As the military liaison between the human Shifter Bureau and Shiftertown, Walker is often stuck trying to appease both sides—and angering both. Good book. Even though it was a novella. It was deep enough that you saw the attraction and love develop between the H and h. And I'm glad I didn't miss much of their story since Tiger Magic when they first met. It seems like they picked up right back, and nothing really happened in between.

I'd give it 4.5 stars, half off for the guy on the cover. NOT the most attractive in my view, and covers matter to me. Would have been better if there were no models on the cover or only the woman - she matched what I'd imagine Rebecca would like like. Tall and buxom.

The H and h are a good match, both alphas. Both realistic people. People you can admire for their strength, protectiveness and goodness. Nothing flaky about Becks, unlike Carly from Tiger Magic. Walker was a lot more likable in this book than when he was first introduced. He's patient and kind. Protective, strong, handles himself like a pro in a world of creatures much stronger than him physically. Perfect match for Becks.

The plot moved fast enough to keep me engaged. Not sure I want to read Kendrick's book, kinda skipped over his parts. The main couple was all I cared about. I read it in one sitting.

This is the Jennifer Ashley type of book I like!

I've only read WILD WOLF & MATE BOND, two werewolf-centric books, but Jennifer Ashley's writing is undeniably addictive, and female bear protagonists are uncommon in Paranormal Romance, so this novella was an easy yes. The addition of a Shifter Bureau added another level to this series' world-building, although this organization might have made its presence known already for readers who took a more linear path to SHIFTERS UNBOUND than I. Rebecca & Walker were great characters, and the pacing of their romance was perfect for a short story. When I think 'bears' big and burly immediately comes to mind, and Ashley's most certainly can hold their own when need be; however this author also painted them in a quirky, close-knit light which was both unexpected, and charming. The plot took a few unforeseen turns that I wouldn't mind seeing further explored in future full length installments, and Walker in a cat shifter groupie get-up was hilarious! BEAR ATTRACTION is worth every penny!

Rebecca rocks! I was so happy with this book. It is so hard to find a good story with a female bear shifter. These books are so rare. Moreover, it is hard to find a story with a strong enough human male who will eventually become the female bear shifter's mate.

Female bear shifters are usually big, tall, strong, independent - not delicate little flowers. Jennifer Ashley in this story manages to make Rebecca also look sexy, funny and a good team player. Her future mate, Walker, is standing strong by her side and he completes her. Although he is just human, he does not feel intimidated by her, he gains her respect and together they find love.

Walker is a man with power. He loves being in charge. His relationship with Rebecca is about balance and power exchange. The two of them battle in words, wrestle a bit, spar a bit more and in the end they will take their arguments to the bedroom.Walker is military. He follows procedures and he gives commands and Rebecca has to follow his rules and his regulations. For her own good. Of course.

I liked the building sexual tension and I liked that the writer is showing both of the main characters'points of view. They both seem to be so cool, but they both have strong desires and emotions which are trying to hide. They are basically burning inside.

In this book, we also learn a bit more about the shifters's groupies, their behaviour and their style in order to attract shifters. And another interesting character, Kendrick, is introduced. The white tiger and guardian.

Bear shifter Rebecca is in trouble for trespassing on land own by a powerful pharmaceutical company and they want an example made of her. Lucky for her, Shifter Bureau liaison Walker is able to pull a few strings and prevent that from happening by having her assist him in finding a missing woman. Walker may come to her aid but Rebecca is no damsel in distress. She pulls her weight throughout the investigation and up against any hard headed shifter. I really like Rebecca and how her dominance comes so natural. She doesn’t need to prove her strength because you can see it in her actions and hear it in her words. I think it’s great in such a male dominated series that she can stand out.

Some men would be turned off after watching a woman transform into a Kodiak bear and then sit on you so you can’t escape. Walker on the other hands finds Rebecca’s power incredibly sexy but as a former soldier, he’s unsure of how to go about wooing a woman like her. As with Rebecca, Walker doesn’t get lost among the imposing male shifters. He’s earned his place among the shifters but it’s at the side of Rebecca that he really wants to be and I think that makes him awesome.

The romance isn’t as intense as with other couples in this series. It’s more along the lines of sweet and though there’s little sex, it’s still really sensual to watch the mating dance between Rebecca and Walker. A little more passion and less thinking and actual doing would be nice but I’m not disappointed with how their relationship unfolded.

Walker and Rebecca are looking for Joanne’s missing sister, the one that brought Joanne into the Austin shifter town and under Broderick’s protection. Their investigation is predictable up until the end when a new shifter is introduced. Not really sure how he’ll play into future books but I’m definitely interested in finding out. Also, Dylan makes his presences felt in this book and I got to say, he is only getting better. I like seeing the reactions others have to hearing his name and learning how far his power reaches. Overall, it was great to come back to the Austin shifters I love so much. This novella doesn’t pack quite as much story or delve that far into the character’s pasts as previous ones but still manages to entertain and make me happy.

Oh Ashley does know how to make a para loving girl smitten! Bear Attraction was the perfect shiftery treat complete with bears, sexy humans, mystery and a wee bit of danger as Walker and Rebecca are forced to team up to find a missing human woman. And...it just made me happeh. :D

Walker--Nummy nummy! He's laid back total confidence. Sexy, dominant (even though a mere human surrounded by all kinds of shfters) and doesn't get ruffled even when danger is breathing down his neck. I was all on board with Walker. *nods*

Rebecca--Is a total badass. She's a Kodiak Bear and yeah. She's rocking some fierce and isn't afraid to throw her weight around. I liked her quite a bit. I love the bears for some reason. They're just so big and whoa! and it was fun having one the focus (and getting to see her bear 'family')

The heat/romance--Was light but it fit these two. They've known each other for a while and totally make each other grr-arg (but it was fun). There's teasing and a little poking at each other. They worked great together though and were a lot of fun. Not too much heat overall though. There's some hot kissin' and a very small bit of lovin' but it was way tame. Still enjoyed them though.

Her eyes flickered, and Walker knew he was right. "Shifters can form the mate bond with humans," Rebecca said, as though determined to argue with him, no matter what. "Look at Liam and Kim, Ronan and Elizabeth. Hell, Tiger and Carly. And Tiger's halfway to insane."

"A human woman is probably what Tiger needs then," Walker said. "Then again, sweet little Carly wrapped me in duct tape and let Tiger dump me into the trunk of her car."

Rebecca's angry look softened.

"Yeah, I like Carly." A smile pulled at her mouth.

Cubs!! I love cubs. They're like...my favoritest thing...ever! I don't care if some are really in their 20s in human years. I still love em. And there were cubs of all kinds in this one and damn it made me happy. I just want to squish them. Hard.

The mystery--Was pretty action packed and fun to follow along as they tried to track down the missing human. Dealing with difficult shifters, some surprise twists, shifter groupies.

All in all, Bear Attraction was a beary good time. Heh. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. That was so so bad but I just couldn't help myself! ::snort:: You really can't go wrong with Ashley's shifters. They're just awesomely awesome and full of all kinds of sexy shifters, romance and chuckleworthy humor. Oh and this one left off with some interesting potential for future storylines.. Yay for us!

Bear Attraction totally worked for me even as a novella. While it helped that the leading pair Kodiak bear shifter Rebecca and human Shifter Bureau agent Walker had a bit of history in the previous books, they are both such great characters and all the bits of things that make me a fan of the series pull together in such a satisfying way that the physical aspect of their relationship is just the cherry on top of the story.

It is always fun to see past players make cameo appearances and Ashley also adds a new element to the story in something that is uncovered during Walker and Rebecca's search for the missing shifter groupie sister to the human who is a friend to growly wolf shifter Roddick. This element and the early reviews for the next novel in the series has me hoping that Ashley will be able to keep this series going for a long time.

I really enjoy this series, who doesn’t love a good shifter story? This is novella length book about Walker Danielson (Human, military liaison between the human Shifter Bureau and Shiftertown) and Rebecca (an alpha bear-shifter). Both the characters have been previously part of the other books in the series as secondary characters. Though it’s a novella we get to see their relationship develop and learn more about them as characters. I really liked them both, they were both head strong if a little stubborn at times but they respected and cared about each other . They also had great chemistry and really enjoyed teasing/annoying each other. I think it’s pretty difficult to write the story between a female who is an alpha and a shifter and the male is human and do both characters justice. Ms. Ashley did a good job on that front without making their relationship look unbalanced and the characters, jerks. The book also introduced a newer plotline to the series which I’m forward to read more about.

I think the book can work as a standalone but we do some of their earlier interactions in the other books which made me look forward to this book. It may not be my personal favourite novella in the series but it was a good edition to the series. Happy Reading!

Okay, I admit, I was ready to dismiss this novella – especially when in the beginning, Walker and Rebecca seemed to be falling into the ‘lust’ aspect of paranormal romance rather than a slow and steady progress of ‘romance’. Don’t get me wrong, I think this series is entertaining –might not be part of my favorite paranormal/urban fantasy series list that I can rattle off top of my head but I have my fun. But, almost all of the novellas from this series for me were just okay. They are like crunchy popcorn – filled with instant everything, sexy scenes, and then it is over.

So when Rebecca is described as noticing how good Walker’s physical traits are (especially since she is mate-less and Walker triggers her mating need) or Walker reacting to Rebecca’s allure, I thought this would be another one of those instant-love things. It didn’t help that I actually couldn’t remember these two very well from the novels. I was forced to check when Rebecca and Walker first appeared in the series!

I am so happy to be proven wrong... because this one was really good and probably my favorite Shifters Unbound novella so far! Rebecca and Walker sizzle on the pages, there is chemistry between them and an actual progression of their attraction. There are no immediate writhing bodies, rolling on the bed/floor/grass/forest at all!

What I loved about Rebecca and Walker was that they were pretty much on equal ground. Yes, Rebecca is a Kodiak bear, even among other shifters she is pretty much an Alpha. Walker is just a human male but a well-trained military one; he knows his tricks to deal with dominant shifters, including bears. Having said that, Walker also knows how to step back when needed and lets Rebecca (or other shifters) take charge. He’s such a level headed and reasonable hero. I found that a very refreshing turnabout, compared to other warm-blooded aggressive heroes in this series so far (except for Tiger, maybe).

It was fun to read how these two worked side by side to find the missing girl. When danger threatens them, they don’t pull the “Alpha” card against each other (Rebecca because she is an actual Alpha or Walker because he is the man). They respect and trust each other – I could see them as partners and not just mere lovers. And I really liked that.

In addition, Ms. Ashley introduced a new development regarding a group of shifters here, which I thought was really interesting. I can’t wait to see how this twist will be played out in the overall arc. I wonder if we will get an update on this in the next novel, Mate Bond, coming in April.

I really enjoyed this installment in the Shifters Unbound series. Rebecca is a strong alpha female that is still likeable while Walker is an alpha human without being too domineering. They made the perfect couple. It took a long time to finally ‘get together’ because of everything going on around them but it was worth the wait. I liked the angle and intrigue as it kept you wanting to know what happens next while letting everyone’s personality shine through. A great mix of characters and a smoldering romance. A fun quick read.

Rebecca and Walker are an interesting pair. I liked how from the start both were smitten with the other, but not quite sure what to do about it. I liked that Walker used his position to get closer to Rebecca and force her to spend time with him. You knew that even as she complained about it she loved it too. I liked how Walker interacted with the other Bears and Shifters around town. I'm not sure what to think about what the two of them discovered, especially once Dylan stuck his nose in. All I know for sure is that things are about to get very interesting in Shiftertown.

I really enjoyed this novella. I was expecting a story that fit wthin the parameters of the 'formula' of this series; but was pleasantly surprised to discover a ss that introduced a whole new plotline thread to the series.

As much as I enjoyed Bec and Walker, I'm really looking forward to reading more about the rogue shifter/guardian Kendrick. The series is taking another step forward in the possibilities of getting the shifter collars off..and maybe he end of the shifter towns someday...

There were sparks flying between these two long before this one came to pass. The chemistry just became a bit richer and more intense. Walker and Rebecca had that something more. We see much more of the dilemma with the shifters and their collars. This adds another layer to it all.

Walker and Rebecca makes a strong couple, even though Walker is human and Rebecca a Kodiak Bear. You definitely don't want to come between a female Kodiak and her mate!!!

REVIEW: 4 stars--BEAR ATTRACTION is the latest novella in Jennifer Ashley’s contemporary, adult Shifters Unbound paranormal, romance series focusing on the shifters from Shiftertown USA. This is human Shifter Bureau liaison Walker Danielson and Kodiak bear shifter Rebecca. BEAR ATTRACTION can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. As per Jennifer’s style of writing, many of the previous storyline characters and couples play a secondary and supporting role. Any important background information is revealed when necessary.

SOME BACKGROUND: Approximately twenty years earlier shifters were exposed to the human population. Out of fear, discrimination and specieism, the shifters were collared in the belief that it would control aggression then forced into segregated communities known as Shiftertowns. There are several Shiftertowns located throughout the world where shifters live in a relative but strained peace amongst their own kind. But once in awhile, a shifter crosses into human territory and the resulting upheaval is handled by the government’s Shifter Bureau. Not all shifters were caught under the Shiftertown ordinance; some remain free and un-collared, while others go rogue and feral.

Told from third person point of view, BEAR ATTRACTION finds Walker and Rebecca working together on an assignment. Technically, Rebecca is under Walker’s custody because she trespassed onto human-owned land and the Shifter Bureau frowns on any shifters leaving their assigned territory. As part of Rebecca’s punishment, she must aid Walker in the search for a missing human female known to frequent shifter bars posing as a shifter groupie. What ensues is a foray into shifter nightlife where our couple finds more trouble at every stop. Even amongst shifters there is discrimination against different kinds.

There is a prior history between Rebecca and Walker; an attraction that finds our couple secretly desiring one another but a desire that has never been acted upon. Throughout the storyline, their attraction builds; there is an overriding need to protect; and the mate bond growing stronger. The $ex scenes are limited but the sexual tension is high-so great that the other shifters sense the mate bond before Rebecca and Walker admit it to themselves.

The secondary roles include many of the previous storyline characters including some of the younger cubs and children. We get an up close look into the shifter’s personal lives, their loves and their families; as well as the introduction to several new characters and the possibility of a shifter breed not previously known to exist.

The world building continues on the theme of discrimination and prejudice against a species because of their differences. Fear is rampant within the human population, perpetuated by the Shifter Bureau whose aim is to control with intimidation and collars.

BEAR ATTRACTION is a fast paced story with a little bit of suspense, mystery, romance, fun and $ex. Jennifer Ashley’s wonderful and passionate family of shifters are a tight knit community where shifters of all species have been welcomed into the town but there is no denying that safety is a matter of degrees. BEAR ATTRACTION is a welcome addition to the Shifters Unbound series and a go-to read every time.

Bear Attraction is a novella in the Shifters Unbound series and tells the story of Rebecca and Walker. While Rebecca wasn’t a character whose story I was especially looking forward to, Walker was definitely someone who sparked my interest the moment he walked onto the page. I think this author’s gift lies in how she draws readers in and surprises them over and over by how invested they eventually become in the characters and couples who may not have been on the top of their romance want lists.

Apparently Rebecca and Walker have been harboring an attraction for each other since their first meeting. I believe that ended up with Walker being tied up and sat on by Rebecca’s Kodiak Bear. Each are strong and very talented fighters, Rebecca is the alpha female of the Bear clan of the Austin Shiftertown and Walker is the new liaison from the Shifter Bureau. They clash again when Rebecca gets caught by some hunters in a restricted area. Walker makes a deal to get her out of trouble, she only has to help him with a missing persons case. This leads them to finding a group of unknown, uncollared shifters and finally succumbing to their attraction.

As with any Jennifer Ashley book, even the novellas, the romance between these characters drew me in and keep me turning the page right up until the end. I especially enjoyed Rebecca’s dominance and Walker’s appreciation for her strength and intelligence. Neither have ever had a serious relationship and this causes them to dance around their attraction. For such a short word count, Ms. Ashley really did a wonderful job of creating sexual tension, then allowing these two to come together naturally until by the time they became a couple I was wholeheartedly team Rebecca/Walker. They make an interesting discovery toward the end and I’m excited to find out the impact it will have on the shifter communities as this series moves forward.

The Shifters Unbound series remains one of my favorites in the paranormal romance genre. I’m always excited when I open a new book in this series and am in fact, off to read Mate Bond. The teaser at the end of Bear Attraction more than pricked my interest and I can’t wait to get to know Bowman and Kenzie better. Final Grade- B

Favorite Quote:

The October night was growing chilly, but Walker in shirtsleeves was fine. With Rebecca by his side, he’d never be cold.

~ 4 Bear Attraction Stars ~

Ashley knows how to make a great paranormal romance. Bear Attraction comes complete with bears, sexy shifters and humans, mystery, and bit of danger. We get to meet some old and new shifters and learn a little more about the world these shifters live in. This novella can be read out of order, but I recommend reading in order.

Rebecca, a Kodiak bear shifter and Walker, a human working for the Shifter Bureau end up having to team up to solve a missing persons case.

I enjoyed Rebecca. She is no damsel in distress and pulls her own weight even against other shifters. Walker a former soldier, comes to her aid, but he understands her dominate nature and does not shy away from it. I like that he does not hold her back and that these two can work together. The relationship; well these two have been dancing around their attraction for each other for quite some time. Even in this novella it takes most of the book for them to finally give in to their feelings. The romance is sweet, not as intense as other couples in the series, but still a great mating dance with little sex.

The investigation for the most part is predictable until the end when we are introduced to a new shifter. The author does leave us hanging on what happens with this new shifter, so I’m a little curious to see where this storyline is going. Dylan shows up and we get to see how far his reach is, even though he is no longer the leader of the Austin shifters, he still has a big influence. Broderick also makes an appearance since he is protecting Joanne who’s sister is the one missing.

Overall, I had a great time return to the Austin shifters. This novella is a nice fun quick read and I look forward to more installments in the Shifters Unbound series. It’s a great mix of characters and romance.

Well Walker is one sexy hero, that's for sure!

For a human male to be the hero in a shifter romance, I think I expected him to be uber strong, and super alpha. Yet Jennifer Ashely showed me why she’s the master.

Walker is the best hero. He’s the liaison between humans and shifters, so he’s met Rebecca, a Kodiak bear shifter, before. In fact the first time they met, she shifted to bear and sat on him to keep him out of the way (Tiger’s book, I believe- Tiger Magic). She’s about the same height as he is, and she’s used to being in charge. Walker, instead of proving himself stronger, knows she’d balk if he tried to be like that. So he’s patient, laid-back, and self-possessed. I loved him. He understands Rebecca.

There’s a small matter of a human shifter groupie who’s gone missing. No one has heard from her for months, and the cops are sort of shrugging it off as if since she’s a groupie, it’s her own fault. Well Walker has been tasked with finding her. Otherwise Shifters will be blamed for her disappearance.

They go undercover together at some of the shifter bars, and Walker goes in as the shifter groupie. Can I say that Walker in kitty ears and guyliner has got to be the hottest thing I’ve read this year! *fans self* Following a trail that’s been cold for months isn’t easy. Especially not with their attraction to each other getting in the way. But what they find isn’t what they’d thought at all. And the revelation at the end will impact shifters everywhere.

With Walker taking charge and stepping in, Rebecca realizes she wants him more and more, and it isn’t just lust. She really appreciates him, and as with all Jennifer Ashley stories, the romance is natural and well-done. You believe in them as a couple, and you see how as individuals they are strong, but as a couple, they are stronger.

Jennifer Ashley excels at writing romance, and this story is no different.

Thoughts: Bear Attraction features the long awaited story of Rebecca, the bear shifter that has been a continuing character in Ashley’s Shifter’s Unbound series, and one that I know I have been waiting to see get her own story. For some reason, the characters I most want to get their own book always seem to wind up in a novella…LOL….which of course tells you that this story is much shorter than usual. The anticipation didn’t quite live up to the hype with this one, since the balance of character likeability suffered a little in this book – at least for me. Walker was such a strong character – I mean, he had to be to go toe to toe with shifters. The character of Rebecca, on the other hand, suffered a bit in comparison – she would up coming across as selfish, thoughtless, and almost childishly rebellious – particularly in the first half of the book. I found her a bit annoying at the beginning to be honest.

Regardless – I am a fan of this series, and I have been from the very first book. That’s not going to change now, particularly over something so small. I love this world, and these characters and this book was still a great addition. Getting to know Walker so much better was reason alone to pick this one up! Not to mention the series of events at the end that may prove pertinent to future events…..we shall see…..

Walker and Rebecca know each other, but have withstood from seeing where their sexual tension led them. Fates seem to be against them when he's the one arresting her for trespassing. His compromise for her not getting arrested? Them spending time together, close time together, to help solve a case. Which only serves to ramp up the sexual tension.

Rebecca is a bear shifter who has always been used to being independent. She doesn't let herself be easily cowed to anyone else. And with Walker being a human, she's tried to put away her feelings as best she can. The case they work on together has them taking risks and putting themselves into somewhat dicey situations, but it also has its benefits. Maybe feelings will finally come out as they've been close to doing for awhile now.

Even though this was a shorter book, around 170 pages, I still felt like something was missing. There was an element I kept waiting for, but never got. The story wasn't rushed or lacking due to the length, but I felt like the connection between characters wasn't fleshed out as it could have been. It didn't keep me captivated or quickly turning the pages, and I so desperately wanted that with their story. With that aside, I am still looking forward to the next installment.

I was excited to see Walker as the hero for this novella. We've seen him in previous books and he's really proven that he is fair when it comes to Shifters. He still works for the Shifter Bureau but is much more neutral. Even after being held hostage at the bear's house near the beginning of the series. This was when Rebecca and Walker first met, and she started right out throwing her weight around with him. She's rebellious and when Walker catches her running on protected land, she has hard time keeping herself from being executed. She doesn't seem to have the respect for Walker's authority. She'd rather rattle his senses than admit she was doing wrong. Having the two work together on a case was fun. I really like this couple together. I enjoy Rebecca's stubborn attitude as it stems some fun interactions between her and Walker.

It was surprising to me that such a big revelation happens at the end of Bear Attraction where it is a novella and normally the bigger events are saved for the full length novels. I'm glad this one was in audio so I didn't miss anything! This is a whole new can of worms that has been opened with a lot of new players. And Dylan. Just how is he involved and what is he up to?

Again, I'm so glad this was in audio. I tend to skip novellas in my audio binges when they are not in audio as well. I think this would have been a bad one for me to miss. A lot happens and Walker and Rebecca get together. Let's see how Walker gets along living with a house full of bears!

Bear shifter Rebecca and human military liaison Walker were introduced to each other in an unconventional way, he was trussed up on the floor and she had to tackle him. First impressions stay, so when law enforcement needs help with Rebecca, Walker steps up, he keeps her out of jail and in his company.
The feelings that started from the first time soon become hotter and hotter..
Quick read, smutty fluff, shifters and action in a great combo. Love this series!

3.5 Stars. I liked Walker and Rebecca as a couple, just wasn't as intense as some of the other stories. A lot of intriguing characters for other books possibly coming up. I can't wait to find out more about Kendrick and what that whole situation is about.

I love Ashley's shifters, and I loved this story about a strong female shifter and her strong human mate.

Walker and Rebecca

We felt the heat between these two when they first met. Rebecca was tasked with guarding the Shifter Bureau agent, Walker Danielson, in an earlier book. Their playful banter and oneupmanship was endearing at that time and equally so in this offering.

A nice addition to the Shifters Unbound world.

Another Winning Shifters Novella

"She was a tall, sexy-as-hell Shifter woman who turned into a bear -- not your usual girl next door."

THE STORY: Rebecca is a bear shifter who lives in Shiftertown. Shifters are treated as second class citizens where they are collared and subjected to laws to restrict their movements and behavior. One night Rebecca is apprehended when she is taking a run and ends up going through a restricted area. She is taken into custody by Major Walker Danielson. Walker is the liaison between the Shifter Bureau (which is in charge of Shifters) and Shiftertown. Walker has grown to understand Shifters and especially Rebecca. In order to save her life, Walker has gotten the agreement that Rebecca will be released into his custody in order to help him find a missing woman who is believed to have been abducted by shifters.

OPINION: Readers join this romance already in progress. Rebecca and Walker have already met and although they had a confrontational first impression, they were also attracted to one another. Months have passed and although the two have flirted with one another, neither has made a move. The novella is about how they finally get together. This novella also solves a mystery from prior novels about the disappearance of the woman. Ashley has a complex story structure in this series. Mysteries and challenges are developed and solved over time and various novels and novellas rewarding the long time reader while keeping each book pretty self contained. Rebecca and Walker are a more straightforward couple than might have been expected and Ashley makes the decision to make the drama about the mystery rather than the romance. It is clear from almost the start that Rebecca and Walker are meant to be together and just need that final push to get them there. I like the story and the characters and was glad to see old friends again.

WORTH MENTIONING: There is a new group of shifters introduced in this novella.

FINAL DECISION: A good balance between action, story and character and romance, BEAR ATTRACTION is a fun read. Not as emotional as some of the shifter books, this one is more action adventure with a good dash of romance.

CONNECTED BOOKS: BEAR ATTRACTION is number 6.5 in the Shifters Unbound series. The story, however, builds upon previous books where Walker and Rebecca already had encountered one another. A new reader can start here and be satisfied although it is better experienced after reading the other books in the series.

STAR RATING: I give this novella 4.25 stars.

The story of Walker, a human working for the Shifter Bureau, and Rebecca, the Kodiak shifter that he has to collaborate with on his latest case.

Sparks started flying from the moment those two first met, but both of them resisted the pull between them for their own reasons. This case they have to solve however, forces them to work in close proximity, that seriously tests their resolve.

The overall arc of the series continues, with .

An engaging story with a couple that respect each other's power and are not intimidated by it, making their connection stronger for it.

The series continues with Mate Bond.

Title: Bear Attraction
Author: Jennifer Ashley
Series: Shifters Unbound, #6.5
Publisher: Intermix
Date: February 17, 2015

This book was supplied to me through NetGalley for an honest review.

Rating: 3.5 out of 5

This is a great series, although it is darker than some shifter books I read. Shifters are treated as second class citizens and required to wear shock collars to keep their “animal” instincts under control. The human Shifter Bureau is responsible for ensuring that all shifters stay under human control and obey the laws set out for them by humans.

Walker is the human liaison between the Bureau and Shiftertown and because of that none of the shifters trust him. So, of course, Rebecca runs afoul of the Bureau and Rebecca becomes Walker’s responsibility.

Oh yeah, and she also starts to feel the mating instinct with Walker.

This book was a good addition to the Shifters Unbound series. It is definitely an in between book, but still adds to the overall storyline. We get to revisit some of the characters from previous books as well as get hints about future relationships.

The only thing I had a problem with (and this is a personal issue, nothing against the story) is the fact that Rebecca is so much more powerful than Walker. This is only to be expected since she is a bear shifter, but I still had a problem adjusting to that aspect of the story. The author handles the issue by making Walker the more dominant personality.

As I said before, this is an in between book. I don’t recommend reading it as a stand alone, but I highly recommend the entire series. Book seven, Mate Bond, is due out on April 7th, 2015, so you won’t have long to wait.
In other words, you better get reading!
