Falk has managed to obtain the second of the five swords he'll need to complete the Goddess' task, and now his path is taking him to the lands of the Elves. Time is limited, but before starting a new quest, it might be nice to wrap up his business in Arkem. Which will mean using the Mechanisms of the Ancients to defend the Gremlins' city from an attack by an army of Demons.

That's all in the game, though - in the real world, meanwhile, Andrew's met his first "colleague," another person whose in-game powers have transferred over to the real world.

Who is he? A friend, or an enemy? And how much progress has he made in completing his divine quest?

Ein weiterer spannender Band in dieser sehr gut lesbaren Reihe! Wie üblich werden sowohl bestehende Handlungsstränge vorangetrieben und die ein oder andere Frage beantwortet, als auch neue Quests gestartet und fragen aufgeworfen. Neben den sich überschlagenden Ereignissen im Spiel haben wir hier auch wieder einige Handlung in der echten Welt, aber diese ist weniger langatmig als noch im zweiten Band und ich habe mir nicht mehr dauernd gewünscht, ins Spiel zurückzukehren. Gleichzeitig verweben sich die Handlung in Arkantien und in der echten Welt immer mehr, so dass es teilweise kaum noch einen Unterschied zu geben scheint.

Allerdings hatte ich hier auch zum ersten Mal den Eindruck, dass der Autor vielleicht ein paar Bälle zu viel in der Luft hat und ihm hier und da einer entgleitet - so stellt sich unser Hauptcharakter Fragen über Dinge, die schon vor mehreren Bänden erklärt wurden. Hoffentlich übernimmt er sich nicht, denn aktuell weiß ich nicht so recht, wie all die Stränge am Ende noch zusammenlaufen sollen.

Tree of Fear is Definitely a nice continuation of the series. He's not really much of a loner in this one, but the story flows well all the same. Will be interesting to see where future books in the series go. If you liked the previous books in the series, no reason to stop now, this is a very good addition to the series.

KU Review

Definitely an exciting entry in the series. Worlds are starting to blend more and RL seemed to be the focus inn this one. Still baffled as to what’s actually going on in the merger and why.

Wow - what an intense cliffhanger, just like the last book.

Great story line that is an amazing read I could not put down.

Very good one sitting read

I enjoyed reading this book very much and I recommend this book to anyone who likes LitRPG and progression type of books with lots of action.
