More like a todo list instead of the explanation book about quality. Too much unnecessary detail and very confusing at time.

This book was recommended to me and I was going to have the opportunity to hear Joseph DeFeo speak in a few weeks, but the date conflicts with an important family event. I thoroughly enjoyed reading about leadership and business principles set in place by “the father of modern-day quality management” and his successor of the Juran Institute. The book outlined theory and practices of sound business management, quality control, and leadership. I learned about the Pareto Principle, Juran Trilogy, the value of using Six Sigma Principles, and the six c’s of the business environment (pg. 211) Yes, the focus of the book was on the business environment but all the methods are applicable to educational leadership and any industry. I particularly related to “The Project Concept” with documented means of nominating, selecting, and team organization for projects. Yes, I learned many new terms that will be in my vocabulary like Six Sigma, Black Belt facilitators, BPM (Business Process Management) and the U.S. Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. Off to order another book by the authors, “Juran’s Quality Handbook, The Complete Guide to Performance Excellence.”
