Ease: Manage Overwhelm in Times of Crazy Busy

Rate this book
We live in times of unprecedented busyness. The demands and pace of work and life are at an all-time high, and they don't appear to be slowing down. Whether our loads are self-imposed or put on us by others, most of us are doing our best to squeeze it all in-and we're starting to burst at the seams. In Ease, author and certified coach Eileen Chadnick offers a prescription for these busy times with a toolkit of hundreds of tips and strategies to bring more ease into your work and life. The strategies-tried and tested through Chadnick's personal experience with herself and her clients-draw from the wisdom of neuroscience, emotional intelligence, positive psychology, leadership, and coaching. In Ease, Chadnick divides the tools into three areas of focus to leverage the mind-brain connection, empower mindful thinking strategies, and highlight the positivity advantage. Ease is about more than just getting things done; it seeks to help you alleviate overwhelm, reconnect with your work-life mojo, and experience greater personal and professional well-being. "Rooted in science, research, and common sense, Ease is a powerful and thoughtful book to help us all manage our frenetic lives. Best of all, it reads like you're in the room, one-on-one, with coaching pro Eileen Chadnick. And I can tell you from personal experience, that's a wonderful place to be." -Terry Fallis, award-winning author of The Best Laid Plans and cofounder of Thornley Fallis Communications "Eileen has done us busy people an enormous service with Ease. It is quite one thing to know what the neuroscience and positive psychology research says about dealing with times of 'crazy busy, ' but quite another to apply the strategies to our own lives. Eileen bridges both and lays out a smorgasbord of solid ideas that are easy to grasp and to customize to one's own needs." -Linda J. Page, PhD, president of Adler International and coauthor of Coaching with the Brain in Mind

When I read on Eileen Chadnick's blog that she'd written & published a book I just had to buy it! What excited me the most initially was the ability to delve into more detail the questions she poses when completing your Year in Review & The Year Ahead. That is how I first came to know about Eileen's work at Big Cheese Coaching last year, thanks to an article in the Globe & Mail.

The 12 questions is a wonderful exercise if you are anything like me, someone who believes that a life worth living is one that gets some examination. I like to take the time at the end of every year to step back from my life & work, reflecting on the year gone by while setting my intentions for the upcoming year - embracing my hopes & dreams, building on my successes & observations from the year gone by. Eileen's 12 questions helped me go a little deeper into that process which is why I loved them.

I was thrilled to read that she had written a book providing specific, concrete examples on how to bring more ease into our busy lives along with tools & strategies to make our lives more manageable & much more productive as a result! All important ingredients for making our own dreams a reality.

I have been in business for 15 years & prior to that worked in the field of education & social services. I have struggled with the "crazy busy" syndrome all my working life. I am grateful that Eileen wrote this book, for all the practical ideas, tools, & advice provided. A book that can be read with ease as well as producing the same in our own personal & professional lives.

I loved EASE! Eileen has written this book for all of us who are overwhelmed with today's fast pace - and who isn't? Wth very practical strategies that are easily applied and integrated into everyday life, I've already built a few of them into my toolkit. When I'm stuck with a brain freeze of overwhelm, that quick little question "what CAN I do now?" gives me a positive jump start and gets my brain moving again! Eileen's shares her insight as a coach, with stories of clients concerns that resonate and solutions that make sense. While EASE is a quick and easy read, Eileen refers to recent neuroscience research, positive psychology and includes a generous use of refererences to other great reads and fascinating research. This is rapidly becoming one of my reference "go to" books for self help!

This book is all about tools that anyone can use to manage competing/conflicting priorities in both personal and professional life. Although I don't plan on using the cha-cha-cha tool anytime soon, there are plenty of other strategies that will prove very useful to help me increase my level of "ease" and decrease my moments of "overwhelm." Written with humour, this is an easy yet effective read. Highly recommend this book.
