The message behind this story has a great meaning. The message behind “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” relates to children who grows up not knowing the struggles of adulthood. Not knowing the rules and laws adults have to follow and obey by. Alice represents the children, and the adventures she overcomes represents the opening to adulthood.

This adaptation for kids was ok. I know the story of Alice in Wonderland is confusing but the kids version was more confusing. I should have read the original first, then read this.

My knowledge of Alice in Wonderland prior to reading this were basically the Cheshire Cat and a Tom Petty video. This book is weird. Really weird. Like Carroll had to be high as a kite while writing this. The occurrences are just bizarre.

So I read this over the course of a few nights with my three year old daughter. She'd been watching Dora in Wonderland and I thought we'd try it. She's definitely not ready. With pictures on occasional pages there is something to engage her. At the same time, I found her staring into space frequently enough. Frankly, we're about three years early.

The pros…for a kid, Carroll reflects the power of imagination and dreams. The very limitlessness of ideas that cross Alice's path are a powerful message for one as young as my daughter. I'm astounded by her imagination as it is. With a book such as this the power to imagine is explored and appreciated. Its a great lesson for her that she should open her mind to any and everything. The only hope I have is that in 15 years she's not still seeing magical rooms, size changing mushrooms and men dressed as cards. Then I'll know she's on the same stuff as Carroll.

I'm grading this as a three. I don't know what to make of it. Its a quick and light read. But the bizarreness was too much for me. Try it again with my kids in 2017.

Alice in Wonderland is another story from my childhood that I just adore. I love how odd it is, how adventurous, and how there are absolutely no limitations to ones imagination and creativity. This was a shortened, junior readers edition so I didn't get the full effect of Lewis Carroll's original story but I did get enough of it to realize the original story was MUCH weirder than the movie versions I'm so used to. And I really loved it. It was such a fun story regardless of how much more odd it was. In fact, I'm sure that extra weirdness improved my enjoyment of the story. I'm really glad I got to read some version of this story, as I've wanted to for so long. I'm sure at some point I'll read the full version and get to enjoy it all over again!

I'm sure we're all familiar with the basics of this story, with all the film adaptations and school plays. The previously mentioned story-telling, as far as I have seen, tends to leave out a large chunk of the original story. That isn't necessarily a bad thing, it does tend to lead to a more coherent story-line, but part of the whimsy of this story is the randomness of it.

I am personally, more of a fan of the Disney version, but I did enjoy the original, just in a different way.

This book was a gift to my 7-year-old from her older sister. A lot of what makes this book great went over her head. She was also a little bored with it at times because she "already saw the movie," although she did perk up when we reached parts of the book that were not in the movie. Hopefully, she'll revisit this a little later when she'll get more out of it.

I have to say so far with the classics I have read this just confused me and Alice's temper kinda annoyed me but she was going mad after all *wink wink*
