UNEARTHED SECRETS, UNIMAGINABLE POWER. Our intrepid heroes – Rhett, Dinah, and Fabien – are plunged once again into the world of ancient artifacts and clandestine organizations. The Sacred Stone is the electrifying second installment of The ENIGMA Files series.
This book picked up right where the last one left off. These definitely are not stand alone stories, in case anyone is wondering. Although a lot happened in this book the story is still unfinished so I'm going to move on to the third one cuz I really want to know the outcome.
In this installment, our Enigma team has learned of a possible mole in their relic warehouse organization. “The Hand of the Sun” cult is attempting to steal the ancient relics to use the powers for their own nefarious schemes. Ultimately, they plan to annihilate the Enigma organization, steal the destabilizer relic to open the seams to alternate Earths in other dimensions and conquer every civilization. How can the small number of Enigma members hope to defend their far-flung warehouses, especially if they don’t know who to trust? Rhett, Dinah and Fabian determine that they must attempt to neutralize the enemy leader. This well-written book follows the twists and turns in each individual’s exploits and kept me guessing how they could possibly succeed. I have enjoyed this series so far, and am eager to see what comes next.
Science is often regarded as the beginning and ending of all we know and live by. Yet archeology is a prime example of why our present knowledge knows far too little of the past as surprising relics and even "books" can indicate how little we know. And some of which is very dangerous indeed. Especially when some discoveries are incredibly advanced and can end life on Earth. Totally. As the Enigma discovered. For many years these discoveries have been hidden in secret fortresses over the world. Such as Reclamation, where Porter hired Rhett and Fabian and Dinah to assist with this. And protect the relics. The Hand of the Sun, though, are the egomaniacal opposite to Enigma. They want these relics for, in their hands, it means advancement of power, riches and use of technologies that will turn them into super humans. In the Sacred Stone the Hand is ready to try again to rule the roost. This time a mole on Reclamation might just turn the trick. Violently so. Author Joshua James really captures the attention with this immersive action urban fantasy and with a unique world that surprises one chapter by chapter. Enjoy
THE SACRED STONE (ENIGMA #2) is an action packed, sci-fi, archeological drama, emotional rollercoaster of a tale! There’s a good mystery (Is there a mole? Who is it?) with lots of wonderfully interesting, admirable but flawed heroes. More explanations of who’s who and what’s what in early chapters would have helped ground those of us who slept between books one and two, but overall, this is a great read! Disclosure: I received a free copy of this book with no strings attached.
Audiobook: Although the beginning was a little slow, the story picked up and became as exciting as the first one in the series. I admired the additional worldbuilding. I appreciated the divergent pathways which Rhett, Fabien, and Dinah took. I spent some time with bated breath as each character faced their challenges. I was entertained by some flashes of humor provided by the dialogue. I'm looking forward to the next book. I enjoyed Paul Heitsch's narration as his performance was entertaining. I was given a copy of the audiobook. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which reflected my honest opinions regarding this audiobook.
What a fascinating thing this story has become. The intrepid heroes, Rhett, Fabien and Dinah, attempt to stop The Right Hand of the Sun in three different locations, including on an Earth in a parallel universe. But can they really stop Apollo, Aten and Annamaria before they take over the Reclamation. Read on friends. It's so worth it. Thank you, Joshua James, for another great read. And the excerpt you provided for book three has me excited.
The team is back and so is all the fun. Lots of action, danger, surprises, and artifacts to keep me reading and enjoyed the story. Had to see what they must face and overcome this time. And what their enemies would try this time. Enjoyed the story and the banter and the adventure.
An amazing story of artifacts, secrets and heroes. This continuation definitely doesn’t disappoint. Each turn of the page makes you wonder what could possibly happen next. Will they solve the mystery. Loved it.
It is a very interesting story full of intrigue and adventure. The flow of the book is fast, with many plot twists. I really like this book and I highly recommend it.
An interesting approach to the multi-verse idea. Entertaining reading and a thought provoking series. The idea that many versions of the same can exist at the same time is expansive thinking.
Pretty good middle book. It wasn’t as great as the previous, but doesn’t leave you bored. It keeps the pace high and has enough new event that are well tied to the original events. Splitting the crew up was sad, but understood.
Enigma is an organization tasked, by its founders, with protecting and cataloguing any and all artifacts that have know as well as unknown properties, powers and applications.
This book, the second installment in the series, is also filled with action although outlining each member of the team's own special talents and expertise in achieving the ultimate goal of the story. In fact, the main characters are split, in this one, each pursuing his or her own path leading to a common outcome.
Their goal is to find Apollo, wherever he is and study the powers of the destabiliser, while protecting the relic so sought by the Hand of the Sun, destroy the Hand of the Sun, and find the mole or moles
The author, through his gift, has succeeded in grabbing the readers attention by virtually taking him or her on a virtual adventure throughout this world and a parallel World, where action, is continuous and new "gadgets ( relics)" are sought, found and used for their particular properties.
Rhett, Fabian and Dayna, with their own individual personal history, defy all odds and their personna creator succeeds in making this book a page turner that I rate 5 Stars as well as highly recommend.
