thorns is a sequence of poems drawing on the symbol of the thorn, inspired by the 7th Century legend King Suibhne. Each of the poems is hand-drawn by the author. The cover bears an impression of a thorn.

Alec Finlay (b. 1960) is a Scottish poet and artist whose work crosses over a range of media and forms. In 2020 he received a Cholmondeley Award for services to poetry.
