Erotic Cowboy Ménage a Quatre Romance, M/F/M/M, light foot fetish, spanking, sex toys, HEA]
Maizy Owen is living her dream, working as a kindergarten teacher. Her profession gives her purpose, but her personal life is another story. Recently rejected by her fiancé, Maizy struggles to hide a part of her nature that she longs to freely express.
Cody Welsh , Heath Lindsey, and Spencer Ketchum, affectionately known to their friends as “the bears,” have been searching for the mysterious belly dancer who laid claim to their hearts nearly a year ago. Their paths cross on a rainy morning when Spencer can’t take his eyes off of a bubbly, dark-haired beauty with an unconscious urge to dance.
Far from overwhelmed by the bear’s immense combined presence, Maizy finds comfort and acceptance in their arms. They set out to discover if their growing bond can thrive, realizing her dream job may be jeopardized. Thanks to the gossip mill in Divine, it quickly becomes clear that Maizy has a choice to make. Keep her job or lose the men she loves.
Heather Rainier lives and writes in South Central Texas. Her stories offer up the content of her fantasies, with humor, tragedy, and triumph mixed in.
Heather's love of romance fiction began as a teenager when her mom gave her copies of Kathleen Woodiwiss's "The Flame and the Flower" and Bertrice Small's "Skye O'Malley". To this day she's pretty sure that was her mom's version of the "birds and the bees" talk.
Heather writes the type of novel she loves to read: More erotic and edgy than the mainstream, with plenty of sweet romance mixed in and a happily ever after guaranteed. Heather's favorite type of hero is the gentle, lovable giant but readers will discover a wide variety of heroes and alphas on the pages of her novels.
When not at her keyboard, Heather is usually busy corralling her teenagers, or loving on her smokin' hot husband, who thankfully loves to cook.
Heather invites readers to e-mail her at heather.rainier@yahoo.com and also to visit her website at www.heatherrainier.com
The beginning of this novel didn't really appeal to me as it felt kind of stalkery- three guys building a house for a woman they were 'in love' with whom they hadn't even met personally yet? The cynic was a little bit creeped out. But as the story progressed, I found myself really enjoying all of the characters. It's about three guys- Cody, Spencer and Heath- seeking out and wooing Maizy, a woman they saw belly dancing in a club a year earlier (hence the initial stalkery feeling). I really liked Maizy. A voluptuous, short, independent woman with crazy hair who at accepts being spoiled by her 'bears', but at the same time, doesn't let them push her around. All the bears endeared themselves to me as well. Mostly especially Spencer, who is so incredibly thoughtful throughout (the rose garden scene? Swoon!). Also Heath- I love a guy with a sense of humour. I didn't feel like we got to know Cody very well apart from him being the bossy leader of the group. I would've like to have learned more about him as a character.
All in all, it was a good story and I give it 4 stars.
Sometimes a girl has to satisfy her ménage cravings. And damn did Heather Rainier's Divine Creek Ranch series hit all the right spot! I found out about her books through the Curvy Girl Romance group and I was hooked. After all, which women wouldn't like two men or more showering her with attention?
The first thing that caught my attention was the title "Maizy The Bear Charmer". Did you say bear? I'm all up for some bear. 3 gorgeous bears? Bring it on girl! I like how Rainier mixed up the personalities of the guys giving us a variety.
She let out a long, happy sigh and smiled when she felt his warm lips on the top of her head. She felt positively tiny wrapped up in his arms. Swaying with him, she could feel the solid strength in his muscular thighs and the sizable bulge at his groin.
She looked up at him but couldn't speak as he gazed into her eyes and finally said, "Keep looking at me like that and I'm going to kiss you. I don't care what Cody says."
In this book, we have "Happy Bear", "Grumpy Bear" and "Honey Bear". All perfect, charming and amazing in their own ways. I loved how determined they were to find their mysterious belly dancer. Maizy's sweet and kind yet knows when to stand her ground when it comes to it. I love it when she lets her naughty side out to play and prod the bears ;)
He watched her with glittering eyes as he chewed slowly, as if enjoying every flavor, every texture, every taste, much like how he made love. Excitement soared inside her as he lifted his beer to his lips, took a sip, and then quietly said, "Run."
As if it was controlled by someone else, her body slowly, seductively slid from her seat, giving him a teasing peek of her pussy, as she watched him for the slightest hint of movement. He set his beer down and rose from his seat. She squealed and made like an antelope across the living room, leaping to the love seat and hurdling it in her bid for the hallway.
She knew he was a hair's breadth behind her by his deep chuckle at her gutsy move as she raced down the hallway to the master bedroom. He was so close she could sense his heath and hear his breathing as her heart pumped and she ran through the master bedroom.
She leaped for the bed to cross it and he grabbed her midair and twisted so she landed on top of him on the plush bed linens. He rolled, flipping her face down and pinning her with his sizable strength. She went completely still, every nerve ending pulsating, as he growled and bit down lightly on the flesh at the base of her neck where it met her shoulder. Her cunt contracted and she whimpered, on fire for him.
I definitely adore their dynamic. The four of them played off each other really well. Rainier took me on an enjoyable ride and I'm planning to get more of her books! Good storywriting, lovable characters, not much angst, a good mix of romance, steam and humour. Did I mention the book is pretty lengthy as well? Definitely worth the price. I would say a very modern twist on "Maizy-locks" and her three bears.
"Hey, if you were holding this luscious little angel you wouldn't want to put her down either."
"Little, my ass," she said through a giggle.
Still holding her to him, Heath turned bedroom eyes on her and said, "Your ass. Mmmm, maybe not little, but certainly luscious."
One thing I definitely didn't really like were the covers. They just don't really appeal to me much...The titles and synopsis though ;)
2 stars - Just ok. I hate the cover... those guys look like the Hulk and the girl looks scared (or bored). Siren really needs to start putting better covers on their books.
This installment in the Divine Creek Ranch series was a 'nice' one, letting us know what happened to Patrick's sister, Maizy. The guys in the book were introduced in 'Tiny Dancer'.
There's predictable drama in the form of harassment from a couple of familiar locals over the ménage, and Maizy has employment problems from it.
These later Divine Creek Ranch stories aren't as dramatic as the first ones, and the smex scenes in this one seemed repetitive (oh yeah, smex IS repetitive!). I scrolled through most of the later stuff. I do not think going without underwear is 'hot', just unsanitary.
I have purchased and read all of these books, but they just aren't as good as they once were. I know it's difficult for an author to keep up the suspense and story lines for so many books, and these are fairly long ones, but they just aren't holding up as a series the way the similar, but much funnier Bliss, CO series of Sophie Oak's is (although Texas Sirens has suffered some)... if all we are going to get is Tabitha as a protagonist, I am done.
Two character introductions were made in this book. A rose garden lady named Lola, and a co-worker of Maizy's named Jan with man problems from a husband who walked out. Not very interested in them at all at this point... maybe Presley Ann's sister is a possibility.
Practically no annoying mistakes or typos. Kudos for that!
*WARNING* Get ready for your emotions to be launched into a whirlwind by Ms. Heather Rainier's newest addition to her Divine Creek Ranch Family. Ms. Rainier's renowned writing skills are displayed from the very first sentence until those dreaded final two words. Her abilities to "pull" the reader into her books, and make them feel like they are actually living the story, right along with those beloved characters, is what will forever keep her as my absolute favorite author. Maizy The Bear Charmer pushed and shoved it's way to almost the very top of my favorite Heather Rainier books. *Sigh* It was a hard decision and an internal struggle, but Divine Grace will undoubtedly forever be my #1. If you want to: laugh out loud, get mad as hell, smack someone upside the head, grab a freaking box of tissues, laugh some more, fan your face as you read those smoking hot love scenes, wish you had at least one of those fantabulous bears of your own, (I'm greedy, I want all three...*snort*),hug a teacher and thank them for everything they go through that no one knows about, and just freaking move to Divine, even if it's only for a few hours, then YOU need to BUY this book and ALL of Ms. Rainier's books NOW!!!
LOVE ME SOME BEARS!! I am NEVER disappointed in ANY of the Divine books by Heather Rainier. She knows how to create the kind of men any woman would be thrilled to have. She also creates heroines with the kind of attitude you can't help but to appreciate. Maizy the Bear Charmer IS the PUUURFECT read on a chilly night. I lusted after Heath, Spencer, and Cody and thought these men were the perfect blend of protective and charming with their woman, Maizy. Maizy is sweet, kind, yet has a spine of steel when it comes to the things she believes in. I 100% LOVED this book! Can't wait for the next one! If your looking for a spicy, yet sweet read featuring three gorgeous men and one amazing heroine, this is DEFINITELY the book for you.
If I could give this a 10 star I would. It was so good that I did not want it to end. I laughed and cried throughout the book. I really felt like I was living the story with her. I loved the way Maizy dealt with the opinions of some people. It felt real. This is a fantastic story and the Author is awesome. Love her and all her books. Waiting for the next book to be released. I so can not wait to read the next book by Heather Rainier. She is my must have books. If you have not read the Divine series, pick up a copy today. You will be hook like me.
Heather always amazes me with her talent to write an awesome story. I just love what she does with the town of Divine and the heart she puts into the characters of her stories. Not to mention the fabulous love scenes, the sexy men and the fearless women who love them. The lengths they go to support each other always makes me love her books. This is another two thumbs up or 5stars for Maizy the Bear Charmer!!!
Once again Heather Rainier wrote a fabulous book. Maizy and her bears is a wonderful story. Since she is a teacher, the big concern is can she have an unconventional relationship and keep the job she loves. All of Heather's books make the reader feel so good and at the end you have the ahhh moment. Love this series.
Loved this one. Great connection with all of the characters. Loved Maizy and loved all of the bears. Thank you Heather Rainier, for another lovely read. Le sigh....
BRAVO!! Maizy's story was by far one of the best books I've read. I always love to visit Divine and I wasn't disappointed. Love maizy's story and who wouldn't want 3 HOT devoted men.
Let's start this off with my statement, "I like this series, really like it", I just am wavering on the latest books. We met the nears in Tiny Dancer, and they totally distracted me from the main characters. Perhaps, I built them up too much in my mind. There were several high points in the book and some not so great things. It is still a good read, it managed to get me very emotional a couple times. Just not the awesomeness I expect in this series.
I adore Cody, Heath and Spencer, they just seemed meeker than when they were first introduced. Cody lives up to the bossy bear, I would have liked a touch more Dom from him. Spencer is the strong silent bear, I can never resist them! Heath is the playful one, although he ended up being the spanker. They are a lethal combo, they just felt watered down a touch. Sure that they were delicious at the beginning, so very dominant and overpowering, I wanted that intensity to stick around. I loved them at the Twisted Bull, they made a strong showing in the end too.
Maizy is very sweet, she has a touch of spunk in her, wish we had seen more of that backbone. She caved too easy in a few situations. I understand she is a teacher and subject to the school board, a seriously terrible place to be. She has moments of sass and sensuality, I would have loved to see more of her in that light. I really prefer the gals with spunk, even though I know we need variety in our heroines. She fits in very well with all the other Divine ladies.
The side story here is more of Tabitha Lester, eh, I am kind of getting tired of her. Here we are at book 16 in the series, by now there are more Divas than Frozen Chosen. I am really ready for them to lay the smack down on this prude. In Divine Phoenix she seemed more pathetic and weak, how has she become this powerhouse? I feel like we need more or a conflict than this.
While I am on the subject, I am experiencing deja vu in some of the books. I feel like every book we have a talk about how menages work, and how the guys won't be jealous of each other. I feel like that area is well covered by now.
Now for the really good stuff!!! There is loads of steam in this book! Sure it happens quick, almost too quick, but I am giving in to the love/lust at first sight philosophy. Oh boy, if I could have a big ole hot shower scene like that!! Wow, it is all about the lady!! Yes please, sign me up and lather away!! This book seems to feature more smexy scenes than other books and a greater amount of one on one time with the heroes. Not a complaint, just an observation. While I am not into foot play, there is a hot scene that will give any foot fetishist shivers!! I do love me some spanking, and there is a yummy naughty scene with that to get ya hot and bothered. Such a steamy read you might just want to leave your panties off, it will save you laundry time!
There are a couple very emotional times in the book, sobbing occurred and tissues were deployed. Very heartbreaking! Ms Rainier knows how to shred my heart and then put it back together again by the end of the book.
Usually the books cover a longer time span with time jumps thrown in, this was skipped, everything pretty much happened in a month. I like the jumps because they made the relationships seem more real, giving emotions more time to manifest. I enjoyed the whole thing, it just lacked a bit of the umph from earlier books. I miss the days when stories were a touch more mixed together and overlapping.
I love seeing all the supporting characters, it is something you come to depend on in the Divine series. Everybody continues to grow and the relationships get stronger with each book. We met a few new ladies this book with fellow teacher Jan, hairstylist Danielle, rose lover Lola, all ripe for HEA stories, menage of otherwise! I am also looking at past ladies with mentions like Leah, who has been single far to long, I am sure her sister would cause her trouble. I am also curious about Madeleine, she might need a little romancing too! I would also love to see a certain boudoir photographer resurface and find some good lovin!! See, I am totally addicted!
I am very excited for the next book, going to get a HEA for smexy sheriff Hank!! Oh and the yummy scenes I read with BDSM, wickedly delicious! I have faith this will be a truly scrumptious read!
Heareview2ther Rainier’s Divine Creek Ranch series is like potatoe chips: you eat one, you want to eat the all pack because you know it will taste good.
So I liked Maizy the Bear Charmer, no surprise here.
(...)
The other thing that was annoying was the credibility. I may meet someone in the street and find him handsome. I may think about him and add him in my wet dreams. But will I buy a house and re-build it from A to Z with the hope that I will meet the guy again, marry him, have kids and live forever and ever and ever with him when I did not even exchange a single word or not know him at all? Really?
(...)
Another one became a bit annoying is the constant use of “my bears” nick name by the heroine. It was cute at first, but after a while it became a bit over the top.
(...)
Positive points? many!
Since it is a very long novel, it is definitely an asset as I got to know the characters very well and understand their motives. I totally loved the male characters. They were all endearing and devoted heroes. I dare any reader to read this story and not dream or sigh about them. I enjoyed that Heather Rainier took the time to make sure that the heroine had one-on-one time with each of them and built an independent relationship with each of them. One of them did not get the big romantic “i-love-you” time and in that equality time was not respected. Funny how sometimes, one male hero speak loud and clear in the head of the author. I bet, Spencer, was THE one :)
The heroine was also a lovable and strong character. Somehow, I felt that this heroine in particular was very very dear to Heather Rainier. Yes, she fell for the heroes in a matter of nano seconds but it was interesting to follow her in her journey of being seduced. Although, in the end, it was clear that she made her decision from the start and just decided to delay the inevitable.
Heather Rainier explored something that is very real in every little town or village: gossips, respectability, jealousy, tight mentality. For anyone who lives in small cities where everyone knows everyone, you know what I am talking about. I did, for a couple of years. *shaking head*
So overall, I spend a very good time. Yes, the author tickled some of my pet peeves but she still remain an incredible talented author that brings me each time in her journey. It is always a pleasure to read her. Each time, I feel as if I read a diaries. Day after day, I know more and more about the characters. And something I will never be tired to compliment her is her lexicon to remind us, readers, who is who. THAT is totally priceless for such a long series like Divine Creek Ranch. Thank you Mrs Rainier!
Do I recommend Maizy the Bear Charmer? definitely!
Visits to Heather Rainier’s fictional world of Divine, are always a blast and this occasion was just as much fun! Ms. Rainier has been teasing us with Cody, Heath and Spencer’s search for their mysterious belly dancer and we finally get to see who that masked woman is.
Ms. Rainier gave us a sexy, sensual take on a fairytale about three bears and in her case “Maizy-locks.” Instead of “Maizy-locks” trying to find out what is just right, three men are looking for that woman who is just right!
I adored Cory, Heath and Spencer, three big “beary” men who were uber protective of women. Ms. Rainier gave us strong male characters that were more than their appearance. Each man had a rough start in life but together managed to survive and grow from the experience. I loved that each man was unique. Spencer was super sensitive, Heath more happy go lucky and Cory super bossy but together they were a force to be reckoned with! These men just fit with our friends and family in the Divine Creek Ranch series.
I thought Maizy was a wonderful mixture of sexy, sassy and shy. She treasured her job and grew to love her men even as she knew that something would have to give. In Maizy Ms. Rainier gave us a wonderfully strong female character ready, willing and able to fight for her men. Her “bears” needed someone who could see them as individuals and love them for their differences and Maizy did that and then some. Maizy blossomed under the love of her three men as Ms. Rainier showed us a woman who became more secure in both herself and her relationship.
I respected how Cody, Heath, Spencer and Maizy were willing to fight for their right to love and accepted the consequences of that love. I was impressed with their determination and willingness to do whatever was necessary even to their detriment.
I appreciated seeing a community come together in acceptance instead of divisiveness. I liked seeing old friends and new find happiness even as they stood up for each other. I thoroughly enjoyed Maizy the Bear Charmer and look forward to what else will happen in Divine, Texas.
The one thing that I really liked about this one was how determined the Bears were to find their belly dancer. They knew they would find her even if it took a while, but in the meantime they would get ready for her, via getting a house and making it perfect for her.
Maizy was interesting. I loved that she loved her job, but hated that she felt like she had to hide so much of herself, even the innocuous things. I did like how the Bears got that about her and went about doing what they could to help her, until Cody got it in his head that to really help was to end things. Such a stupid move!
I can't believe that Tabitha Lester is still around spewing her filth, nor can I believe the lengths that she went to. She really needs to be taken down a peg or 3. It looks like she finally is starting to feel the heat, I can only hope that the next book makes her go away for good.
I'm also glad that everyone, Bears, family, and students stood up for Maizy. I really loved that she learned a long kept secret of a co-worker. I don't think that she will ever get grief about her situation from her boss now.
I liked the ending, loved that there was a HEA and that this group of Poly relationships are going to do something to give back to the community.
3.5 stars for the length and sweetness of the story. I liked the length of this story even if it dragged in places. I think this was one of Heather Rainier's better stories. When I read the two previous stories I was curious about these three heroes. This book reminded me most of the first one Grace's story with the uber-supportive men and all the explanations that book also had. Its almost as if these people have to be so wonderful they are saintly, to justify the menage, as far as this reader is concerned that is redundant because I am reading the book aren't I? Oh well, other than the sugary sweetness of the characters I still liked this book as erotica, with a little crisis thrown in. There was nothing new here though, and so although a very consistent read, I think it is time for me to stop reading these same old same old books.
Maizy Owen has just found herself as a single woman because her jerk of an ex fiancé didn't want to be tied to her family after finding out her brother was in a poly relationship, between dealing with that pain and being thrilled that the first day of school is finally here she's just ready to move on and when she least expects it she finds herself surrounded by three bears...The bears as Cody, Heath, and Spencer are referred to have been searching for their belly dancing gypsy since last Halloween only to find her in a coffee shop...now that they've all found love what are they going to do when Maizy's job is threatened.... I absolutely loved this story and I for one cannot wait for a certain gossip to get her come uppings...onto the next
Love this Heather Rainier series... Maizy and her three "bears" are very cute. Heath, Spenser, and Cody, are lovable big hunky sweeties. The guys have been looking for her since Halloween when she belly danced, and now they found her. They aren't letting go. The school board and horrible person, Tabitha, are not happy. It's always good to see past series characters again, and the story is interesting, well written, and fun. Deep feelings, and insecurities are dealt with. We always learn something new. ENJOY !!
I love all the Divine Creek Ranch series. They are wonderful menage stories. This book I could not put down. It is also really nice to read about continuing characters. There is not a bad book in the entire series so you can't do wrong by reading any of them. This book is another wonderful addition.
Very nice addition to this series. I liked all the characters. My only complaint was the constant reference to the guys as "the bears". It got a little old. Nice story though and I liked that the heroine was a Kindergarten teacher.
This story was very nicely written and quite plausible inn context as well with the problems Maizy has with keeping her foursome as well as her job as a kindergarten teacher. Very sexy, very enjoyable - the idea of all three of those huge men focusing their attention on one woman? Hotness.
I loved this story. It was a fairy tale come true. It shows that true love does concur all. Cody, Heath and Spencer have been searching for the mysterious belly dancer that got away on Halloween. Maizy's fiancée dumps her after the Halloween party fiasco. Will The Bears find their belly dancer? If they find her, can they convince her to give them a chance? Will Maizy choose The Bears or her job? I liked that you got caught up with previous characters in this book.
I like the series that Heather Rainier has written, but not all the books. This one is okay. I liked the idea of the story, but something was missing, and I am not sure what it is. Romance moves really fast in the town of Divine. Maizy and her bears work well together. There was a moment when I wanted to strangle the bears, but Maizy knows how to express herself, and it worked out well. Basically it is a story about prejudice, this time in the form of anti-poly relationships, standing up for yourself and what is right, and living HEA. Well, unless the author decides to revisit the quad in another book. She is known to do that.I didn't love it, but I didn't hate it.
