My newest Slightly Foxed Editions story. This was one of the best WW2 accounts that I have ever read. It was fairly short, easy to read and full of raw human emotion. It was so moving and will stay with me for a long time. As a nurse trained in the early 1980s, I was familiar with Pam’s ‘old school’ nursing and it was comforting to read the care and professionalism that she showed to her patients. To have an account of the brutal consequences of war from the female perspective is quite unique and I wish that it was more widely known about.
I saw in the news that a new film about Pamela’s sister Joan Bright is coming out soon, with Jenna Coleman playing Joan ; what a powerful pair of women!
