Jake has stalked her for a year, ever since she came to his office for an interview. His body reacted to her scent immediately and all he’d wanted to do since was muss up her immaculate suits and tidy hair. This woman, his mate, is so focused on her work that she barely knows that he is alive. Not only is going to make her realize that he is alive but he is going to claim her, just as soon as he can trust her with his secret and his safety. When Lauren’s car has a flat tire, the boss fixes it for her then demands payment in the way of having dinner with him. He is large, scary and way too intense for her tastes but who would have the nerve to tell him no? He follows her home and even though her body aches for him, she knows that intimacy never ends well for her. Jake promises her that she will not only enjoy it, but that he can make all of her dreams come true.
Book: Her Boss The Alpha Series: - Author: K.S. martin Category /Genre: Shifter Romance rating: 2 stars out of 5
Jake has been watching his mate (literally) for one year. He was a werewolf and didn't know if he can trust Lauren with his and his family secret. Lauren has been working for Jake for a year and she couldn't figure out why he kept on starring at her and at times he found him creepy. I cannot talk about the book without talking about the things that didn't really work for me.
The story had good premises to work: an alpha male werewolf found his mate; he needed to find a way to get close to her, get her trust and understanding prior to reveling the big secret and mate her. At the same time he must fight the villain.
I think everything lays in the delivery of the story. So many details put me off and almost made me give up reading: - one year it's a long time to stare and be starred at. A lesser time would have taken the creepy, stalker factor out of it. - a flat tyre helped bringing the main characters together but why bring a dead fiancee in the mix when dealing with mates? why mention mates when wolves can have more than one mate? I couldn't see the purpose in the whole story - the morning talk to the mother wile having his "shaft in her ho-ha" to paraphrase some authors, it was so weird and so not appealing. For real? - Jake was penned to be detached and not so caring towards his mate. He sent her home, no calls for days and when she is not to be found he believed that she left him. Really ??? - the villain and his actions were laughable. I am sure a fat blood and a healthy diet were meant to be funny but I just couldn't see the fun in it. When he was cornered he just appeared like a wimpy guy, not a 500 year old vampire.
I am not sure how to end this review. The book could have been great but a plot not really thought trough took the joy and fun out of it. I am not going back for a second book from this author because I am not sure I will enjoy a next one. I can't even recommend it because I just didn't like the story or the characters.
This story was kind of weird, and as such, it kept my interest, but I didn’t love it. The dialogue was stilted and while it involved an alpha wolf who stalked his mate, I felt the H’s alphaness wavered as the story progressed. There was also a bizarre scene. But I did find the story held my interest and I wanted to know how it ended, so 2.5 stars is the rating overall.

Her Boss The Alpha is an absolutely phenomenal book to read from the very start of the book and i was absolutely enthralled from the beginning. This was the first book I've read by K.S. Martin and wow was i blown away and I would recommend anyone to read this book.
He knew she was his but he waited to claim her. After all, humans can't be trusted. But he will walk through fire to save her. Good story but the editing could have been much better.
Ok, where to start with this one. To be totally honest I'm not a big fan o paranormal books, I mean, aside of the Twilight series I don't have much experience in the genre, so I tried to read this one with an open mind. So why I decided to read this one?... well the first two things that caught my attention were the title and the cover, yep I was like "Alpha AND Boss in the title?, PLUS a hot cover?, COUNT ME IN!"... YES, I have to admit, I'm a hot cover whore *blush*... after that I read the description and I was like "mmm paranormal?" and the I saw that it was a short read so I was like "Let's do this!"
So Jake, The Alpha, is Lauren's boss, she's been working for him for a year, she's a hard worker and basically has no life. He's a businessman AND a werewolf, and of course he wants to claim her as his. Ok being honest, I LOVE this concept of claim her, so I was enjoying the book so far. Back to the story, she feels him watching her every time, making her uncomfortable.
“What is that guy’s problem?” She muttered to herself. “Why is he always staring, leering even at me?”
She ends up stuck with him due to a situation with her car and he ask her to join him for diner as a payment for his help, and basically the dialogue between them gets pretty intense.
“Let me feed you and when we finish, if you want to, I’ll take care of your other needs.”
WHAT?! At this point I was thinking "This is going to be the fastest mating I've heard about", but again, I have not so much experience in this genre, so I reminded myself to keep and open mind.
THEN we get to the juicy part (no pun intended) the sex scenes, which are SUPER HOT!... I mean no wonder he is an Alpha, because he is plain hot and domineering.
He pushed her thighs apart and kissed the soft flesh of her inner thighs, she watched him down the length of her body, her fingers knotted in the sheet beneath her. “I want to taste you, I’ve wanted to taste you since the Moment I first saw you.” His blue eyes were intent on hers as his tongue worked slowly from the well of her vagina up to the sensitive bundle of nerves. Lauren nearly came off the bed.
The story develops and it gets interesting when Lauren is caught up in his world, given a different sense to the story, and that's all the details I'm going to share of this one, but overall it's an enjoyable, sexy reading.
I love boss/workplace romances but the idea of an accountant being measured by her keystroking speed was preposterous. I cringed at most of the other unrealistic business-y plot points too. I've been an accountant / corp exec for over 30 yrs and the closest thing I can think of that requires key stroke speed is a ten-key (adding machine), and that would be incredibly archaic in today's business world since most people use spreadsheets. Historical romance readers like factual accuracy. I'm the same way with workplace romances. Just unable to bite my tongue with this one. Sorry.
Editing and formatting in need of a hefty overhaul. Not sure if the author put her paragraph breaks in the wrong place or if the formatting messed up, but the dialogue of person A followed in the very next sentence by the actions of person B in same paragraph followed by dialogue of person B in a new paragraph made it very difficult to read at times and understand who was doing or saying what or whose point of view we were in. I've had paragraph breaks get corrupted with my ebook files however, so that really might be a formatting conversion issue. Far too many missing words also messed up the flow.
I liked Jake's intensity though and I loved the term "soldiers of rush hour". Book was engaging enough for me to read in a single afternoon.
I had some major issues with this story. To be a stalker, I thought that he would be a little more obsessed with Lauren. I also thought he would be more protective. He was neither. He wasn't very alpha male either, especially for a wolf. Then up pops a dead ex in the story line!! On their first date, he brings it up and and he's crying over her at dinner! When they finally do get together, his mom walks in and holds a conversation, while he is literally inside Lauren. It's not awkward at all to have a conversation with your mom while you are literally inside your woman. Nobody seems embarrassed. Not even Lauren. And they just finish up. After some pack mates die Jake doesn't seem to broken up about it at all. Nad when Lauren was kidnapped and drugged, why didn't the neighbor call the police? And the villain, oh the villain. He had irrational behavior. Brutal and murderous but changed his mind wcor non, reason, to spare a life. Just seemed odd.
Overall, I thought this book could've been better. I liked the idea of stalking. But the execution was poor. And the characters lack what I like with pack Alphas.
Lauren doesn't understand why Jake frequently stares at her, he is her boss but from what Lauren can tell she is one of the best workers he has. Jake knew the minute he caught sight of Lauren that she was his mate, he has been waiting a year to make a move but she always seemed unreachable. Jake gets his chance though and tries to go slowly with earning Lauren's trust, but as a shifter you have to be constantly on guard and very few know of their existence.
I liked the idea of this story, but it felt like it was missing something. Both characters are likeable and it definitely has sizzle factor, I think I would have liked t get to know each character a bit more.
I only gave this book two stars I had a hard time staying with it and finishing. I was so slow moving and I just wanted to get it done. Plot was pretty good but the story it self was boring.
I am sorry as I really like all the other books from this author that I have read.
Maybe if I read it again on the future it will be better on the second pass

I read this book after a long drive from an even longer training. Adult stuff...blah. This book helped me to relax and settle in. It had a nice and neat story with simple but strong characters. It had elements of business, family, loyalty, betrayal, romance, and some steamy (but well placed) adult scenes. There was even a bit of blood and guts. It was the perfect pick me up.
I must have missed the whole wolf story angle. When I think alpha I think dominant man (only in romance novels). This was a story about a wolf and vampires. Huh? Yeah, that was my thought. So not my cup of tea therefore it gets one star. Oh yeah there were grammatical errors.
This paranormal wolf shifter tale was good. It had a pshycotic vampire which is a little boring. He was a misogynic twit. But but to the male wolf. He was not bad but given that he spent so much time stalking this human woman he would have figured out what type of character she was already. He could have avoided so much unnecessary crap.
I found it odd at first he spends a years watching and she never knew he was boss. I never warmed up to the characters. The flow was all wrong. It was messy. I like th writing style just not content or story.
This was a really good paranormal short. I tend to not read short stories because I find them lacking in character development. However, I was pleasantly surprised by this story.
