Inspired by the nursery rhyme, "This Is the House That Jack Built," a whimsical poem by the illustrator of Cyndy Szekeres' I Love My Busy Book tells the story of Jack the bunny and the snowmouse he builds on a winter afternoon.
Cyndy Szekeres (pronounced "zeck-er-es") is the daughter of a toolmaker, Stephen Szekeres, and his wife Anna Ceplousky Szekeres. In 1954, Szekeres earned a certificate from the Pratt Institute in New York. Szekeres has illustrated over 40 children's books, and is best known for her animal characters. She has also written or compiled and self-illustrated 67 titles. Szekeres won the AIGA Award for her work on Moon Mouse (1969). Szekeres currently lives on a farm in Vermont.
This book teaches children how to build whatever they want, and the essentials they will need. Also kids are able to use their imaginations deciding what they prefer to build. It is going to be their choice.
The Mouse That Jack Built by Cyndy Szekeres was interesting.I thought this book was entertaining but the pictures were not very elaborate. To me it seemed that more effort went into rhyming the words in the text than to bring the story to life with vivid and profound pictures.
