WHERE THE MAP ENDS, THEIR JOURNEY BEGINS. The thrilling saga continues in The Lost Cities , the third installment of the electrifying ENIGMA Files series. Rhett, Dinah, and Fabien are back on the path less traveled, their destiny intertwined with the threads of ancient civilizations and inscrutable artifacts.
This series got better with every book. I'm really sorry to see it end as I have enjoyed Rhett, Dinah, and Fabien's journey. I'd love to read about some adventures on the other Earths that they are going to visit and also the building of Alignment Solutions. Great series!!
Finished the series. While the second and third books were better, one still had to set aside disbelief that normal people like these could so easily accept everything. Otherwise while it was an okay read, I still thought the entire series seemed rather rushed. It bogged down in a few places, but then would hyper-speed through others. I think if this story had slowed down, allowed the characters to really deal with the fantastical goods in the vaults and deal with the discovery that there were alien races, and delved a little deeper into character development the series would have been a lot better.
It was a good idea, just very rushed...in my opinion
Audiobook: I was as entertained by book three as the first two books in the series. This story moved from one action packed scene to the next, and I was riveted. I enjoyed the characters and their experiences. I appreciated the humor and the creative species which populated the story. I was sad that this was the last book in the series as I will miss the characters who have become so real to me. I enjoyed Paul Heitsch's narration as his performance included different voices for the various characters. I was given a free copy of the audiobook. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which reflected my honest opinions regarding this audiobook.
Considering the penchant Dinah has for unraveling secrets of the past, it is perhaps rather apt that she got invaded by some nanobots from a relic she picked up. The things she started picking up subsequently is rather amazing. So is the journey she and the odd crew subsequently undertook leading to alternate earths, some of which is in fact ruled by the Hand of the Sun as well. Some of which have rather odd inhabitants too. Very much so. And with danger lurking everywhere. Deadly. Fascinating. Enjoy.
Even though this series was much different then the ones I’ve read before, it holds a lot of action, twists & turns and emotions. The character development was great as well. Definitely worth reading. Hopefully these characters get more stories in the future.
THE SECRET CITIES is a fantastic end (or is it?) to this trilogy! I loved it! There is adventure, self-sacrificing courage, humor, and thoughtful philosophy. What more could anyone ask for?! Disclosure: I received a free copy of this book with no strings attached.
This series just gets better with each book. I really enjoyed this one as it kept me guessing and laughing as Rhett, Dinah, and Fabien do their thing. Had to see what they must face ans survive this time. And what they might uncover too. Loved it. Just fun to read.
A pretty good wrap-up. It did go off the rails a bit, but nothing outside of the exact world building it created. I guess anything is possible with alternate dimensions…it was fun to read and good to see the character growth.
What a perfect ending to a superb book. Danger, adventure and more to keep you intrigued and wishing there was more to come. It never ends until the last page. Don’t miss out.
In this final book of the series, the destabilizer has been used a third time with the catastrophic results that, countless lives have been lost and The Hand of the Sun has taken over the control of the current Earth, thus leaving the fate of the population in the hands of Athens, its current leader who has summoned his most trusted agents to his side, including the missing Apollo.
The leaders of the movement no longer wear masks and an internal coup sees Athen killed and disposed of to be replaced by the leaders as a governing party with no longer a supreme leader at the helm.
Dinah, Fabian and Reth are transported to an alternate Earth where they will see adventures upon adventures and encounter multiple new species of inhabitants.
This reader found the last book's ending, predictable and lacking the punch that the previous books possessed and I award this last book 4 Stars.
