The definitions are not all up-to-date for the year this big volume was published (2003); Greece is mentioned as "a kingdom in SE Europe" which ceased to be with the referendum of 1974. However, the breadth (and depth!) of coverage of around 200,000 key terms is astounding. In retrospect, I wanted this book instead, but bought the Penguin Factfinder first, which is complementary to this one, but also not exactly what I wanted (I guess I wanted a single-volume lexicon/encyclopedia).
