Life and Love on the Lam #3

Tangled Thing Called Love

Rate this book
Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum has Ranger and Joe. Now Juliet Rosetti keeps readers swooning with Mazie Maguire and her hot-to-trot boy toy, Ben Labeck.

Mazie’s boyfriend—photojournalist and sex god Ben Labeck—might be trouble on two very strong, very sexy legs, but he’s got no idea what he’s signing up for when he invites himself along to the family farm in Quail Hollow to meet the Maguires. Mazie knows that bringing a guy home is a recipe for disaster, especially when she’s not sure whether their relationship is serious or just seriously steamy. That goes double when she finds herself reluctantly squeezing back into a bikini and sash for the anniversary of a supposedly cursed local beauty pageant.

All this is wreaking havoc on Mazie’s love life. Suddenly Ben’s too busy playing gentleman farmer on the Maguire estate to indulge in a more discreet kind of play in Mazie’s bed. And when he’s not tilling the soil, he’s digging up dirt on the Curse of Miss Quail Hollow. Maybe that swimsuit competition isn’t such a bad way to get Ben’s attention back where it belongs—and get him to admit that he’s head-over-heels in love with her.

Life and Love on the Lam is Stephanie Plum minus the annoying love triangle. Really enjoyable and the slightly over-the-top situations Mazie gets into just hilarious.

Damn, this book was so hilarious, and I couldn't put the book down, I read it in one sitting. Well I always read a book in one sitting. Ben that boy is all sorts of horny when Mazie wears certain things, "she wore ragged cut off jeans and a sleeveless pink shirt was clutching a big bunch of radishes. She was barefoot, and even across the room Ben could see her nipples through the fabric of her shirt. No bra! The message shot straight from his brain to his gonads." Ben is learning a few things about Mazie while in her hometown, "because you never said you wanted to. Okay, so you want to dance, I'll take you dancing." Being around Mazie brings out a lot of dirty thoughts in Ben, "her skirt hiked up and he wondered whether she was wearing panties underneath. He was becoming aroused. Very aroused, very hard, and very damn frustrated because it had been a long time since he'd made love to this woman." Ben has to come up with appropriate responses to embarrassing moments when Mazie's nephews are around.
ihh...Aunt Mazie had a mosquito bite where she couldn't reach," Ben said. "I was helping her scratch the itch." When these two are angry at each other they sure know how to give nastiness but don't know how to take it, "really? I'm not the one who just zipped his shirttail into his fly." All Ben really wants is a little loving, "mmm,"Ben moaned. "That feels fabulous. I think I got some nettles in my groin area. Yeah, I'm pretty sure my groan is nettled, Mazie, could you-" I really loved this book.

Tangled Thing Called Love ( Life and Love on the Lam #3) by Juliet Rosetti is a 2014 Loveswept publication. I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

As usual for Mazie, life has thrown her another curve ball. Ben went off to L.A. to pursue his dreams of being a big time photojournalist. The longer he is away the fewer the calls and emails become until one day Mazie calls Ben only to have another woman answer the phone. To top it all off, Mazie loses another job. What to do next? Well, Mazie heads back to her family farm in Quail Hallow. Her grandmother has been put in charge of her twin grandsons while their mom and dad await the arrival of another child. Little does Mazie know that Ben is hot on her trail and it's a big surprise when he shows up at the farm.
When talk of a local girl that went missing many years ago and was never heard from again, gets Ben's attention, he decides that while he is here on the farm he may as well do a little investigating into the cold case. Meanwhile Mazie finds herself entering a beauty pageant that is allegedly cursed.
Maize and Ben are always on a different page in their lives, but somehow they can't seem to stay away from one another. Ben has been surrounded by starlets and Mazie is convinced he cheated on her, but she can't deny they still have a physical attraction that is hard to pass up. Ben has Mazie tempted to give in to his repeated sexual advances despite the emotional issues that came between them. However, the case Ben and Mazie decided to look into and the twins keep Ben and Mazie too busy to get their relationship issues resolved.
This is another wonderfully hilarious installment in the life and times of Mazie McGuire. Ben gets a chance to meet some of Mazie's relatives, live life on a farm, and help solve a cold case. Mazie is being sabatoged repeatedly when she finally gets clearance to compete in the Quail Hollow beauty pageant. Someone is trying to make sure she doesn't have a change to win. This leads to Mazie getting an orange tan and many other catastophes.
The banter between Mazie and Ben is still sharp and witty, the twins were all boy and a handful but they were also fun to be around, especially for Ben, who decided that he and Mazie would have girls... LOL!
All is well that ends well and it looks as if Mazie and Ben are back on solid ground...at least for now!
I love this series !!

Mazie and Ben are at it again, proving that the course of true love never does run smooth, especially when it involves a disappearing beauty queen, two holy terrors with a potato gun, and the coolest grandmother ever to grace a farm.
Now back in her hometown and tasked with babysitting her nephews, Mazie doesn’t expect her maybe sometimes sort of boyfriend Ben to show up at the door. He’s determined to win her back, even if he’s not entirely sure why he lost her in the first place, but nothing with Mazie is ever simple or easy. In fact, it’s about to get crazy in the best possible way.

The Verdict:
If ever I was in love with a series… I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this book, though I’m a more than a little pissed that I didn’t come across the chance for an ARC to read before the release date. Thank God for Amazon pre-orders.

Mazie’s life hasn’t ceased to be an absolutely wild adventure. With prison behind her and a stay out in her podunk hometown ahead of her, you’d think she wouldn’t be a trouble magnet. But then again, that just wouldn’t be Mazie. From her crazy nephews to the catty pageant queens to the werewolf attack (yes, werewolf, though nothing about the story is supernatural), I loved every second of it. Laugh out loud funny, crazy suspenseful, and 100% sexy, the delivery is flawless, and quirky, clumsy Mazie is just as loveable and entertaining as always. The clever mystery wrapped up in an absolutely insane small town beauty pageant is beyond brilliant, and while I’d normally be rolling my eyes at a couple who can’t seem to get their relationship straight after two previous books, there’s something delightful in the awful communication skills Ben and Mazie have.

I can’t even explain how much I love Mazie and her crazy adventures. Even the scenes that should be terrifying are simply hilarious, infused with a fantastic sense of humor that only Juliet Rosetti can pull off so perfectly! So yes, if you enjoy reading at all, want something fun and quirky and romantic, and are looking for a lighthearted, quick read, you just have to pick up this series.

It's official! Juliet Rosetti is going on my list of favorite authors!

Once again, Mazie and her antics, and quick wit, had me laughing until I was crying. In this one, Mazie goes home to Quail Hollow to help her brother with his kids while his wife has their new baby. And what do you know? Ben Labeck follows her there and they end up with a 13 year old murder mystery to solve. Oh! And let's not forget that Ben and Mazie have some relationship issues to work on.

While I like Ben, I loved the introduction of Johnny Hoolihan. I'm not a fan of love triangles, but I almost like Johnny and Mazie more than Ben and Mazie. There's something about Ben that slightly irritates me. I haven't quite put my finger on what it is. Maybe it's the fact that he's "so sexy" and I think he knows Mazie feels that way, so kind of exploits it to get his way. I'll figure it out what my problem with him is eventually.

Once again, you don't need to read the previous books in the series to follow along. However, reading them gives you a deeper understanding of Mazie and Ben. This is a series I highly recommend!

This book was hilarious. Mazie has to go to her home town of Quail Hollow to take care of her nephews. While there, she gets involved in a beauty pageant and the mystery of what happened to a missing beauty queen. The mystery itself was really good and I found myself really interested into what happened to Fern. Mazie was her usual funny self but when paired up with her old friend Holly it was downright hilarious and laugh-out-loud funny. I think this book had a lot more romance than the previous two books in the series and I really enjoyed that. I also really enjoyed Johnny Hoolihan and hope maybe he makes an appearance in the next book. Overall I really enjoyed this book, it was a good mixture of mystery, suspense, romance and humor.

Unfortunately, I wasn't really hooked to the story and the mystery in it about Fawn's death and the "curse". It was okay for me but it wasn't amazing. But even if I wasn't excited that much when reading this book, it was entertaining and I could see why people could find it funny. There were moments really nice especially with the twins Sam and Joey; they were cute little devils.

I wish Mazie had started something with Hoolihan. I was more interested in him than Ben and I thought they had chemistry like in the bar when they were dancing, but the end let us thought there will be a next book, so maybe then?

Arc provided by Loveswept via Netgalley for an honest review!

This is the first book I have read by Juliet Rossetti ; and I i found it to be a Light and easy read, with some incredibly humorous moments.
Mazie Maguire seems to have a knack for getting herself into trouble and luckily for her she has a very hunky boyfreind in Ben Labeck who seems to be there to rescue her!

Mazie, has gone home to Quail Hollow to help out with her twin nephews , while her sister in law is in th hospital on bed rest awaiting a c - section . Given that she just lost her job , and her boyfreind Ben has been in California trying to move foward with his career;and Mazie is happy for him, but the calls and the emails are less and less and she figures it is over between them when she calls and some women answers the phone.Mazie is happy to be home and settling in but it does no seem to be helping with taking her mind off Ben. Coincidently Ben is having similar issues and tracks Mazie down in Quail hollow , he misses her and he wants to talk through the issues.

It is soon after arriving home that the incidents start happening to Mazie, first she is run off the road while biking into town , though the upside she winds up in a bar, drinking and dancing with an old friend afterwood ; Hoolihan is intrested in her and drives her and the damaged bike home, earning himself a bucketful off dirty looks from Ben , and lots of posturing between these two.
After discussing the quail hollow pageant and the town looking for Mazie to compete in the 25 th anniversary since she won in high school the talk of the pageant curse brings to Ben's attention Fawn Fancheon's disappearance after winning the year that she competed to Ben's attention, he wants to do a documentary about it! Which seems to set in motion more attempts on Mazies life only just to add to hazing amongst the ranks of the pageant contestants.
( huge kudos' to the author , she absolutely caught the catty, snooty nastiness that you find in competitions like this perfectly!) all of which come together to create some very funny scenes; yes funny even during the attempted murder scenes , her choice of murder together with setting clothing and resolution leave you with a rather funny image in your mind.

I did expect more romantic situations throughout the book between her and Ben, but the ones you do get fitbthevstory well!
I enjoyed this story and do want to go back and read the first two books in the series, I think I may find them just as light an enjoyable as this one. And will probably give me more of a Mazie. And Ben background , like thesecharacters enough that I want more!
Do not think that this an no be read as a stand alone because it can , Ms Rossetti , gives you enough backround to work with and just enough to peak your curiosity of the previous intricacies of Maxie life in prior books!

* I received an advanced readers copy of this book from Random House Publishing Group- Loveswept via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!*

I have to start out by saying that this is book 3 in the Life and Love on the Lam series which I did not know when I first received the book. I was worried that I would not be able to follow along and that it would affect my enjoyment but that was not the case. There were plenty of references and explanations about Mazie's history that it did not interfere with the story. It did however make me curious and want to go back and read the first two books in the series.

This book was a fun, easy read with plenty of hilarious moments that had me laughing out loud. Mazie was a strong, quirky personality that trouble seemed to follow around every corner. I adored her and her thought process and somewhat questionable actions throughout the story. I also adored hunky Ben and his fun loving and sweet ways. Although I could feel their connection I do feel like it would have been stronger if I had read the first two books first. Having said that, I was routing for them the whole way. One minor thing that slightly irritated me was that almost every time Ben was mentioned in the book he was mentioned as Ben Labeck. After the first couple of times I felt like the last name could have been dropped.

I have to give props for the way Rosetti pens the beauty pageant and the actions and behaviours of all of the women. She was spot on with her interpretation of how girls in competition act and how the women regressed to caddy teenage antics was hilarious. It was so reminiscent of high school which is what I think she was trying to accomplish.

As far as the mystery surrounding the curse of Miss Quail Hollow and the disappearance of Fawn years early, it wasn't very hard to figure out. I guessed fairly early in the story who was involved and what had happened. It in no way took away from my enjoyment because the characters more than made up for it.

I rated this book on the pure entertainment I got from reading it. It is not very often that a book makes me laugh out loud and this one did. I loved the characters and the authors style of writing and will be checking out her other work as well as the rest of the books in this series.

4 stars. Fun, funny, romantic mystery with similar heart as Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series.

Full Review:
Note: I received an eARC of this title from the from the publisher for my honest review. This in no way affected my opinion in my review.

Juliet Rosetti has done it again. In Tangled Thing Called Love, there’s many laughs, a fun romance, and some amateur sleuthing. Juliet Rosetti has Mazie stumbling her way through a 13 year old disappearance case, babysitting her nephews, competing in a pageant, and fending off (but not really fending off) her possibly ex-but-not-ex boyfriend, Ben, that’s come back after a short stay in LA.

So the romance. Mazie and Ben are obviously in love, but like the previous books, their lack of communication is really the source of their on-again, off-again status. I love it because it calls for some funny moments, and they also have some really great, sweet moments. A few times though, it did have me rolling my eyes wanting them to act a bit more mature.

The mystery itself was a bit predictable. The who did it was easy. The how, I didn’t quite guess. Regardless, Mazie still managed to get herself in some tight situations. The bad boy turned police chief with a romantic interest in Mazie also added to the fun, but I also got a bit confused with his intentions at times… Does he acknowledge Ben as Mazie’s boy friend? Does he not? Quite confusing.

What I really loved about this installment, in particular, was the fact that Mazie was back in her hometown. Boy, did it add to the fun! I adored Mazie’s grandmother and her good friend Holly. They were so supportive and also the cause of some of the mayhem. My goodness though, all that pageant drama felt like immature high school drama but with a murder mystery mixed in.

I highly suggest anyone that enjoys fun, funny, romantic mysteries, similar in heart to Janet Evanovich’s work, to check out Juliet Rosetti’s Tangled Thing Called Love. 4 stars overall. I definitely enjoyed this read!

The author provided me with a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

'Tangled Thing Called Love' was a difficult book to rate.
You either loved it or hated it, I went with love.

Juliet Rosetti made all characters in the book to be very interesting and different, the plot was sometimes a little bit hard to follow, but all in one very interesting and you had the chance to find out yourself who was responsible for Miss Quail Hollow 2001's death.

It was mysterious, and warm. The characters made you their friend while reading and you could relate to many of them as the story went along.

I had many situations where I laughed out loud and bystanders looked at me as if I was crazy. Other times I was so deep in the story that I didn't even realize that the food was boiling over or the doorbell rang.

The hero and heroine, Bonaparte 'Ben' Labeck and Marguerite 'Mazie' Maguire made a lovely couple, while they found their place with each other, they also looked into a murder, made a documentation, survived several attacks together and I think that with every day and everything happening around them, they fell in love all over again.

One of the best things, though, or two best things, were The Twins, Sam and Joey, the boys definitely enjoyed bringing loud noises with their experiments and a lot of anger and love into the family's life.

I enjoyed this book with all its Tangled Things and mysteries.

It's a definite Must-Read for everyone who enjoys love coupled with mystery and some crime!

I was given this book through Netgalley for an honest review.

Tangled Thing Called Love is the latest adventure of ex-con Mazie Maguire and Bonaparte (Ben) Labeck. I really enjoyed this story which takes place in Mazie's hometown where she arrives to help take care of her twin 10 year old nephews while her sister in law is in the hospital on bed rest during the last weeks of her pregnancy. Ben arrives after his job in California turns out to not be perfect and spends most of the book trying to win back Mazie and investigating a decade old crime. As usual when these two are together there are many moments of hilarity, some sexy fun, and of course they wind up in some trouble on more than one occasion. As always Mazie is scattered but never loses her sense of humor and often speaks without considering what she's saying or who might be around to hear. Ben is as level headed as ever and he's also determined to remind Mazie how could they can be together. Maize's grandmother, brother, nephews and old friends round out the cast and add quite a bit of fun and humor to an already full story.

I can't help but enjoy this series because the characters are just so likeable and their adventures always turn into something much bigger than either one expected. Tangled Thing Called Love is a great addition to this engaging series.

More Mazie and Ben...I couldn't be happier! If you aren't snorting in laughter after the first few pages...you should go to a doctor, because something is definitely wrong with you. Mazie is this gorgeous, funny, spirited Midwestern gal who seems to attract trouble like a magnet. If you've enjoyed the Stephanie Plum novels by Janet Evanovich, you will probably enjoy this series; however, Mazie is far less incompetent and she has the guy...she just had trouble staying in a relationship with him. But how fun is it to watch them make up?!?! This story takes us back to Mazie's hometown so that she can watch her nephews while her sister-in-law has her baby. What could possibly go wrong? Enter the Beauty Pageant from hell. Surprise, surprise...Mazie is a former beauty queen. We also learn that the winners appear to be cursed and one girl went missing and was never found...so what happened? Enter super sleuth Mazie and her incredibly sexy on-again, off-again boyfriend, Ben to solve the mystery. The book is funny in all of the right places, with just enough steam and heat to keep the romance reader in me happy. The plot was unique and clever and the book was a page turner to the end. I have really come to enjoy this series and hope there will be more adventures for Mazie in the future.

I need to preface this review by saying Juliet Rosetti is quickly working her way into my favorite Top 5 author category!! In this 3rd installment of Mazie’s crazy life we get to follow Mazie home to her family farm, what ensues is hilarious and suspenseful. Of course we get Mr Ben Labeck back for the shenanigans and we watch him and Mazie try to untangle a disappearance of a young girl from 13 yrs prior. I don’t want to spoil the book, but there is plenty of Ben and Mazie hotness, plus a new male who while I am personally not a fan of the love triangle had me feeling like it wouldn’t be so bad. Mazie’s family is just as crazy and fun as she is and Muffin brings plenty of excitement too. I honestly love this series and I cannot wait to see what kind of adventure the Mazie & Ben duo find themselves in next. Ms Rosetti has managed to write a third book that is just as addicting as her first in the series, written wonderfully with plenty of laugh out loud moments, romance, and suspense. This series and this book should be on everyone’s to read list!

Tangled Thing Called Love by Juliet Rosetti was a nice surprise. I rated it a 5 because it had a little of everything I love: smart heroine, sexy hero, romance, humor, and a mystery to solve. This author does it all. There’s plenty of steamy romance and Mazie and her family’s antics made me laugh…Out Loud!
With Ben long gone to work in LA and Mazie losing her job, there is nothing for her to do but go back home to help at the farm. Her grandmother is taking care of the twins while her brother’s wife is in the hospital waiting to have another baby. Ben returns to show Mazie he loves her. He is a photojournalist and sees a story in the missing beauty pageant winner from long ago. Mazie is just trying to keep up with the mischievous twins and dealing with bitchy beauty queens at the 25th anniversary pageant her grandmother signs her up for. I recommend this book to everyone. I did not know this book is the third in a series, but really happy to discover that there are at least two more for me to read. Juliet Rosetti is now on my favorite authors list.

I didn't know that Tangled Thing Called Love is the third book in a series about Mazie and Ben. Sometimes I felt it that I've missed something, but it can be read without the first two.

Mazie’s boyfriend—photojournalist and sex god Ben Labeck—might be trouble on two very strong, very sexy legs, but he’s got no idea what he’s signing up for when he invites himself along to the family farm in Quail Hollow to meet the Maguires.

Mazie is a strong girl, I loved her character, and I really wanted her to find the HEA with Ben.
I loved her family, it's a sweet and funny reading.

The mystery around Fawn, who disappeared was intresting. I couldn't figure out the whole truth until the end. It was my first book from Juliet Rosetti but I think I will read more, maybe the first two part of the story cause I liked it.

Maybe that swimsuit competition isn’t such a bad way to get Ben’s attention back where it belongs—and get him to admit that he’s head-over-heels in love with her.

This review pertains to Tangled Thing Called Love by Juliet Rosetti. Thank you to Random House and Netgalley for the chance to read and review. When I first started this book, I hadn't realized it was part of a series. Although it could be read as a standalone, I put it down and went and read the first two of the series. With that in mind, I absolutely LOVED this book and series, This book was hilarious, and i was quite often literally laughing out loud. The chemistry between Mazie and Ben is scorching and the secondary characters in this were extremely well done. There was nothing I didn't like about this book, and I highly recommend this book, series and author to all romance readers. Extremely well done and I look forward to more from Juliet Rosetti

Tangled Thing Called Love By Juliet Rosetti

Mazie Maguire returns to her hometown of Quail Hollow. Her sister Emily had asked her to help out their Grandmother with caring for Mazie's nephews, twin boys while Emily is in the hospital. One afternoon, Mazie gets a surprise visit from Ben Labeck. Ben's sudden visit does more than get Mazie's emotions stirred up. His interest in a disappearance case that has been unsolved for thirteen years causes ripples in the small town.

I really enjoyed this book. The story is well written and I laughed out loud off and on through out the story.

Tangled Thing Called Love is the 3rd book in a series featuring Mazie and Ben. Mazie's a cute, resourceful fearless heroine: Ben is her gorgeous, nice, sexy boyfriend.

Juliet Rosetti's given Mazie a circle of kooky friends and relatives and added a murder or two for suspense and spice.

I received this book as an ARC in exchange for writing an honest review - and haven't read book 1 and 2 yet, but intend to now. Tangled Thing Called Love has been so much fun I look forward to reading the earlier books.

I received this book from Netgalley for an honest review. I really enjoyed this book. The characters were great, the pacing good, great setting. An all around enjoyable story. Some things I thought were too obvious, or I just gave Mazie credit for being smarter than she is. I never would have left the dress there. It was too obvious that something would happen. I really thought she'd be too smart to get the truck alone, too. Of course, these things led to more humor and it was a fun book. I look forward to finding the rest of the books in the series.

It's another hilarious adventure when Maize goes home to the farm! Trouble can find this character no matter what and it makes for a very entertaining read. The writing keeps the story moving along and the zany cast of characters are incredibly entertaining. For a fun light hearted read I recommend this one.

From time to time I'm gifted with or directed to something "I had better read", so I do and am usually rewarded. That's how I was introduced to Tony Hillerman and the Navaho Tribal Police series. The Mazie Maguire mysteries by Juliet Rosetti is in that category too; the original hook for me was that the stories took place in Wisconsin.
I survived childhood in a farming community near Green Bay. A cousin owned a bar in Sheboygan. Going to Milwaukee was a big event. On holidays while travelling to relatives, I drove past Taycheeda Prison in Fon du Lac a hundred times. That's where the heroine, Mazie Maguire, is serving time after being framed and convicted for murder. In the series opening, she's sprung by a passing tornado and tours the scenic kettle moraine country while making her way to Milwaukee. Evading capture by multiple law enforcement agencies Mazie becomes a folk hero and is offered help along the way, in particular critical evidence of her innocence by a TV cameraman, Ben. This turns into a partnership of sorts, and also into a romance that twists through the series. The first book runs around the state's eastern countryside and Milwaukee; later books include a 'Sconnie Generic Park with Lake, and a farm town. My favorite story is that book, set in coulee country in the unglaciated southwestern part of Wisconsin; coulees are narrow, deep, and mostly wooded valleys that wind for miles, which makes for a very creepy background in a twenty year old unsolved disappearance and probable murder, and for an attempted reenactment starring Mazie.
All the books are action mysteries, where the heroine not only has to solve the main problem but must avoid being murdered herself. The chapters are short and intense. There are chase scenes with unusual and memorable escapes. There are actual villains, and generally a great cast of well-made characters, some of whom one wishes to drown, others to nominate for a Nobel. There's also a cute, smart dog.
I came for the scenery but stayed for the entertainment.

In Tangled Thing called Love by Juliet Rosetti, Mazie has been having trouble getting in touch with Ben since he left for LA to become a big time photojournalist. As time goes by, the fewer his calls and emails to her. Until one day Mazie decides to call him only to have a woman answer his phone. To make matters worst for her, she just lost another job.

So Mazie decides to go home to Quail Hollow to help with her nephews while he and his wife have their new baby. Her grandmother has been left in charge of the twins while they await the arrival of the new baby, but now Mazie would help her. Little does she know that Ben has invited himself along to the family farm and is surprised when he shows up at the farm.

When Ben hears of a cold case of a local girl that went missing many years ago. So while there he decides to do a little investigating of his own into the cold case. In the meantime, Mazie finds herself entering a beauty pageant that is allegedly cursed.

Mazie and Ben have not had an easy relationship so far, and now is no different. Mazie believes that Ben cheated on her with Hollywood starlets he was surrounded by. Regardless of that, she cannot deny her attraction towards him, which he always tries to use to get her back with sexual advances. But unless they get a chance to talk things through and clear things out, they will continue having problems in their relationship.

In this latest installment of Life on the Lam, Mazie and Ben will continue entertaining you with witty and sharp banter. Not to mention that her nephews were fun to be around but such a handful that led to Ben deciding that he and Mazie would have girls. And then there is the sabotage against Mazie during the beauty pageant so she doesn’t win, and her orange tan and other catastrophes that will have you laughing and loving all the trouble Mazie and Ben will get into while in Quail Hollow.

If you want a fun and entertaining read that will have you laughing out loud, don’t miss Tangled Thing called Love by Juliet Rosetti.

#3 in the Life and Love on the Lam series

This is such a fun series! Mazie is a wonderful main character. After having been in prison after being falsely framed, she's learned how to survive, but she has a great sense of the ridiculous and lots of basic common sense. When she returns to her small hometown to help babysit her brother's wild twin boys while their mother's on bed rest, she is guilted into participating in a special former queens version of the local Miss Quail Hollow pageant. Far from a pageant-type personality, she gets herself into crazy situations (We revisit with her wonderful friend Magenta plus there are ingenious and hilarious solutions when there are several "accidents" throughout the process.) Even though they're "on a break," main squeeze Ben Labeck shows up to rekindle their relationship. While he's there he decides to do an investigative story about a missing Miss Quail Hollow from years ago. As they work together, they find their attraction flaring up again. This complicated, however, by the police chief, an attractive man from Mazie's high school past. I love Rosetti's writing. She uses such clever turns of phrase, sets up such hilarious situations that come about seemingly accidentally but naturally, and I found myself laughing throughout. The main characters are very appealing, and secondary characters such as the twins, other Miss Quail Hollow contestants, and even the hospital doctor, are all so funny and support the feeling of fun and humor. I look forward to continuing with the next (and final) book in this series right away.

Tangled Thing Called Love is the third in the series, and while I knew that going in, I didn’t realize it was a continuation of the two character’s lives from the previous story. The cover image on this book and not yet released fourth book are the same couple, while the second book shows a different couple. I would strongly suggest reading from the start of the series. While this story was written to give you background on their situation, I didn’t really feel that connection to Mazie or Ben from it, whereas I did like Johnny Hoolihan who we are newly introduced too. And it wasn’t until the end that Mazie and Ben started growing on me.

There are some funny parts in the story, and it was entertaining, but I didn’t get hooked into the storyline. But overall I liked the book, and I would be interested in seeing what other crazy situations Mazie gets herself into.

This is the first book I have read by this author. This was a completely feel good, enjoyable story. The characters were realistic and likeable. Even though Ben was voted the Sexiest Man Alive, he did not let it go to his head. He stayed the same loveable character who continued to love Mazie and risk his life for her. He was always there to get her out of the troubles she seemed to get herself into. Mazie was a strong character and was able to take care of herself. Even though Mazie and Ben had a “break” they still stayed true to each other. I was not aware this was the 4th book in the series and had not read and any of them, yet I was still able to connect with the characters. Knowing there are three other books in this series makes me want to go back and see how this all started. I enjoyed this book and will continue to read more by this author.
