First, I want to thank E.M. Bannock for providing me with this book so I may bring you this review.
Totally Devoted by E.M. Bannock Is a sweet story that will put a smile on your face and love in your heart. However, there will be a few twists along the way you will not see coming.
E.M. starts out her story one way and totally shocks the readers (ok she shocked me and I admit I started tearing up) then took the book in a totally different direction. So, even though it was a short read you got two different books wrapped into one. It was quite different than I was used to. However, you saw the main character evolve as she was trying to find herself.
One of my favorite parts of the story was how Marie and Charles one of the Doctors at the clinic she worked at. When I was working in healthcare it was a situation, I wish would always happen to me. So, I was all in favor for this friendship.
I loved the fact that Marie was a vegetarian from California. What was comical is Wil kept calling her a “Fruitcake.” Her former lifestyle and diet would not cut it where they were. I am all for that lifestyle (as I am semi but I kept picturing that scene in my head and was laughing out loud!
E.M. Banncock wants to acknowledge this book would not be possible without the support and encouragement of her husband and her family members. She is very thankful for 5 Prince Publishing and her editor June Ruppel for their professional advice, assistance in polishing this manuscript and for all their confidence in her abilities.
This was a fun book to read. It’s sort of a romantic suspense western that mixes up into a great storyline good enough to make you keep the pages turning. It has a certain amount of tragedy and yet a love story in it and maybe more than anything it is about the mistrust many of us have in learning to love again. Marie really and truly does meet that quiet shy loving doctor that many girls dream of only to lose both him and their child within 10 years. With much support from her family she decides to build a house on her husband’s property out in the middle of nowhere or at least outside a town that sounds small enough to be where Bonanza must have been located way back when. She’s a vegetarian where most restaurants serve steaks and fries and is very quickly told she sticks out. The problem lies not only in dealing with a stubborn good looking builder she has hired but also determining what she will do for a living. Encouraged by her sister, she decides to begin writing again. You will never ever guess what genre Marie decides to write in and you sure won’t read it in this review. Guess you’ll have to read the book. You can probably tell I liked these characters. They were very easy to see and feel from the author’s description of them. By description I don’t mean just what they look like but also what they think, what they say and what they feel. An author can help us learn to feel we know a character as we read and this author does just that. As far as I can tell, this is E.M. Bannon’s first book. I think everyone who reads “Totally Devoted” will agree with me that she needs to write another book.

Totally Devoted is a contemporary romance by E.M. Bannock. After spending years of solitude following her husband and son’s death, Marie Trousdale decides to move from Oregon to the property in Selma, which she inherited from her husband Charles when he died. There, she meets Wil Townsend who happens to be the exact opposite of her husband. Wil is rough in all places that Charles wasn’t, both in looks and actions. Charles was kind, sweet, and patient, while Wil is rough, sometimes rude, and certainly on a short fuse. But then despite all that, Wil awakens something inside of Marie that she has forgotten about.
Review
Loved this book! I loved the horse ride adventure, the tension between Wil and Marie, Marie’s alter ego, the amusing John Wayne references where Wil even named his son, Duke. It's also nice how the story didn't just revolve around Marie, but also her family, particularly her sister Shelley who died of cancer, and her very annoying husband who got what he deserved in the end. I’m giving this book 5 out of 5 stars! Wil and Marie’s romance made my heart flutter, and Sheila Erotica as Marie’s alter ego made this book even more exciting! I highly recommend it to mature readers who want to experience an erotic romance story that you couldn’t put down.
A good story: This was an enjoyable book. It was a mature relationship and I liked that Marie and Wil's romance developed gradually, naturally and without any unnecessary angst. They were both grieving love and circumstances in their own way and it took them a while to finally allow themselves to seek happiness and love again. This was an older book, the third edition, and set in 1998. Nevertheless it didn't feel dated and it fit with the story. I enjoyed the suspense element and found myself anxiously awaiting what was going to happen next. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Marie needs a fresh start after losing her husband and son w0-years previously, and she moves to rural Oregon where she hires contractor Wil to build her dream house. These two butt heads as she is a vegetarian and he is a meat and potatoes man, and they may be complete opposites, but they complement each other perfectly. This is a well written debut, with danger, intrigue, suspense, grieving, loss, healing, tension, romance, family, and love, which leads to a great story. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I recommend.
Wil and Marie have a very suspenseful and romantic story here on this roller coaster ride. The characters have intense feelings, emotions and great backstories. The storyline has drama, danger, kidnapping, arson, lies, apologies, book tours, a cabin in the woods, a mountain man and his son, and a writer of erotic romances. This book hits all your emotions as the details of the locales and events make you feel like you are right there. Great ending..
