. It's not happening. The thought of having to slog through multiple volumes to get to the end (which can easily be predicted) makes my head hurt.

I gave it my best shot. Plot inconsistencies and erratic worldbuilding really drag this down. DNF at 50%.

Really enjoyed this unique take on an urban fantasy world and dragon shifters! I can't wait to find out what happens in the next books and get to know our shifters more. Liz was a fun character to learn about and Axel made me laugh out loud several times. This book is setting up the world and characters for the rest of the series, so if it interests you even in the slightest, keep going to book 2!

Ensnared is like Twilight meets Jody Hedlund’s Knights of the Brethren series meets Marvel.

Ummmm, Bridget, what have you done to me? This book may have thrown me firmly into the fantasy readers camp.
What a rush! I love how Axel and Liz literally come from two different worlds and have to challenge their own perceptions of what is/was good and right.
Also, Liz is an MMA fighter. So much strength.
Great characters here.
How long until book 2? I'm ready now!
While the era may be different, I think fans of Jody hedlund’s Knights of Brethren series would really enjoy this book.

I started this book this afternoon. By chapter three I was hooked but had to put it down to be an adult. But once I got home around 9pm, I could not stop reading. This book was way too good and captivating. It’s now 2:30am and I just finished reading it. I graduated college two decades ago. Aside from waking up for sick children, I cannot remember the last time I was up this late. Great book and it really sucks you in. I’ve never read this sort of story before but I’ve read other genres from this author and loved them so I gave this book a chance. Absolutely captivating but I’m afraid to start the next one until I have a whole day free as I know I won’t be able to put that one down either.

I absolutely love this main character! She’s tough and hilarious and she packs a pinch!

Once again, this author’s humor shines through as she builds this fantasy world inside our real world and brings us into another world. This time, a world of dragons! Well, errr, yeah, they are dragons. Just don’t call them that to their faces…

So-humor, dragons, real world and fantasy collide, clean romance, amazing main character-this book has everything you want in a good dragon shifter story!

If you loved My Queendom for a Horse, this is your next series. And, when you finish this one and are sad the next one isn’t out yet, go read Queendom while you wait!

The book has problems with pacing. The author is good with writing conflict and the witty banter between the heroine and her dragon improved over the course of the book. The book feels half finished, there was no main story arc conclusion. Instead the book ends abruptly with the introduction of new characters on a 'cliff hanger'. I feel that with some additional editing this book and the characters in it are solid but the book feels very rough edged as it is.

Welcome to Dragons and low Fantasy!

I began The Dragons Captured series after falling head-over-heels for the captivating Fourth Wing.
Desperate for more Fantasy surrounding Dragons, I picked up Ensnared and didn’t stop until I’d read all 3 of the released books (the 4th is set to release in August, 2025).

📖This review will contain spoilers.

📌Plot: The story unfolds in modern USA, a normal world with normal laws, and more or less devoid of magic. Dragons will become the theme of these books quite quickly; however, our foundation is laid in the exact same world and (more or less) time period in which we live, complete with references to real-life celebrities and cities.
If you’re a lover of High Fantasy, Book 1 may leave something to be desired; however, the low fantasy does evolve throughout our series until the lines blur and we find ourselves in a world of Norse mythology, Dragon riding, and magic.
Our plot’s focus begins after our MC is captured by a Dragon, as Dragons suddenly appear on Earth and begin a rampage of destruction and enslavement.
The storyline then follows our less-than-obedient (now enslaved) human, her siblings, and her Dragon Master in his mission on Earth.
The Book ends with our MC assisting the dragons, and beginning to redefine the enslavement of thousands of humans as they prepare to embark on the Dragon’s true quest.

📌Romance:
Our enemies to lovers dynamic feels a bit forced at times early on, and I found myself wishing for a bit more of a progression; however, if you continue the series the plot thickens and the foundation for an actual romance emerges.
This is definitely a Romantasy. Book 1 features foundation-laying for the series arc, fleshing out the details of why the Dragons are here and what they are, and finally our MCs enslavement and an enemies-to-lovers romance arc.
Our book ends with a romantic rival (a female dragon) arriving on Earth, leaving our MC in turmoil.

📌Rating:
My rating mostly reflects a desire for more in-depth danger, drama, and war. Our focus on the romance tried to draw away from the true gravity of the disaster unfolding on Earth, which softened the extreme events happening to our MC. This is remedied, in my opinion, in the sequels.
I also prefer High Fantasy, which of course left me less than satisfied with grocery stores, MMA fighting, and Houston, Texas; but that is obviously a personal preference.

Bridget Baker’s 🐲Dragon Captured🐲 Series describes an invasion of the world, but with dragons?!

Dragons? Say no more. Dragon shifters?? Goodness now we are talking a different story. This novel is hilarious, witty, and unpredictable novel. I mean how can you predict a dragon invasion. The pace of the novel makes you keep turning the pages and the dragons though fire breathing, and murdering creatures, you can’t help but love some of them. And also, what would you do to save the ones you love? Would you enter into a contract with a people eating, city destroying dragon?

I really like how the author wrote this novel to be torn between loving the enemy and siding with her “people.” The banter between the characters had me smiling and the absurdity of every character situation was jaw dropping. How could you not love the sweet interaction between naive children and naive dragons. The author did a great job in tying human mythology to the lore of the story making it “relatable” to us and providing a different spin on how the world was created. These books aren’t standalone novels but when I finished the first book I had to buy and read the second book immediately. And please where is the third book? The author does an amazing job with cliffhangers, giving enough information, and upping any and all tension.

Ensnared is a fast-paced dragon shifter paranormal romance. It's such a fresh new take on dragon shifters and I am loving it. Maybe I should say the Blessed since that's what they call themselves instead of dragons. This concept of ensnaring is nothing I have ever read before. I've read a lot of dragon shifter books and this one was *chef's kiss.* This author loves to make you hate a character and then she flips the script and the one you hated  becomes your favorite. I don't want to give anything away but you have to read it and see what it's all about. The banter between Liz and her dragon or should I say earth blessed is the best and this is also a little bit of a fish out of water scenario with the dragons or The Blessed as they call themselves because they aren't very familiar with humans and the human world. I can't wait to read the next book because this story is just getting started.

I'm not a fan of contemporary romance and/or contemporary fantasy, and I definitely didn't think I would be into both. This however was refreshingly great! Not the typical contemporary that I think a lot of fantasy romance revolves around (complicated magic systems, iykyk). Also the cover got me hooked as Liz reminded me of Wonder Woman instantly so... duh. Liz is strong, charming, and just down to Earth in a not "not like other girls" kind of way. She's actually just simple minded and straightforward, not afraid to take charge, speak her mind, or... anything really. Not experienced in love, but not afraid of it either. Likes men, but doesn't let it be the centre of her world.

I really loved the banter. Innocent Axel asking bizarre questions in regards to modern slang was the cutest and funniest thing ever. Extra love since there isn't overtly cursing or sex scenes (yet, which I honestly prefer)!

This one is a bit odd. It's post-apocalyptic and a lot of people supposedly get killed in the whole invasion of dragons, but the tone of the book really does not reflect that. I mean the h mentions it and even berates the H for enslaving people but the vibe is just not there. It's like this weird thing where you are told the h is ensnared and kidnapped and held captive but you don't FEEL it. It's almost like she is being held by the loses of tinsels instead of chains, metaphorically speaking, and while she can't exactly break free as it is explained in the book she just doesn't have where to go as Huston is now under dragon rule and she has her siblings to take care of she still doesn't project much of a being held against her will vibe. It's hard to explain without going deep into the whole story and psychology of things, and who has the time for that?

For now, I guess it's more fun than menacing for a post-apocalyptic book and it's throwing it off because of it. But not bad.

Wow! This book was fire! I loved the character development and how Bridget continues to surprise you in her writing. I was shocked by the twists in this story and couldn’t put it down! I haven’t been able to stop thinking about what may come in book 2, since I finished reading this book.

The story tells about Dragons (The Blessed) who come to earth in search of “The Heart”. They are considered evil but one family starts to learn that they may not be as evil as they seem. I love how this book takes you on a journey of a dragon and his “Ensnared” human learning to understand each other, despite their differences.

This was a good book, and a bit stressful at the same time. The main character is caught in so many difficult situations that it makes my head spin, and I just want to find out what’s next! There is some PG 13 content, but it can still basically be called clean. No language or crude behavior, but there is some behavior and some thoughts that border on being inappropriate, and there is a lot of violence, of course… since there are destructive dragons in the story! I love the strong main character, especially since she has some faults that keep her from being too perfect, and she becomes even stronger throughout the story, and the main dragon is very intriguing!

This book is a unique spin on dragons, you’ll fall in love with the witty banter between the main characters, the slow burn enemies-to-lovers, the scorching kiss, the HUMOR, the world building, the very interesting plot. Are they villains or are they in need of something?? Okay, they can be both…they are villains who need something. But Liz isn’t going to just stand by and take it. She’s a fighter and I love her for it! If there’s anyone sassy enough to “tame” a dragon it would be her! It was such a fun book and I CANNOT WAIT for the sequel!

A little sizzle never hurt…… or does it??
If you’re into reality meets fantasy, this is your book! Bridget makes our world come to life in the fast paced fantasy. It starts out a normal day for Liz but ends in anything but. I love that Liz is strong and protects what she loves. She doesn’t need anyone but that doesn’t mean she wants to be alone either. Just read the dang thing (lol). You’ll be glad you did! I’ve been finished for days now and keep thing about it, that’s a great author and story right here!!

I do love a good fantasy read especially with dragons and this story is incredible. A fast paced, well written tale of action, adventure, drama and romance as we venture into this amazing world that the author has created for us. Our female mc is strong, kick ass and a born protector and she finds her self making a deal with the dragon shifter prince. It exciting, it’s thrilling and I found myself totally captivated and enthralled as our mc’s discover all is not as it seems. So excited for book two!

Dragons, amazing FM who is as likely to put a man in a chokehold as she is to talk to him, love triangle you aren’t expecting, end of the world as we know it… Check all the above! There is a MAJOR plot twist that is a total surprise and makes this fast-paced story all the more exciting and will leave you drooling for more. I actually reread it as soon as I finished it because the story was SO good and I wanted to read it with the knowledge of all the secrets. I’m so excited for the next installment in this series!

Ridiculously Funny!
Yes, the book starts with a war between the dragons – oops, sorry, blessed – and the American military, but as Liz is telling us the story, it quickly focusses on her meeting and being ensnared by Axel. She is stubborn, brave and sassy and he is entertained by her. Their interactions made me laugh so many times through the book, I just couldn’t put it down, I had to know how their relationship developed. Hilarious. And of course how the search for the heart was going. So glad for Kobo Plus to be able to read book 2 straight after this one. Highly recommended.

Interesting story

This is a fun book! All is normal and then earth is invaded by dragons... Yes, dragons. The dragons are looking for The Heart they left here many years ago. Śome humans are bound/ensnared to a dragon. Whether good or bad , the human does what the dragon wants. Will our heroine love or hate her dragon, her quest? This book is a great read, with an unusual plot, funny/sassy heroine, and wonderful writing. It kind of cuts off at a weird place in the book, but you know what book 2 will be about.

I rate this 4.5 stars. I enjoyed this story. Dragons have returned to earth looking for a mysterious magical item. Humans are either taken as brights, which are helpers to control the rest of the humans or glorified slaves. Elizabeth is one of the brights. She finds a dragon who gives her more leeway. Things are not as the seem and Elizabeth's relationship with her dragon prince is more complicated than expected.

This book was so good. I loved it so much. I honestly didn’t find out Axar and Axel were the same person until she did. I felt so stupid but so excited. I literally can’t wait to read the next book like I need this story so bad. I can’t believe he is so okay with mating and marrying someone else when he’s with Liz and like he just doesn’t get why it’s wrong yet let alone know that Liz loves him. Omg I’m so here for this.

It was a good read. It's a fine first book for a series, it establishes a lot of points for the creation of the atmosphere. Maybe it's a little bit too much for the heroine to be so attached to her captor at this point of the story, maybe it will be revealed like she thinks that it was part of the magic that ensnared her but it's improbable. I will certainly read the second book. Thanks to the author.

I love dragon stories. This one is entertaining. Lis is so outspoken & not afraid of the Dragon prince. She pops off & speaks her mind about anything & everything. She is not afraid to fight them either. The story is a cliffhanger so I have to get them all. I listened to the audio version through the Chirp app.

I have been on the search for a really good dragon shifter book, and I finally found it. I finished this in one day and want to start the second book now but I really need to sleep.

The ONLY thing that slightly bothered me in the book was there were a few times where it felt like Liz was just a little too laid back, but I got over it quickly haha

4.5 but the ending was just too abrupt to give it a full 5. Overall, it was a surprisingly good book that I thoroughly enjoyed. Unique plot with post-apocalyptic vibes and dragons! Very engaging and I found myself wanting to keep reading. It was a little cheesey at times but even this was surprisingly enjoyable. Definitely worth the read!

Adventuresome

Loved the strangeness. it. Until the end, which is not an ending. Second novel I've read in a row where the novel I thought was whole and was ending, was just part of an ongoing novel. I'm usually not blind sighted to a continuing novel.
It was nice but a disappointing shock.
