It's only the end of the world ... Nathan's job for the past three thousand years has been to clean up supernatural messes. Jaded, ruthlessly effective and selfless, he's seen it all and can handle anything - demons, homicidal angels, even bad bosses. His latest challenge: A creature named Shadowman is seeking out the three keys it believes will open portals between earth and hell. Nathan must eliminate the human host guiding Shadowman to the keys. Except Nathan isn't expecting the woman anchoring Shadowman to the human world to be beautiful, witty, innocent and completely unaware of the creature manipulating her. Worse, she makes him feel alive for the first time in his long existence, and he haphazardly discovers she's meant to become the love of his life. Life becomes more complicated when Nathan helps rescue one of the key holders, a deaf girl charged with protecting the secret of who Shadowman really is: the first of four demons headed to the human world, intent on bringing about the Apocalypse. They will succeed, unless Nathan kills the woman he loves, and sends the demon back to Hell.

Another great idea from Lizzy Ford. This one features angels and demons and the potential destruction of the world. Like the other Ford books I have read there is an alpha guy who is a bit of an ass and in this one his name is Nathan. He is a spirit guide who job is to look after angels who have taken human bodies. He is the best at what he does and at 3000 years old he has has lots of time to learn. He is also a hit with the ladies but hasn't committed to anyone since he wife died all those years ago and the most importantly he is a hot former roman soldier :). Kaylee has the unfortunate task of being tied to a Shadowman that will take the form of death and destroy the earth if he can get a human form and Nathan's job is to find and kill the her.
That is a basic premise but of course there is lots of drama, sexual tension, lust, betrayal and funny moments too. There are some great scenes and lines, here are some of my favs:
“You’re asking if you can murder me?” Kaylee wasn’t certain she heard him right. “It’s only temporary.”..... “How long is temporary?” she asked, wracking her brain to try to make sense of his surreal request. "Five minutes. Maybe ten. It shouldn’t be painful,” he replied smoothly. “Shouldn’t be,” she repeated. “I think I’m going to have to decline. Respectfully, of course.”
Second, it’s not being an asshole that makes women fall at your feet. It’s your twelve inch dick! That’s all you have going for you, Nathan, because your people skills suck!” "Ten and a half, but thanks for the boost.”
Underneath the drama there is also a blossoming romance between two couple however it is left pretty much open for Nathan and Kaylee after he does something awful and will probably have to do more before they can be together.
This is part of a series so don't expect a resolve in this book. I will definitely read the rest in the series to find out what is going to happen and hope Nathan can redeem himself.
I was provided with an ARC from NetGallery for an honest review
I’ve been trying to write this review for a few days now and each time I write it, it’s riddled with spoilers. Since I do not want to give anything away, because this really is a book you need to read and experience for yourself, I’m scratching the other tries.
So … what can I say about Hear No that is not a spoiler? Well, it was definitely another hit by Lizzy Ford. Angels, demons, guardians, humans. What I really loved about this book was the characters. There were a ton of them, and they all fit together perfectly. Loved Nathan and Kaylee. Loved Amira and Troy. Honestly, I loved them all.
The storyline moved at a great pace, without a single dull moment. But then, if you’ve already read some of Lizzy’s books, you know that her pacing is always awesome. She has a way of telling stories that keeps you on the edge of your seat and makes you not want to put the book down, even when it ends.
To sum it up … THIS BOOK ROCKS and I cannot wait for the next one in this series.
I got this book through Netgalley for Free in Exchange of an honest review.
have to admit, I picked up this book on the whim from Netgalley because I could read it now and I was starving for a paranormal. I was actually pleasantly surprised with this one. I have not read anything by Lizzy Ford before, but I have heard great things about her. I walked away with a knowledge of a new authors, and a brand new series to follow!
The world is in trouble. A creature that is known as the Shadowman is on the lose and is looking for the three keys that would open up the portal between earth and hell and unleash the Archdemons of the apocalypse. Nathan's job for the past thousands of years is to clean up supernatural messes, unfortunately this one is the biggest challenge of his life. In order to defeat Shadowman he must kill it's host, who happens to be a beautiful and innocent woman who is completely unaware of the fact that Shadowman is actually real and not a figment of her stressed out life.
What I really liked about this book...
The characters. I really liked the characters. Amira, Nathan, Kaylee, and Troy. They really gave life to the book and it started to take on the shape of its own. I liked Nathan, and I liked the fact that he seemed so real. Before meeting Kaylee, he was basically a man whore. Living his life the way he wanted and doing his job, in the most effective way he seemed fit. In a way his actions are questioned by others, but they seemed to be doing the job and that makes him one of the best. His a man whore who wants no attachment and the struggle continues when he meets Kaylee and all the way through the book. Especially when he finds out how she is really connected to him. I was glad when that posed a challenge, because it defied his character. Troy and Amira are my other two favorites. It's so cute to watch him protect a girl who is deft and has a lot hanging on her shoulders. Amira carries this stones that play a major part of the book and the Shadowman want's them. The theme of the book was kind of different for me. I have to admit, I have never read a book about reincarnated angels. So that being said, it's probably not for you if you have a problem with that. Because the major characters are reincarnated angels, and the whole theme is a bit heaven versus hell basically, but on earth. I enjoyed it and found it much more refreshing over my last few paranormal reads. I don't think there was ever a dull moment. The book moved at a good pace and the entire time kept me hooked and on the edge of the seat. I found myself wanting answers, and what Nathan was going to do about this whole situation. Especially since he had to kill Kaylee in order to get rid of Shadowman and it was for the greater good and his inner battle did not disappoint. I did have a hard time putting this one down, wanting to know how it all turned out in the end, so I devoured this book quickly. There was obviously romance, which I enjoyed. Especially the connection some of these characters shared. It will be interesting how it all plays out in the end. I love the fire between Nathan and Kaylee but there is also a great big wall between them. Especially the fact that Nathan needs to kill her. The writing. Lizzy Ford really knows how to tell the story and she started this series already on the high note. Sure there was somethings that left me frustrated and hanging with questions – but I think she did a wonderful job. She knows how to pull the reader in, and the only downside is that it's a new series and I have to wait for book 2!
Not so much...
Zyra ugh.. Not sure there is much to say here. I didn't really like her. Her character makes me mad. She has special attachments to Nathan and I won't go into what it is, or else it's a spoiler but she irks me. She is the leader of the group 3G, which is a group of rebel I guess after the greater good and they are also after Kaylee. Her role in this book is kept kind of quiet, but it seems like it's going to play a big one in the end. The ending.. okay.. to be fair it's only because it left me wanting more. I wouldn't call it a cliffhanger, but the set up for book two is perfect. A lot of things are going to happen I think and my grabby hands itch to have it now! The OTL... I won't say what it stands for because it also plays a big part in the book – kinda. It's sweet, I get it...but it's also a bit cheesy. Or it appeared to me anyway. But! It did add to the drama of Kaylee and Nathan so this doesn't bother me as much as it would otherwise I guess.
So in the nutshell, I really enjoyed this series. It does have a naughty rate R 18+ moment near the end of the book, so just beware. It doesn’t bother me, but the book is meant for people 18 and older. I cannot wait for the next book in the series to see what happens. I get so excited when I find a new favorite paranormal! Oh and while I wait, I guess I am going to dig into some other Lizzy Ford books I have picked up!

I was provided with an ARC from NetGallery for an honest review
Having recently discovered Lizzy Ford as an author and enjoyed other books of hers, I was excited to see Hear No in NetGalley and requested a copy.
The story is reasonably paced but I found my mind wandering a little. I really liked Nathan as a character and Kaycee was a lot like myself with the way she thinks and acts(In some situations!!).
The problem I had with this book was the subject matter I think. Having gotten back into 'paranormal romance' again recently after a huge break I enjoyed the aspects of the Shadowman and his part in the story. It was the angels that just didn't gel with me at all. For this reason I gave the book 3 stars as the story is good, its intriguing and I feel all Lizzy Ford fans will appreciate this new serious. I could not let me personal feelings of being 'anti angels' at present, dictate this was a poor book - as its not.
That and Nathan is HOT!
So, I gave Hear no 3 stars. At a later date I may return to re read this book. I have done this before with other series and then changed my review - this may well be the case with this book.
I wasn't really sure what to expect but I actually really enjoyed this book. Very original and it was a breath of fresh air compared to what I've been reading lately. Can't wait to read the next one!
This was an okay read. There was suspense, mystery, loss, steamy scenes and more but there were times where the story felt as if it was all over the place, and it ends with a cliffhanger. This was an okay, but one time read story for me.
If you have never read a Lizzy Ford book, you'll be surprised and frankly amazed to learn that she has a knack for writing great stories across a broad spectrum of topics from witchcraft to voodoo, angels to Gods, demons to aliens, etc. What is truly amazing is the timing...Lizzy is generally writing more than one book at a time and keeping those stories straight in her head is mind boggling given how fast she cranks these out. This book, and series, focuses on angels. Both, reincarnated and fallen angels. Although the concept isn't all-together new, the story line does have some unique aspects to it and you'll either love or hate the characters.
I will admit that this one took me a little time to get into. There were a few stories going on throughout the book. In addition to the main characters - Kaylee and Nathan - there was also Amira and Troy, Zyra, Maddy, Shadowman...yep, there is a story there and we'll hopefully learn more in the next book. To give a little background, reincarnated angels are angels who made the decision to be born as a human...to give up being an angel to experience life rather than watch over humans. There is a hierarchy to angels both on earth as well as in heaven. Humans have guardian angels who watch over them; reincarnated angels have guides. They are not angels, but humans who are recruited by other guides and are gifted with abilities to help them in their new role. Their role is to help the reincarnated angel adjust to life as a mortal. Fallen angels are those who decide that they no longer want to protect their charges, but instead become "demons".
Amira is a newly reincarnated angel (RA). Unlike other gen ones (or new RA), she has been tasked with protecting a handful of special moonstones. These stones in the wrong hands can lead to chaos via the release of arch-demons. Shadowman is hunting Amira. Nathan is a guide who doesn't exactly follow the preordained rules of a guide, but still manages to get the job done where others fail. He is recruited by Maddy, another guide to hunt down Shadowman's anchor in order to kill him. Unfortunately, his anchor is Kaylee...someone else who is special in the grand scheme of things and in addition, someone he is drawn to.
There are some twists and turns throughout this book. Once you become familiar with the characters, you get drawn into the interactions between them. Their struggles to trust, in Kaylee's case, to believe what she has been involuntarily thrust into. Troy is lost, Nathan is a commitment-phobe who is determined to not become emotionally involved with any woman, Zyra is playing at something that I just have not figured out yet, and there is something about Shadowman that Amira has yet to reveal...secrets, lots of secrets and you'll learn some while being teased about others. In typical Lizzy fashion, you'll be salivating for the next book to find out what happens next so stay tuned.
This is the first in a series that features angels who have been incarnated as humans and the journey they take in our mortal world. In this tale we learn all about the angels and how difficult their new lives as humans are. Still too pure to cope with humanity and all it entails when first reborn they have to rely heavily on spirit guides to lead them . This story begins with a bang and doesn't let up as their tangled world is opened up and more is revealed. Amira , a deaf girl is a first generation angel made human and holds an important role in saving the earth from demons; in particular Death, War, Pestilence and Famine. Her own spirit guide sacrifices himself trying to protect her and she hides in an asylum but fate intervenes and she meets Kaylee who's existence is tied to Shadowman, a demon determined to open a portal to Hell that will allow Archdemons access to earth. Nathan is the biggest and baddest of all the spirit guides and has been tasked with finding Amira and protecting her from harm. He's been alive for more than three thousand years and has seen it all but just can't seem to understand why he feels such a connection to Kaylee who's just a human and surely is in the wrong place at the wrong time? Life gets more complicated when Amira's secret is revealed and it's vital that she and her fellow key holders remain hidden. Kaylee's Shadowman will do all he can to protect her as if she dies he cannot free his fellow demons but it's clear to all that her death would help save the world as we know it. Nathan has obligations but his own feelings for Kaylee are hard to ignore. Danger lurks as both satanists and rogue spirit guides are also hunting for them. It soon becomes clear that the only way to stop the impending apocalypse is to kill Kaylee but can Nathan sacrifice the woman that he's learning to love ? Interesting ideas abound here. The concept of angels made human and needing supernatural guides was a new one for me and a little hard to get used to at first. This is quite a complicated read initially and there's lots going on. The two central characters definitely set the page alight and the authors description of Nathans physical attributes is hilarious ! Loving the backstory and the way Nathan's human life encroaches on his new immortal one. The character Kaylee is funny as she's obsessed with horror movies and I hope we learn more about her background in further books. As for Amira's part in this I thought it was a wonderful idea to use a deaf girl as a lead as not enough books feature this aspect of humanity. She's a brave soul, full of compassion and I'm really looking forward to seeing her human journey continue in the next book ( See No) . Interesting supporting characters abound in this book from world weary immortals to surprisingly polite assassins . This is a series that can only get better and is well worth a read and I can't wait to read more.
First let me be clear...I am a major Lizzy Ford fan! Second even being a massive fan I have put off reading this one...I can't really give an explanation for that. I mean I love her other series, but this one I just wasn't sure about. Gosh I'm kicking myself now!
Hear No Evil is an amazingly written story. Even though the ending makes it clear it's not a stand alone novel, the book just draws you in and doesn't let go.
Let's start with the world Ford has created. I have to say it's quite impressive all the different worlds she has built and how she makes each one distinct. In Hear No Evil she's brought quite an interesting spin to the world of good and evil. Her angels and demons aren't monochromatic. There aren't definite lines to show who's on which side. Also the way the angels are reincarnated and experience life on earth. Throughout the story Ford gives just enough of a look into her world to tantalize the reader. I personally can't wait to continue reading the rest of the series to learn more about it.
As for her characters... Ford has a way of creating characters that are easy to fall in love with. Not just her leading ladies and men, but the supporting players as well. Even some of the bad guys have a way of causing you to want to root for them. I have to say one of my favorite characters was Eddy, who is definitely not a good guy. lol. But he is so sweet in his own way! I can't wait to see where his story goes.
Also Ford's main character in Hear No Evil is deaf. Ford is able to work her disability into the story without making the story about her disability, but it isn't. Yes, Amira's disability is an important part of the story. If she could hear she would be able to figure out what the stones are saying to her and she wouldn't need to find the rest of the girls. But throughout the story it's easy to forget that she's deaf. Ford is able to make it her weakness, while at the same time making it a strength.
I highly recommend anything written by Lizzy Ford. She creates beautiful worlds and addicting characters. But I seriously suggest picking up Hear No Evil. It's main character proves that you don't need physical perfection to be a heroine and the things that people with disabilities are able to do. The world is one of her best creations. The story...yes it ends on a cliffie, but it's one that makes you want to keep reading. I'm giving this one 5 outta 5 stars an I can't wait to see where this series goes.
I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for a fair and honest review. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.
As you all know we are huge Lizzy Ford fans and this book like all her others did not disappoint. You may ask why only 4.5 stars this go round, well simple it took me a few chapters before it all clicked. Now of course I have been in a reading funk so that could have played a part, but let me tell you once it clicks you will be sucked in.
We start out with Amira and young lady who happens to be deaf and has a huge secret that she has to keep safe. Her Guardian is doing everything and anything to protect her. Unfortunately a tragic event happens and Amira is forced to run and hide. Your heart will completely go out to Amira and her struggles. She is so smart, genuine and a heart big as the world. There are moments you just want to crawl into this book and give her a hug and tell all will be well.
We then met Nathan a Guardian who has a less than stellar record. Nate has some odd ball ways to get the job done and in his mind as long as he is doing his job that’s all that matters. Nate will have you cracking up laughing with the way he handles situations. His first scene had me dying I could not believe what he was doing. Loved his character from beginning to end.
Next up is Kaylee, wow wee this poor girl is having all kinds of issues. She has a completely and utter moron/jerk for a boss. She ends up being stabbed while with her boss at a mental institute (you have to read to know what is really happening), she has Shadowman following her every step and oh yeah she has no clue to the supernatural world that is getting ready to suck her in. Even though things seem to be falling apart for her Kaylee holds her head up high and keeps moving. I totally admire this character.
Lastly there is Troy *sigh*, if you can’t tell this is my favorite character lol. Troy has suffered a great loss and you will feel his pain and want to do exactly what Amira is trying to do, which is heal him. We don’t get a lot of Troy but what you do get will have you waiting to hear more of his story.
I really did enjoy this book and can not wait for the second one to come. There is so much that can go on with this storyline that it is so exciting. On one more personal note my daughter Katelyn is deaf and was born with brain damage as a reader I notice a lot of authors never really touch on disabilities which in of itself is sad. However Lizzy did a fantastic job with writing a deaf character and the struggles they go through. Lizzy received a message from me when I was thanking her and telling her what a wonderful job she did.
Book: Hear No (Hidden Evil Trilogy #1) Author: Lizzy Ford Publication Date: 10/16/2013 Reviewed by: Tammy Payne - http://booknooknuts.blogspot.com/ My Rating: 5 Stars
REVIEW This is my 2nd book I have ever read from this Author and let me say this book just blew me away. I am a HUGE fan of fallen angels/ angels those sort of paranormal just rock my world and Lizzy Ford definitely rocks it with this book . In this book have several different Angel Species, Demons, Spirit Guides and Guardians and oh yeah Humans. Everything takes place in the Washington DC, Northern Virginia area which I also loved considering I live in Northern Virginia The book keeps you reading its packed full of Action, with twists and turns.
We have first up in the story Amira who is a first gen and she is also deaf she is on the run from HELL itself and her guardian Scott is doing all he can to protect her but he is killed in action and before he is he tells Amira where to go for help and to run and not look back she must keep the stones safe.
Next we have a human or is she? Named Kaylee who lives in a small apartment in Reston, Virginia and comes from money. She also is seeing someone / something she has named Shadowman she doesn’t understand what is happening or why.
Enter Nathan who is a 3000 year old spirit guide who doesn’t always if ever follow the rules. Nate has been called in to help find Amira and keep her safe and in the meantime he runs into Kaylee who is at the Mental Hospital where Amira was hiding out at. Next he is also trying to save Kaylee who he learns must be killed in order to stop Shadowman from entering the portal and causing an apocalypse . Nate knows there is something going on between Kaylee and himself as when he has touched her things feel different. It is Amira who has figured out and keeps to herself that Kaylee is Nate’s OTL –One True Love. Nate has to keep Amira away from Kaylee because for some strange reason she keeps trying to kill Kaylee . He takes her to stay at one of his best friends homes Troy . Troy keeps trying to kill himself but it doesn’t happen .
Well in closing. We have Nate and Kaylee who should be together forever but will they? Can Kaylee ever trust Nate? Then we have happenings between Amira and Troy will Troy figure out that Amira is his One True Love? Pickup the next book coming out in 2/2014 and find out !!!

Another book that deserves more then 5 stars. I loved this book. Another to add to the favorites list. I have never read a book about Angels and demons before so I was very interested to see how Lizzy Ford would play this one. I have to say it was amazing and I have the urge to read it again and again.
Nathan was amazing. Can we say another hot alpha man to add to Lizzy Ford's growing list of amazing men. I loved his attitude. Loved the way he thought and how he had a no nonsense way. Everything about Nathan to me ROCKED.. Nathan did his job like no other Guardians. He did what was needed to be done to get things where it needed to be. He didn't care about rules and in the end every reincarnated Angel trusted him and went to him when they needed help. Loved naked reiki. ;)
Kaylee was a sweet girl that got thrown in the middle of everything and not by choice. She had no clue as to what was really going on in life until Nathan came around. She hated her boss and really hated her job. Her life went to hell when everything started coming out about the shadow that followed her everywhere. Slowly learning all that was really going on in her life was scary for her but she never gave up.
Amira is a deaf girl that is responsible of protecting one of the most important things in the world. She is a sweet reincarnated Angel who has a little extra powers then the other reincarnated Angels. You can't help but to fall in love with her.
Troy... Another one like Nathan. You get a glimpse of Troy in this story and even thought its not a whole lot you can't help but to fall in love with him and crave more.
Now on to my favorite. Yes I know this is crazy. Shadowman. Oh how I love Shadowman. He is the shadow that follows Kaylee around. And even though I should really dislike him. Hate him even. I can't help but to love him. Call me crazy.
This is a must read. If you love Lizzy Ford books then you already know this. If you have never picked up a Lizzy Ford book then I suggest you head on over and snatch this one up. Amazing. I don't think I can say that enough about this book.
I'm coming up with a new term for books I gobble. I'm going to call them Kindle Bruisers. Kindle Bruisers because I'm pretty sure the screen of my Paperwhite is aching as I press it over and over in the same spot.
Okay, so the newest Lizzy Ford Kindle Bruiser! First, DISCLAIMER: I received an ARC copy of HEAR NO. A review was not required or requested. I'm reviewing it because I want to. WARNING: Cliffhanger ending. Not as big as a doozy as I just read in CURSED (which comes out in November), but still there!
There are a lot of characters in this book and they all fit together like pieces of a puzzle ring: spin and twist and push and it kinda snaps into place. Demons, angels, spirit guides, guardian angels, humans, long histories, etc. It begins with an action scene and death of a guide and then flips to someone else. It isn't confusing, despite the first few chapters whirling. I kept up well with who was who.
I'm not sure what I expected of this book based on title, but I assure you, this wasn't it. This was so, so much more! I really enjoyed the descriptions of different generations, and genuinely liked Nathan, who is a rough and tough guide who does not like rule books.
I'm struggling to write this without giving away main plot points. I feel like one wrong sentence can derail your enjoyment of this. So...maybe I'll just say that this was a total page turner/Kindle Bruiser. There is action, there is emotion, there are different characters with depth and dimensions who never fall flat, there is a mystery of why this one is different, and there is so much more to come. Thankfully, February 2014 for book 2 isn't THAT far away. ;)
This is available NOW for 99cents on amazon. Or come stop by my FB page over the next few days. I'm giving away 3 amazon ecopies if you like my friend's blog page! (http://www.facebook.com/atiffyfit) There's a pinned post.

My review~~ I bought this book on amazon. Wow I really don't know where to start this review at...hmm... I'm just stunned on how this author left this book at such a cliffhanger..WOW WEEEE!! What a ending!? It leaves the question how well do we know Eddy? This author knows how to keep you on the edge of your seat and can captivate the reader to the very end and leave you saying what?? That's the end? I have to wait that long til the next one? Agony???!!!! These are thoughts and feeling I experience when reading this author's books. This is a very fast read with lots and lots of twists and turns.. I can't get this story out my head. Loved it and slowly dying with anticipation for the next book in this series!
Amazon Book Description~ It’s only the end of the world at stake …
Nathan’s job for the past three thousand years has been to clean up supernatural messes. Jaded, ruthlessly effective and selfless, he’s seen it all and can handle anything - demons, homicidal angels, even bad bosses.
His latest challenge: A creature named Shadowman is seeking out the three keys it believes will open portals between earth and hell. Nathan must eliminate the human host guiding Shadowman to the keys. Except Nathan isn’t expecting the woman anchoring Shadowman to the human world to be beautiful, witty, innocent and completely unaware of the creature manipulating her. Worse, she makes him feel alive for the first time in his long existence, and he haphazardly discovers she’s meant to become the love of his life.
My, my, my I love my Lizzy and books there's always male obsession in them and this time around his name was Nathan! He's cocky, "which is why I'm the first someone in trouble calls and the only guide every angel in existence trusts. Oh, and I'm sure you'll still be interested in some no-strings-attached naked reiki tonight." He might be of a bit a horndog in the beginning. At times the boy really thinks he's God's gift to women, "sit your a** down," he added, winking. "I know you're curious." I think the boy has sex on his mind all the time, "your place or mine?" he whispered, withdrawing enough to speak. "Mine is a few blocks away." Nathan has an easiness about him that Kaylee I'm sure can't help but love especially when it comes to things concerning the bedroom, "she paused at his belt and looked up uncertainly. "You want my pants off, I'll take them off," he asked with a husky chuckle." He's well endowed ladies, "he felt big. No, huge. She wondered how much was the pants and how much was really him. Curious, Kaylee slid a hand between them to stroke him gently through his jeans. He was huge." Feeling is one thing ladies but seeing is another, I guess that old saying 'seeing is believing' comes in to play with this one: Nathan stripped off his jeans, and she glanced down and then back, staring at the long lengeth of his arousal. "Jesus, Nathan!" she exclaimed. "I didn't expect..." "I'm well-endowed in a few areas," he told her. "C'mere." Nathan then goes off and does something to pi** Kaylee off and the girl has balls to stand her ground which I loved, "you know what, Nathan? Do me a favor and just stay away from me. You and all your friends. I'd rather deal with this alone than you!" And Nathan the boy has a hard head and well can't help but want to protect his girl, "I'm coming for you sweetheart. I don't care you or what gets in my way. They can't stop me anyway." Yep ready for the next installment.
Hear No, Hidden Evil Trilogy #1 by Lizzy Ford 4 stars
Stories with Archangels, Angels, Guardian Angels, Fallen Guardian Angels, Archdemons, Demons, Spirit Guides, can go all wrong or really right. I think this story is going really right, I am intrigued by the characters and the path this story is taking.
Amira, is a 1st gen angel turned human, also a key who will be important in preventing Death, War, Pestilence and Famine from being released from their portals. Her building relationship with Troy has so much potential to be amazing. I suspect theirs will be a bit of a sweet love story as it evolves. I want to see more of Troy and what he is really like when he is not just grieving the loss of his daughter.
Kaylee, an Archangel that doesn't even know she is one, also a key. Her explosive relationship with Nathan sizzles, but I think it could become like dynamite. I can't wait to see how this evolves once they both finally admit to each other how they really feel. Nathan, well, what's not to love about a guy who has so much natural sex appeal that you are just drawn to him. He was so committed to his wife, and let that determine his choices for thousands of years, he is bound to be so committed to Kaylee and to protecting her, that in the end they will be an unshakable couple.
Zyra, wow, really, she never tries to reconnect with her husband for thousands of years, how can she really still love him? She is a lying, conniving, evil woman. Great evil character, but can't stand her.
Eddie, can a person who has gone evil come back? I sure hope so, because he seems like his sense of right and wrong isn't completely compromised. I want to see more from him, he seems to have a definite soft spot for Kaylee.
Maggie seems to be right on the edge of going from good to evil, I hope she finds her own OTL later and that there will be more story for her in the next books.

I’ve been reading Lizzy Ford for quite some time so when I say she had a book listed on NetGalley I immediately HAD to have it. Hear No was a fantastic start to what looks like a exciting series. Angels, demons, humans, what could possibly go wrong when you mix those three together? Only the possible change that the world is ending.
I knew this was going to be a great read when Nathan hands a first gen a snow globe filled with glitter. (Ooooh, shiny object!) and a cigarette laced with LSD! Obviously, Nathan is a guardian who doesn’t mind working outside the box. His latest challenge: Nathan must eliminate the human host guiding Shadowman to the keys. Kaylee just seems to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Or is she because little does she know she is what is anchoring Shadowman to the human world. Boy are these two in for a while adventure! There are many characters with lots going making this a very busy book. Sometimes that can be distracting. For me, it was a great combination of chaos and order. In the end, this is a story about good, evil and who is on what side when it comes to the Shadowman.
I did have a head smacking moment when I finally got what the title of the book meant. Yes, Amira is deaf, but it seeing the rest of the titles in the Hidden Evil Trilogy that gave me my V8 moment. Hopefully, I don’t have to wait to long for the next book because I can’t wait to see what kind of trouble Nathan gets into next. As for Hear No, consider this book, and any other by Ms. Ford, recommended.
I received this book from Net Galley for Books, Food, and Shoes with the express purposes of an honest review. The opinions and rating of this review are solely mine and in no way was I compensated. Stars – 4, Flames - 3
"I deal with... supernatural things for a living."
Nathan is a spiritual advisor, immortal and walking the earth for hundreds of years helping the good side. Kaylee is an attorney. She is so tired and over worked that her mind plays tricks on her. She calls him the 'Shadowman', he follows her around and is induced by her hectic life. Except the Shadowman is real, he's a angel who choose evil and is on earth to help the apocalypse start. Nathan is recruited to help find and stop the Shadowman, because he always gets the job done, for the greater good. But when he discovers that the demon is hosted to an innocent girl, whom he starts to have feelings for, he realizes their is no easy solution. In order to kill the demon they must kill his host. This demon is smarter then others though, he sees everything, not just evil and knows what they want to do. Nathan must keep Kaylee safe, stop the demon, protect the key and fight off the rogue spirit guild group out for blood, lead from a blast from his past. Can he do it? Kaylee knows she's in danger. Things are happening around her that she doesn't understand. So when a mysterious man enters her life calming to have answers, can she trust him? What happens when she finds out people aren't telling her everything?
This was a very exciting read. We get to read from multiple points of view, so we see characters struggle, doubt and question what's happening around them and the choices their making. Great supporting cast of characters and witty dialogue. It starts off the bat with some action scenes that grip you and keep you till the end. I can not wait for the next installment of this series!
When I first heard about Lizzy writing this book, I wasn't super excited. She said she got the idea from a fan who complained there weren't enough stories with heroes or heroines who had disabilities. The fan is deaf, so Lizzy decided to write a book about a deaf heroine. Then she turned it into a series, and like I said - I wasn't super interested in reading it. It sounded like it was going to be all surrounded on the deaf girl, and the story would seem forced and it wouldn't work.
I was pleasantly surprised. I didn't like the character of Amira at first (the deaf heroine), because she was so weak and helpless. The first chapter almost cemented my dislike for the book. As the story progressed, though I realized that not only was Amira not as weak as she seemed, she had a reason that she was weak. Also I realized she isn't the main heroine, so the story doesn't seem forced. Then, something happened halfway through the book with Amira and another character that made me so happy. So now I love Amira.
I also really like Kaylee and Nathan's relationship. I enjoy their stubbornness and the heat between them. I like how each tries to pull back, but can't. What I don't like is Kaylee's attempts to trick Nathan into saying something nice. She is playing too many games, and keeps being disappointed. It's the only part of the book that I didn't find genuine.
All in all, I enjoyed the story and I look forward to the next installments.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I’m a big Lizzy Ford fan, and this book just reinforced why I love reading her books. As the start of a new series, I didn’t have any expectations. This book really sucked me in from the start. The characters were all really well thought out and engaging. Of course, I especially loved Nathan.
This series takes place in a world where angels are wandering around earth as humans, with only their spirit guides to ground them. Nathan is a jaded and cocky spirit guide who, while he gets the job done, does it in the most unorthodox fashion imaginable. While rescuing an incarnated angel from a mental hospital, Nathan stumbles upon Kaylee, an equally jaded junior attorney who just so happens to be stalked by “Shadowman”, her very own fallen guardian angel. Their lives intersect and poor, jaded Nathan finds himself actually feeling for the first time in years.
Nathan and Kaylee’s love story was set up nicely in this first book. I found myself really falling in love with the characters (especially the side characters in the form of Eddy, Troy, and Maggie). I loved the alpha-ness of Nathan’s character, especially when thrown up against the decidedly stubborn Kaylee. The action was good, and if I had to choose something to criticize it would only be that the story does not wrap up in this book. We are left with a cliffhanger of sorts and I’m absolutely dying to see what happens next.
'Hear No' is another success for Ford. The book is full of suspense, romance waiting to happen, and supernatural battling. Nathan is the best soul guardian with the most unorthodox approach but is the go to guy for the organization. Nathan is called in half blind to do what no one else wants to do, kill an innocent. He is sent to retrieve one of the most important reincarnated angels to hit the earth, Amira. Along the way his target, Kaylee, bumps into him unexpectedly and an instant attraction happens. Nathan struggles to fulfill his duty to the innocent humans without killing Kaylee who is unwittingly hosting a demon no one has seen before, the Shadowman. Nathan can't help but feel something is missing from the puzzle, and Amira, who is sworn to secrecy, isn't filling in the holes. Nathan is now struggling to connect the dots between Kaylee and Amira, while battling his attraction and protecting Amira from the Shadowman. Nathan calls on his former mentor, Troy, who is set on killing himself, despite his inability to do so, to protect Amira. Together Troy and Amira put more pieces of the puzzle together and Troy is finding a reason to live again. Meanwhile, Nathan is now struggling to find an alternative to killing Kaylee and there are two separate factions trying to get Kaylee for there own reasons. Overall, this is a very suspenseful, well thought out book with enough twists and turns to keep you interested without overloading the story line.
Hear No was filled with so many sorts of supernatural beings, some killer Mystery, Violence & even Incredibly Hot Sex Scenes! Yay!
It left me breathless & desperate to tell you all the intriguing & awesome details!...but this is defiantly one of those novels the less you know the better, so im going to keep it short...
Spirt Advisor Nathan , has spent the last 3,000 years taking care of reincarnated angels & cleaning up supernatural messes, His Cocky yet Charming & oh lord is he Hot!!
Kaylee is a seemly ordinary young woman, over worked in her job as an attorney her mind starts to plays tricks on her & makes her feel as tho she is being followed by a presence which she calls "shadow man", Which is terrifying enough. but when she meets the mysterious nathan & finds out the Shadowman is actually real, and is on earth to help the apocalypse she finds out what real terror is.
Kaylee will have to put her faith in a man she barely knows (but who makes her body light when ever his around) with to save not only her Fate but the fate of the Whole world!
It was Dark & Edgy yet Humorous & Romantic & oh so Sinfully good! There were a few spelling mistakes that kinda irritated me but that's about the only flaw, so I'd defiantly recommend it any fan of Lizzy or anyone who hasn't ever read a Lizzy Ford Book because I'm sure you'll love it!
I received this as a advanced reader copy for an honest review.
Well here goes, I thought that this was a very interesting take on angels, fallen angels, and protectors. Normally when we read about them they are either angels that are protecting people or the fight about angels and demons. But in a world where angels can choose to become human and have assigned people to guide them and the bad of all bad demons in ghost form trying to find a way to come to the other side.
Nathan is a Guide that helps angels that have chosen to become mortal and he ends up becoming responsible to take care of Amira who is a deaf First generation reincarnated angel (meaning first life after choosing to become mortal)who is in charge of protecting the portal for the demons to become whole and come to the other side. (yep I just said all of that) We follow them as Nathan tries to keep Amira safe and brings in more people to help and people who play a large role in keeping the portal safe. We find out that the angels are not the only people who want Amira and the other portal holders. Sorry as I always say that I don't give out spoilers and it is hard to give anymore information without starting to spill it.
Overall this was a good book and I am excited to read the next book in the series to see where it leads to. Enjoy and Happy reading!
This feels like a very different genre for author Lizzy Ford, but it still holds all the characteristic charm she has a knack for infusing into her books. Romance flows through without being an erotic novel. Lizzy has started a trilogy here that puts a new twist on the Biblical prophecies of the four horsemen.
I wouldn't consider this my favorite of Lizzy Ford's books, but that won't stop me from reading it. I did find it a little confusing initially to figure out who's who and what the storyline was exactly but by the end of the book I feel like I have a better understanding. The story jumps you right into the action without too much chance for character development; I'm sure it's a hard thing to do though. Some books work best that way, and others work best with a slower start. This was probably the best start for this type of story.
The characters are a little confusing with the whole first-gen and so on of reincarnated angels. I still don't fully understand it even after the first book being over and I'm thinking it may or may not be something that is further developed. I think it's just gonna be one of those story quirks that one just needs to accept and try to understand as best as one can.
If you like a quick moving, action filled paranormal novel, this is a great fit! You jump straight into plot development right from the very first page so it's definitely an exciting read. The characters each have their own distinguished personalities and you either love them or you hate them.
It was slightly weird for me to read a book about angels and demons and to learn that Nathan and Kaylee are, in essence, "good" but that they do bad things, curse, and have hot, unprotected sex. I'm just having a hard time connecting the "heavenly being" part and the "crude" part but hey, that's my issue.
I think the downside to this book is that it's actually a smidge too fast paced. I felt as if I was rushing through the story but I think it would have been better if this novel ended further along in the plot than where it actually ended. There are two more books in the series but I kind of wish there were only two books total because I'd like some of my questions to be answered rather than coming up with new questions for the next two.
I give this book 4.5 stars because the writing and storyline is good other than some editing misses.
So this was the first book I've read by Lizzy Ford. Apparently, she's some hot shot when it comes to the PNR/UF genre? The writing was nice, so I might try another series, although I wasn't too stoked about Hear no.
The premise was great. The story was original with an elaborate world building, there were quite a few likable, albeit mostly rather shallow side characters, and I enjoyed two of the three main characters, namely Kaylee and Amira. The overall pacing was good, and I loved the idea of adding the POV of someone who was not one of the two main love interests. What kind of ruined it a bit for me was the hero, Nathan. He was an arrogant prick and I just couldn't bring myself to root for him. I mean, the fact that I found some satanistic, ruthless assassin far more charming than the actual "hero" says enough.
I don't think I'll continue with this series. I didn't like where the ending left us and the prospect of what is about to happen in the next installment. Actually, I don't even know if there will be a sequel at all (even though the series is called Hidden Evil Trilogy), since this book was published in 2013 and there isn't any information on a follow-up. I guess we'll see.
This book was very original and engrossing. The world is ours but with special inhabitants both dark and light. Between Spirit Guides and Incarnated Angels ..Satanists and Arch Demons ... the characters are unforgettable and unique. Too many writers today are lazy and don't even try to come up with original and thought out plots but no one can say that about Lizzy Ford! Every undertaking she starts is more original than the next :)
There are many facets to this book I never imagined. The thought that Angels decide to be born as human and help the inhabitants on Earth have better lives and a better world is a great idea to base a series on. The thought that certain human warriors become the immortal spiritual guardians of these incarnated angels is also another unique layer to this series.
Threats are around every corner and the suspense is palpable. There is action and adventure in abundance ... you never know who to trust or where to turn. The fact that the incarnated angel is deaf totally fits the title of the book and is almost poetic. I really enjoyed this book and can't wait for the series to continue!
