Infusing the hardcore intensity of their New York Times bestselling memoir, SEAL Team Six , into two pulse-pounding novels, Howard E. Wasdin and Stephen Templin plunge readers into the electrifying action of the Outcasts, the elite SEAL warriors who covertly defy the rules when America’s safety is on the line. They are the heroes the world will never know…
Working under the radar in Special Ops unit Bitter Ash, these men and women take on the missions no one else wants. Every op is the highest possible risk and any moment could be their last. Now, they must parachute into the harsh desert on the border with Afghanistan, to meet a beautiful agent who will lead them to an Iranian biological warfare site they are to destroy with a suitcase-size nuke. And, like most missions, nothing goes according to plan, with a maniacal Revolutionary Guard officer a razor’s edge away from exposing them. Then the team must free a hostage in Lebanon before the fight takes them halfway around the world—in a frantic battle of courage and stealth that America cannot afford to lose.

Just another fun filled day for members of Seal Team Six, but these were not normal Seals, these were members of a special unknown squad, they were Black Ash.Black Ash were the squads sent out and completed missions that if failed no one would know, the government would deny all knowledge of any mission or those involved. Iran is on the verge of making a biological weapon, one that would kill millions and their target is the United States. This was a good read and one filled with action, we also have a romance between two of the members that is complicated when one is involved with their liaison from Iran, and so the story goes... I would recommend this for a good quick read.
From Easy Day for the Dead I expected mayhem, blood, guts, firefights, explosions, stealth missions, and a bunch of suspense. And that was all provided. What I didn't expect was romance. At least, not in the amount this book holds. Don't get me wrong, I like some romance in my books, but in this particular book it kind of clashes with...everything. Once Cat makes an appearance in the book it seems that that's all the book focuses on. Cat, Cat, Cat, CAT! That's all well and good, I don't mind reading about Cat. What I do mind is reading about ridiculous dinner dates when I could be reading about some badass SEALs doing their badass stuff. More bullets, less bedroom.
EASY DAY FOR THE DEAD is the second installment of the "SEAL Team Six Outcasts" series. Stephen Templin, and Howard Wasdin once again give us their insider's view of the workings of an elite, off the books, Navy SEAL team, tasked with the missions to do the impossible, and to do it every time. "Easy Day for the Dead," is a rollercoaster ride filled with fast paced, heart pounding action, but balanced with the human side of the war on terror, never failing to remind us of the personal sacrifice, and loss of the men and women who serve. Mixing a more personal, and human aspect of the story along with a healthy dose of world travel, intrigue, and suspense, gives EASY DAY FOR THE DEAD a greater depth, and believability. Navy SEALs traveling across the globe, trying to stay one-step ahead of the bad guys; what's not to love? EASY DAY FOR THE DEAD is great fun, and a great read. Available December 31, 2013.
100 pages in, this is the most sophomoric, juvenile, unbelievable claptrap I've picked up in years. If this is good writing (as reviewed by Dalton Fury) I hope I never see any examples of the poor kind...thankfully I got it at the library.
The book I read this six weeks was “Easy Day For The Dead – A SEAL Team Six Outcasts Novel” by Howard E. Wasdin and Stephen Templin. Wasdin was born on November 8th, 1961 in Boynton Beach, Florida. He served in the United States Navy 1983 – 1995. He was a member of SEAL team 2 during the Persian Gulf War, then got pulled to the United States Naval Special Warfare Development Group, A.K.A. "DEVGRU" and "SEAL Team Six". Templin was born in Los Angeles, California. He is a bestselling author in which his books have been translated into thirteen different languages. In “Easy Day For The Dead - A SEAL Team Six Outcasts Novel”, you are sent on grueling missions with a SEAL team known as the “Outcasts”. You are set through missions with Alex, Pancho, John, Cat, and Laila. You are as well put through some of the missions that Major Kahn was put through in efforts to kill the outcasts. Throughout the book, you are put through a journey with the extensive explanation of the challenges and operations that occur. In the story, the outcasts are sent on a mission in Iran to destroy a nuclear test/launch facility in which if the plan would fail, the U.S. would claim no responsibility. The outcasts were and always will be expendable. When they destroy the facility, they catch word that a lead scientist had escaped and was air lifted to a hospital. They are given orders to go and kill her, yet when they get there, they are given an option. The scientist will expose a bio-chemical lab that had been formimg an agent that would wipe out half of the U.S. population at least, if they saved her husband from confinement. The SEALs are given no choice but to take the lead, and do what ever they can to stop the terrorists from destroying the U.S. I believe the whole point of this book was to be a thrilling incite of the lives of the Navy SEALs. The book was amazing at giving immense detail in all the blood and gore of the situation and yet still gave it a story line to which a reader could follow. They took you around the world and explored different areas in which they battled. I believe that the author was trying to say, “This is what we do just to keep some sort of peace in the world, even if it means giving ours away for possible death.” I loved this book; I believe it had the perfect ratio between story line works, blood and gore fighting, and the horrors of being in situations of the world. If I were to change anything in this book, I would change nothing. This book was written by authors that have been in these situations, and how can you get any better than a first-hand look? If you are a person that likes blood, action, and yet a storyline to follow along by, this is the book for you. I cannot stress enough how much detail has gone in to this book to make it as accurate as possible. All of the abbreviations, weapon modifications, and equipment can be projected in your mind by the amount of detail that is put forth.
#2 in the Seal Team Six Outcasts series. Three SEALs in trouble for exceeding their orders and a beautiful feminist, Arabic speaker are placed in a second and last chance team to redeem their careers. Exciting anti-terrorism action against Iranian Islamists bent on unleashing a biologic weapon on the U.S. Leader Alex has met the Iranian Major over gun-sights in Iraq, back in 2006, now they meet again in southern Iran. Phase two of the mission is in northern Iran, and they meet again, and in Lebanon, and in Venezuela and in Russia. Either Major Kahn can read Alex' mind or they are pen pals.
Seal Team Six Outcasts - Their Mission: Blow up a secret Iranian biological warfare site with a suitcase-sized nuke. The Catch: Getting out alive . . . then going back for more. . . . Drawn from the elite SEAL Team Six, these men and women are working deep in a program called Bitter Ash: taking on the kind of missions that, if they were exposed, will always be denied. For these warriors, every op is the highest possible risk and any moment could be the last. So they deal with it. And then wait for the next call. Now the call has them parachuting into a harsh desert on the border with Afghanistan, meeting a beautiful agent who will lead them to a top-secret Iranian site that must be totally destroyed. For Alex Brandenberg and his fellow SEALs, this mission is like most others: Nothing goes according to plan. And when they're done, they've only just begun. Going back into Iran for a second time brings Brandenberg and his team face-to-face with a maniacal Revolutionary Guard officer who knows Alex's identity and is hot on his trail. The SEALs must free a hostage in Lebanon. Then the fight takes them halfway around the world - in a frantic battle of courage and fighting skill that America cannot afford to lose.
The Outcasts are on the move again ready to travel the globe taking on those who threaten the U.S. Even though they get no support from the government. This time it's Iran who has been secretly building a biological weapons lab in case their nuclear program fails. The Outcasts destroy a plant in Iran and are about to assassinate it's lead scientist when she tells them that Iran has another lab in another country and it's just about ready. They are keeping her husband in a secret facility and she will only disclose the location of the lab if he is rescued. The Outcasts now have their work cut out for them and they are off and running. This is book two in the Outcasts series and I liked the story. I gave it a 4.
This book was probably In my top 15 books that iv'e read. The book has a lot of shooting, blood, drama, anything you can imagine in a war book. The story is about a group of friends who are Navy Seals, trying to stop attacks on the USA by going all over the world. There is many battles that happen along the way. Alex the main character, has troubles deciding between 2 girls. He loses both of their trust and has to rebuild it. This story is fast paced, fun, and nail biting. I would defiantly recommend this book to other people who like fast paced books.
Mehhhh......I was disappointed with Easy Day For The Dead. I can't decide if I just read military fiction with a romance novel on the side or a Harlequin romance novel wrapped around a Navy SEAL operation. Either way it wasn't good. The story was predictable and some of the lines were very cheesy. I could see this book being adapted for a Lifetime TV movie. The authors should really stick to non-fiction. I will avoid reading any more books in this series.
Action packed thrill ride from the beginning to the end. Book #2 of the Outcasts saga. Not many authors can make me read the end to make sure all the characters live through it. Believable characters with a never say die attitude. A page turner, combat action junkies will love it. Three cheers for Wasdin and Templin.
Lots of trade craft explanation and informative descriptions of the various locales used. The human element is given attention too (emotions). Sometimes the good guys are killed and even the main characters suffer wounds. Worthwhile reading; not a classic but well-done. I will watch for more work from this writing team.
Another unofficial US special group dedicated to eliminating enemies abroad. Simplistic writing, unimaginative plots, standard group of characters, a somewhat boring read.
