It is February 2033 and Earth forces have their full attention on the Bering Strait. If Bzadian forces mange to cross the icy wastelands and enter the Americas, then the planet will be lost. On Little Diomede Island, the control centre for the Bering Strait, something is not right. An agent and two Seal teams have vanished. Recon Team Angel, although officially shut down, is secreted into the frozen landscape to investigate. What they find is more than chilling and has catastrophic implications for the survival of the human race. Who will win the Ice War?
I thought this book was entertaining and fun to read but I do have some problems. For example the weird Mayan Alien subplot introduced in the second book didn’t go anywhere and feels poorly executed. The new characters introduced in the beginning felt pointless as they died off and we had no attachment to them. Some part they could’ve explored more was the part with Chisnall under alien captivity.
One the the book did do well is give a lot of details about technology which was very interesting. It was also packed with action and was very entertaining.

A nice ending (kind of) to a nice trilogy. Very well done. A small cliff-hanger that a good book should end with. Ticked all the right boxes for me anyway.
I’m not sure why everyone rating this one star say “it’s too hard to follow.” It isn’t.
Every RTA book follows a military plot. The Assault had Uluru, Magnum had Brisbane/St. Helene’s/Lockwood/Wivenhoe (if anything, THAT was hard to follow. I had to draw the battle plans and look at satellite images, but it was fun.) This has the Bering Strait and a small spy side plot. The only thing that’s different here is that it switches POVs (because of the finale of Magnum), but this is rare and not confusing at all.
Honestly, this plot was so cool. The Pentagon plot was insanely interesting, entertaining, and quick. The rest of the plot is just as fast-moving and entertaining.
The expansion on the characters is just AHHHHH. Because the first to books are solely from Chisnall’s POV, the expansion on Price, Monster, etc is so refreshing. There’s so many more character moments and arcs here it’s insane, as well as a LOT of groundwork for the series finale, Revenge.
Finally, if you got hung up on the final chapter of Magnum, you HAVE TO READ THIS BOOK!! (And the last one, too). It explains everything :)
I think the book is really interesting and has a good plot. I would recommend the book to anyone over the age of 10 to read it if they like action, war times, sci fi and a little bit of romance in the story. The book tells us that we can do anything we set our mind to do without giving up.
I decided to read this book because it was recommended by my brother. I really liked where it is set because Brian Falkner described the terrain really well. My favorite quote would be when price says "don't go all chuck norris on me." because he is one of my favorite characters. he can be really funny. I realized some people go through lots of things to make the world a better place.

I won't be recording my thoughts (if I choose to) here until after the AA are over.
As with all the books in this well-written series, the author does not fall into the trap of making war look like some heroic exercise in patriotism.
With characters drawn from across the globe, the teenagers (chosen for combat because they are all small enough to go undercover and infiltrate enemy lines) are faced with some horrifying decisions and consequences.
