Well Spring #3

Spirit Bridge

Rate this book
The warriors riding have battled in astounding supernatural realms. Set captives free. And awakened thousands of hearts. But now their only chance of survival depends on calling forth the spirit bridge.

Reece, Dana, Brandon, and Marcus have achieved staggering success in spiritual realms . . . but each is reeling from recent vicious attacks. They need rest. A break from the war.

But the warlord Zennon is raging and will give them no quarter. The demon holds what he believes is a trump card—a hidden strategy set in motion before the Warriors Riding even began—that will detonate the team from the inside out. And he’s just set it loose.

The street-magician Simon—finally free of Zennon’s alternate-reality prison—is racing to remember his past before his ignorance obliterates his destiny. Then there’s Miyo, a brash young warrior with advanced knowledge of spiritual realities and supernatural armor even Reece doesn’t know about. They will be pivotal in the final war against the Warriors Riding.

If only the Warriors knew which side Simon and Miyo are truly on.

Spirit Bridge is the epic conclusion to acclaimed author James L. Rubart’s Well Spring series, which will propel each of the Warriors Riding on a quest of true identity, ultimate freedom, and a final battle that will leave them changed forever.

James Rubart instantly became one of my favorite authors when I read his first book, Rooms. It is a fiction book I think all Christians should read, and is a book that can be life-changing. It is that good.

He went on to impress me with his next couple of novels, then he did something new for him: he did a trilogy. His other books were stand alone novels, and I admit I was a bit skeptical, but I was wrong. Wow, what a ride. This has been a fantastic series that has really made me think about spiritual warfare and how much the devil does fight us.

I have been eagerly waiting for this, the third and last book in the Well Spring Series, and it was definitely worth the wait. All of the group is back, and they are back at the special kind of spiritual warfare they have been so proficient at, but this time something creeps in and lulls most of them, even the wisest and most experienced among them.

The ways the characters in the book are fought are ways we can be fought, and though the book was enjoyable, it was also a sobering reminder of how careful we must be.

The idea of physically going into someone's soul and fighting is obviously fictional - very fictional, but it was a very neat way to show the reality of a spiritual world that is set on destroying us, and that spiritual warfare is very real.

This may be the best book of the trilogy. There was more at stake than in the other books, it had a very climatic battle that had me turning the pages as fast as I could, and a great ending that left me satisfied, yet wanting more. Not everything was tied up in a neat bow, but some things were resolved.

I definitely recommend the series, but they must be read in order, or you'll have no clue what is going on.

Great ending 👏👏

Favorite quote:

"There are no works we can do to please God because we have already pleased him through is Son, Jesus the Christ. He is love. And love is patient. And kind. Believes all things. Endures all things. The word disappointed is not in that last. The word inadequate is not there. The words not enough are not in there. You are his beloved. Now receive his healing."

*I received this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review*

Again, I read another book without reading it’s predecessors. It was well worth it, I must say. The battle between good and evil has never been better. I found it hard to put down at times, it’s just that good. I have to buy the first two books soon, to read and add to my favorites shelf.

I’m not sure what I thought was going to be in this book, other than alternate realities and demons, etc… There are a multitudes of things going on, but it’s not hard to keep up. Being as the third book, the world building is pretty much set. And the characters are all well developed, so that was a plus for starting out.

I immediately disliked Brandon. He was whiny, and yes sarcasm can be a good characteristic to have, but he had too much. But, as I got deeper into the story, I found myself liking him more than any of the other characters. He had a right to be feeling all those emotions that he carried around, seeing as he lost the one thing that brought out the best in him. Aside from Marcus, he was my favorite.

The Warriors Riding don’t know if they can trust Simon and Miyo. This is the battle of all battles and they have to be prepared and on the ready. As always, with evil, there will always be someone that wants to be the one doing the bidding. It was no surprise that Zennon and Caustin were at each other’s throats. If it was up to Caustin, Zennon would be dead for failing in ending the Warriors Riding and letting Simon go. Power hungry beings never win.

This is a great book that mixes Christian Fiction and Fantasy together quite well. Definitely recommend for Fantasy/Paranormal lovers alike.

The conclusion of the Well Spring series is full of action and conflict. Although the novels deal with spiritually challenging concepts, Rubart makes them understandable and accessible. However, some of these concepts don’t seem to match up with the Bible, and the lack of scriptural references makes the book a bit less credible. Overall a very exciting and fitting end to a thrilling saga.
The battle with Zennon has come to a head, and the Warriors Riding must overcome their insecurities and tune into God more than ever before if they are going to defeat the evil powers. Yet doubt and feelings of inadequacy creep in, and even those who seem the strongest may be vulnerable. Can the group learn to rely on the leading of the Spirit and trust that the prophecies are correct? Or will they give in to human nature?

Spirit Bridge is the exciting conclusion of the Well Spring Trilogy. I have grown to love the characters in this series, and honestly I'm going to miss them. This is a great series that dives into Spiritual warfare in a way that you don't see coming. It is deep, well throughout, and will keep you reading. I have found it hard to put these books down. They are amazing and I hope that you'll enjoy them as much as I did.

"The most potent attack of the enemy will always come against our identity. He does not want us to know who we are. He does not want us to know our talent, our true heart’s desire, our destiny, our path. For if we know these things and live out of them with passion, we become extremely dangerous to him. If we live in our true, free, Spirit-infused identity, he will do everything possible to thwart our realization of that knowledge."

What a life changing book!

Save yourself money on counseling and read this book instead. I could feel God doing a deep work in my heart as I read it. Seriously. I can't even put it into words, but I know I was changed as I lived through this adventure with the warriors riding.

You know you've reached a great series, when you actually take part of the novel with you in your own dreams. This is just the case with James L. Rubart's latest novel in the Well Springs Series, Spirit Bridge. This concludes the journey of the group known as the Warrior's Riding, comprised of Dana Raine, Marcus Amber, Brandon Scott, Reese Roth. Each of them have had a role to play in venturing forth in the spiritual realm to do battle with the coming evil lead by a demon called Zennon. Through each of the subsequent novels these four have had to fulfill the ancient prophecy that foretold of this battle and how each of them would be instrumental in helping to achieve success. Until that time, they have been growing in strength and wisdom guided by the Spirit of God and practicing their skills in the spiritual realm. Often times they have been called to help find healing through visiting another's soul and discovering what deep dark secret lies buried beneath that is preventing them from being all they can be.

Now as they prepare for the final battle against Zennon and his demons who will hold nothing battle in their attempt to destroy the Warrior's Riding and their mission to help others know God through their ministry. This time, they feel they have the upper hand due in part to a secret weapon that will be unleashed in the midst without them knowing about it and will begin to destroy them from the inside out, much like the Trojan Horse did to Greece. Now all they have to do is be patient and wait for the signs that the warfare has been released and then they will take over the lives of the Warriors as well as those they had hoped to save.

I received Spirit Bridge by James L. Rubart compliments of Thomas Nelson Publishers for my honest review and did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review. The opinions expressed here are strictly my own. I have loved this series from the beginning and think that James did an exceptional job not only at character development, but in the entire concept of spiritual realm travel and warfare. To have the ability to war within the spiritual realm and to further the cause of Jesus Christ is so mind blowing, you can't help but get lost in the true meaning behind it all. There is a freedom that comes from being released from the bondage that keeps us from truly seeing what God wants us to see and know as well as the softening of the human heart towards the things of God. That is why so many remain blinded even in our world today, despite what is apparent to us as believers. 2 Corinthians 4:4 makes this point perfectly clear and thus, I believe, defines the purpose of the Warriors Riding to set unbelievers free. " "The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God."

I can easily give this one a 5 out of 5 stars and was my favorite novel in the entire Well Springs Novel Series. I love how James defines Simon, the street magician's role in this novel and shows just what connection he has had to the group. It also shows us how subtly the enemy can even work in the believers life to gain a foothold to cause chaos and temptation where we least expect it. I know I came away with this a whole lot stronger in my faith in Christ and the battle we all face every single day. This novel is the third and final book in the Well Springs Series and isn't designed to be read as a stand alone as James L. Rubart's previous novels have. To begin the journey, pick up Soul's Gate, then Memory's Door before concluding with Spirit Bridge. Definitely a must read for fans of spiritual warfare fiction.

The Warriors Riding return in fine form in the final installment of the "Well Spring" series. Brandon, Marcus, Reece and Dana have embraced their calling and gone to battle in the spiritual realms, seeing tremendous success with the Spirit's leading. At the same time, they have endured life-altering attacks that have left deep wounds behind that have been allowed to fester, wounds that need time to heal. But the demon warlord Zennon battles on without pause as he unleashes a hidden plan to take the team down, from the inside out. Soon the Warriors find themselves facing their greatest challenge yet, with their very lives at stake.
"Spirit Bridge" is an amazing tale, an epic conclusion to a series that has truly challenged me spiritually and left me longing for the intimate relationship the Warriors experience with each other and the Holy Spirit. The story is action-packed with scenes of good and evil abounding, all leading up to a truly memorable battle between good and evil. Now, I will say that Brandon's character annoyed me quite a bit in this book - likely as was designed to do, as he is reeling at the loss of his voice and what this means for his future. But though on occasion I found his character to be simply unlikable, the Brandon at the beginning of the book provides for a fine contrast for the transformation that readers trust is to come. All in all, the characters in Spirit Bridge are intriguing and original, and I enjoyed watching them grow and be challenged over the course of the novel. I loved the introduction of Miyo to the scene as well, and I think it would be awesome to meet her again in a future Rubart novel! Rubart's writing is as exciting and as thought-provoking as ever, and I truly enjoyed not only this book but the entire series.

I strongly recommend this book and award it 4 out of 5 stars. Those who have missed the first two books in the series (Soul's Gate and Memory's Door) should plan on picking up copies of their own and diving right in to these excellent books!

Spirit Bridge is the third and final episode in the Well Spring series. And wow, it sure finishes in a mighty way, so much so I’m very sad that it has now ended.

I’d suggest all readers read the first two in the series: Soul’s Gate and Memory’s Door, not just because they are fabulous novels but they provide a valuable introduction to this final episode.

This one starts where the last one ended, the Warriors Riding hoping to take some time out to rest and convalesce after the battle with Zennon and his demonic warlords. However, the Spirit has other ideas and it isn’t long before the battle is renewed and with tragic circumstances.

Two additional characters play pivotal roles. Simon, who we’ve met previously, and are never quite sure whose side he’s on. Rubart manages this ambiguity brilliantly. The second, Miyo, is in fact a new character and she plays an important leadership role in discerning the insidious plot of Zennon.

Brandon and Dana’s characters are well developed in this episode and I especially grew to like both of them. The romantic tension between them continues as an undercurrent but doesn’t distract the reader in developing empathy for them both.

What I particularly appreciated about this episode is how Rubart presents spiritual warfare in the context of the daily battle we all have in surrendering our desires and hopes to God. He explores it through Reece, Brandon and Dana demonstrating how each of them unknowingly allows the enemy to infiltrate through some form of self-glorification.

This culminates in a fantastic final battle scene that is magnificently described allowing the reader to visualize it effortlessly.

This is a wonderful series that so powerfully demonstrates spiritual warfare in a fictional context that is uplifting, challenging and thrilling in its suspensefulness.

I can’t recommend it enough and so look forward to reading Rubart’s next creation.

{My Review}

Rating: 4.5 Stars!!

The Spirit Bridge by James Rubart is reminiscent of a Ted Dekker and Frank Perreti novel. The Spirit Bridge deals with the supernatural, good and evil. This normally is not the type of book I would pick up, but this author has been recommended to me countless times. So I thought I would give it a try. It was overall a good and strong novel. I'm quite surprised I enjoyed it so much. I will definitely be reading Jim's other works.

Truly loved reading this story and conclusion to Rubart's trilogy, Spirit Bridge felt like MORE than a story on the page it felt like what I face often in spiritual warfare. Unlike Warriors Riding, I can't see angels and demons, but I know what it's like to face doubts in my faith and in God's love when facing hardships.

There is a death of one of the characters, but it was really well written and a new person is introduced into the group as a direct result of that death. This new person, Miyo, enhances the plot far more than anticipated since the others don't know her full capacity yet. She also brings closure to the group with a goodbye letter for everyone. This person's memory is honored throughout the story.

I didn't like or trust or even understand Simon in Book 2 and he returns here, he gets a COMPLETE transformation in the story that you will HAVE to read to believe it. He ends up almost saving the day in the final showdown the others have to deal with in the conclusion and it's VERY impressive how he helps them!

I truly appreciated how Zennon and his attacks on the others' minds works, it really is brilliant and helpful how Rubart describes those attacks. And even though it's fun to read how the group wields their swords, the battle is mostly speaking God's truth or praising Him in worship. Very true and very relatable.

The angels are interesting, but they are in the story very little. The group members have to seek God on their own for the most part and trust what the spirit is doing. Even Reece gets infected with a tricky demonic spirit in this book and it's not pleasant to see how it changes his demeanor. Again though, I relate to how this works in real life.

Obedience to God's voice and believing His Word is key to this entire story, which sounds simple enough and easy to do, but it's not. It's easier to get distracted and discouraged and start to doubt. Miyo is the only character in the story who seems to FULLY realize who God is, in truth and in her life and she never doubts. She is even able to describe/explain scriptures in a practical way and she asks Dana at one point: "Don't you know the Word?" Every Christian who claims to know Christ should indeed understand the Word in this measure but many of us don't or we forget.

Nothing about this book or this trilogy is preachy or predictable, and it felt more real to me in fiction form. Highly recommend this series and so grateful I joined a book exchange that provided me with Soul's Gate...Rubart is a must read author you won't want to miss.

The adventure ends and begins

I have journeyed with Reese, Dan's, Brandon, and Marcus for three books that introduced me to possibilities of spiritual warfare I never considered. While the stories are fiction, the truths contained reach beyond their world and into mine. I was entertained but I was also instructed, inspired and challenged. This series has made a lasting change in my perception of realms and realities. We must move forward now with wisdom, anticipation, and joy as the Spirit leads.

Stunningly Amazing

This book is full of adventure. But most importantly, it made me think about my own spiritual freedom. I will be evaluating any lies I’ve believed. There is victory in freedom and in knowing your true identity in Christ. What a wonderful way to learn about these things and become less afraid of spiritual warfare, which is unavoidable if we are walking with the Lord!

A thrilling end to a thrilling series. I didn't like what was happening to some of my favorite characters in this book. Not because it wasn't well written, but because we are all so vulnerable to the influence of sin and the enemy of our souls. It didn't look good on them, and it doesn't look good on us. I encourage you to read all three books in this series, but don't miss out on Spirit Bridge!

Absolutely phenomenal! I cannot say enough good things about this series. Looking forward to reading more of James L Rubart. Spiritual warfare is real, more real than many of us realize. And I think this is probably closer to the truth that many want to see. Definitely going to need to add these to my bookshelf to read again!

This lost a bit of cohesion at the end, but Rubart kept me guessing for what really counted. A very solid ending to a trilogy. That said, if you were already annoyed with some of the characterizations, get ready to grit your teeth for a few hundred pages.

Spirit Bridge—the third and final book in the three-book Well Spring series by James Rubart—is a cat-and-mouse game of evil versus good. In it we follow members of the Warriors Riding Ministry—Reece, Doug, Brandon, Marcus, and Dana that readers have met in books one and two. We’re also introduced (or re-introduced) to a couple of less familiar characters, namely Miyo and Simon the Magician.

We’re just aware enough of what’s going on in the spiritual realms, ‘peopled’ by the likes of the demon Master and his minions Caustin and Zennon, and angels Tristan, Orson, and Jotham, to keep us on the edge of our seats. The caginess of the enemy and the fact that we’re not exactly sure on which side some of the characters are makes for some nervous scenes with surprising outcomes. Of course the fact our heroic warriors haven’t been able to successfully ward off calamity in the past adds to the tension as we question, Rubart wouldn’t actually let his heroes come to serious harm, would he?—uh, yes, he would. Add to all that several hand-to-hand battles and you have an often heart-pounding read.

The elements of Rubart’s fantasy setting are a combination of imagination, psychic phenomenon (like soul travel), and a sometimes literal interpretation of certain Bible passages. For example when the angels are fighting and “Each of them held the arrows up close to their mouth and spoke as if giving the arrows instruction...” Miyo recognizes the scriptural origin: “’This is Habakkuk chapter three come to life “...Your bow was made ready; oaths were sworn over your arrows”’” Kindle Location 6704.

This book was my introduction to the series. I’d recommend reading the other books first. Though I did eventually get into the swing of the story, the characters make lots of references to previous adventures to which I wasn’t privy so I felt a little out of it.

Though I enjoyed the suspense of the plot, the imaginative setting, and how Rubart envisioned the interplay of the natural world with the spiritual, my favorite parts of the story were where characters got insights into the spiritual implications of what was happening in them.

For example, when Brandon discovers he can sing again, but only some of the time, he tries to understand why. He says, “... I have a feeling when I sing his songs, I get the voice you heard. When I sing my own, I get the raspy voice you’re hearing right now” – K.L. 1672.

And when Dana is learning from Miyo about vulnerability to the enemy, Miyo tells her: “I know the only way warfare can get in is through an opening. A crack in our souls. Those cracks come from sin. Things we are holding onto. I don’t know what it is in you. Hardness of heart? Having to prove yourself? Needing to perform? .... You offered him a seam, and he was able to worm his way through and plant thoughts and images and promises and suggestions and warfare inside you” – K.L. 5316.

Spirit Bridge might be a fantasy. But in it I found a lot of truth.

I received Spirit Bridge as a gift from the publisher, Thomas Nelson, for the purpose of writing a review.

James L. Rubart in his new book, “Spirit Bridge” Book Three in the Well Spring series published by Thomas Nelson gives us the concluding adventure with the four members of Warriors Riding.

From the back cover: The warriors riding have battled in astounding supernatural realms.

The war isn’t over yet! The battle rages on! Our band of warriors is tired and they need rest and time to heal but there isn’t any. The first two books in this series have been terrific however I think this is Mr. Rubart at his very finest. Good versus evil, the angelic host and opposed to them, of course, are the demonic host. For the Warriors Riding to lose the cost would be staggering. “Spirit Bridge” is a very exciting book. One that will keep you flipping pages trying to find out what will happen next just as fast as you can read and flip. Everything is Biblical and Mr. Rubart is at the top of his game with his writing. “Spirit Bridge” will keep you asking questions, once you get the answer to one question it leads you to another and then another. This is an adrenaline laced adventure story. The characters are extraordinary and well written and you get involved with every one of them. This is a just plain fun, exciting story that entertains as well as makes us think. Mr. Rubart has batted in a winner and I recommend this book highly.

I’m thankful for the review copy of a story that not only lifted the veil to the spiritual battle ragging around me but this book told readers how to fight the enemy and listen to the holy spirit guidance. The best part it was done in an engaging, non-preachy, enthralling way! Loved that!

I was blown away at James L. Rubarts imagination and style of writing this series; as he had Reece, Dana, Brandon and Marcus enter into different realities when they prepared for battle. I liked how this author showed how clever and beautiful the enemy and his minions can be too.

The thing that unnerved me was the introduction of Miyo and Simon into the inner circle of the Warriors Riding. I wasn’t sure if Miyo was from the dark side with all her moves and how she went about doing things in the spirit world. I was on the edge of my seat. I didn’t know if Simon was on the up and up either. This author did make me squirm as I wasn’t sure what would happen on the next page to the cast in the Warriors Riding I cared deeply about.

This author does a great job in revealing who God is and gives reminder of how much he loves us. Reece reminds Brandon, We have the spirit of God of the universe in us. The God who created the earth. The God who moved time backward as recorded in Isiah thirty-eight. The God who says we can move mountains with the faith of a mustard seed. The God who.

Brandon hears God speak to him after Reece talks to him, I've never loved you for your voice, or your songs, or what you've brought millions of people. I love you for you, Brandon. Now you have a choice; to love me for me but it is your decision. I love that!

Thank you James Rubart for a brilliant imaginative, thought providing, suspenseful novel that not only entertained and encouraged my spirit but also kept me up late because I couldn’t put it down. All three of the novels in this series were like that for me. I couldn’t have asked for more! This book has a very satisfying ending; one you’ll be thinking about for a long time.

I highly recommend this book for a great summer read and as a book club pick. The author has discussion questions in the back of the book that will help ignite lively discussion at your book club meeting. This series is a keeper. I know that Ill be checking back to things in the book that I can apply to my life and its battles!
