Four Million Steps is a novel by Tommy Neeson who ran from Maine to Florida to raise money and awareness for the Ronald McDonald House Charities. This inspirational story is about a father who turns the loss of a child into a quest of remarkable physical tests as an incredible journey unfolds.
Tommy gives us a glimpse into his incredible journey. Runners will enjoy it, and non-runners will appreciate the dedication and effort that went in to it. Humor and quirkiness sprinkled in to keep you guessing about what comes next.
Great story, kept me captivated, writing was semi-strong. Loved how he interweaves daughter's cancer story into the run/journey. Definitely recommended for runners!
No idea how this book reviewed by 12 people made it onto my list but I really wish it hadn’t. It’s dreadfully amateurish in the way it’s written with the author mostly struggling to convey what’s actually going on with his challenge at nearly every stage (a challenge I’ll add that he didn’t actually complete, again due to an illness/injury that he struggles to explain). The moments where he details his daughters illness are the most heartfelt and interesting, the rest where (presumably as a defence mechanism) he tries to convey himself as a wacky ‘Im with stupid’ t-shirt wearing cRaZy guy are nauseatingly annoying. I was basically delighted to finish this.
Generous 2 Stars.
