And I'm done! I will not be picking up another book in this series. It was a train wreck I didn't want to look away from, until this book.

I loathe Scarlet. She is the anti everything to what I feel a strong female lead should be. She is selfish, she is childish, she is immature, she is weak, and could we for once have a book where she doesn't run away from something. I just can't stand her and that ended this book series for me.

And Sean, OMG really? I swear the author just felt that this couple needed to amp up the drama so she just started making crap up.

There are no redeeming qualities. Ugh, I can't even go into any more details, because I'm annoyed that this series was able to get me to purchase 3 of the worst books I've read this year because I couldn't stop reading them. I guess the authors did something right since I purchased three of them, but I'm saying no to more.

NO NO NO NO NO.

Hate it!

Through out books 2 and 3 Scarlet is continually called a brat! But the BRAT in this series is SEAN!!!! OMG, I can't stand him and I feel so cheated to not get a hero I can get behind. And I am also disappointed in Ryan, Cortland and Janice for constantly pushing her to get back with Sean. Scarlet is supposed to be the sister and friend to these people but they do NOT have her back at all. They all three continually make excuses for Seans bratty, imature behavior. I still wish the author would have hooked up Cortland and Scarlet, but I'm sure he gets his story in another book. Sadly I'm not even going to finish this book and I certainly won't be reading any other's in this series. My one star is for storyline only

I disliked this book so much (not the whole series, just this book was so outrageaously unfair and stupid)

• F-ck you Sean. You are the wrong here - not Scarlet. You are being extremely selfish and you are the real brat. She isn't the best character out there, granted, but nowhere near the assholery of yours.

• F-ck you Ryan. I love you, but you are being way too unfair to your sister , being on team Sean on that matter. He is an ass, and he is extremely selfish.
• It will take me too much time to like Sean, and I'm not sure if this will even change in the next installments or if he will continue to be such a f-cker.
• I'm too fond of my kindle to smash it while reading the book, but I just threw up a little reading ''I love you'' in every other page. How about you start showing the love, instead of writing it in every single sentence?
• I dislike more and more the characters to be honest, but for a strange reason, I find it addicting to read. Its like a bad reality that you know isn't good enough to spend time, but watch it anyway.

First, if you are reading this book and think your relationship with your significant other sounds a lot like Scarlet and Sean -- Run. Run, far, far, far away. These two are the worst. I almost wish I had a camera on me as I was reading to capture the many disgusted/annoyed faces I felt myself making as I was reading.

Now granted, I did read the first three books in the series (this being the third), mainly because they were free (and I started the first one the night we didn't have any power and there wasn't much else to do) and because I couldn't believe how unbelievable and ridiculous the story line was. So if that was the author's goal, then she succeeded.

The dialogue was repetitive and keeping track of time was difficult considering the first book kept referring to a time "a few weeks ago," followed by a bunch of things happening, and then only a day or two had gone by.

Oh, and the relationships --- Are they for real? There really can't be anyone out there who acts like any of these people. I seriously wanted to punch them all in the face.

I also can't believe there are reviews for these books that are 5 stars. What? Seriously? Have these people never read any other kind of book.....ever?

There's so much more to complain about, but I just can't.

Bad Romance Book Club

These are direct quotes:

"'You're a whore.'" (pg. 77)

"'Your almost daughter-in-law is a whore.' Only Sean Called me that, and he only meant it in a good way." (pg. 88)

"'I couldn't care in the least if my parents think Scar is a whore.'" (pg. 111)

What kind of relationship does this couple have? If any man in my life ever called me a whore, I would punch his face in. Yet for her it's an endearment?

Okay, fine, ignoring their idiotic names for each other, let's look at Scarlet's relationship with her brother.

"'My brother and I are really close.'
'I've noticed.'
'He showed me how to put in my first tampon.'
She almost knocked over her bowl. 'What?'
'He did a demonstration - he didn't do anything to me. There are no secrets between us. I know it's odd, but that's just how we are. He knows a lot about my personal life. I told him when I lost my virginity, the first time I had an orgasm, and he helped me pick out my first birth control.'" (pg. 153)

...

I consider myself close with my brother. It means we talk on the phone once a week. The above quotation is the most incestuous thing I've read short of actual incest! WTF?!

All right, let's move past the weird brother/sister thing.

Let's just talk about Sean.

The man is an asshole. What kind of a douche spends WEEKS torturing the woman he loves for sleeping with another man when she WASN'T EVEN IN A RELATIONSHIP WITH HIM! She did not cheat on him, he frankly has no right to judge her, yet he does cruel things in order to hurt her. That's not love; that's nasty, vicious, and horrible.

"'I don't want you to see Cortland anymore.' I waited to see how she would respond. I was just curious if she would pick her brother and friend over me. I suspected she would. It wouldn't change anything, but I just wanted to know." (pg. 222)

And I'm done. He's an asshat. There is nothing redeemable about this character anymore.

This is one book that I felt like chucking my kindle out the window. Sean and Scarlett's story continues and let me say...hair pulling, yep a lot of hair pulling (my poor hair). Anyways I like the story cause it builds up and then it just takes you down. I literally wanted give up on reading the rest.

Edge of Love is full of angst, drama, make outs and tears (glad I didn't shed any). Still it's basically more to do with Sean learning to trust and Scarlett (who got so effing annoying at times, I had to tune her out while reading) trying to be more equal with Sean. I did think that she's a total brat. Yet it works both ways for them. It's like they deserve one another.

I really wanted to give this a 2star but cause I enjoyed the story I thought I will ride out the rest of their dramas.

I've never read about 2 people who were so mismatched and pathetic. This book just made me frustrated and angry half the time. I mean seriously.....how can 2 people hang on like that when all the odds are stacked against them. This book annoyed me.

Finally Scarlet and Sean are happy but as soon as they touch ground in Connecticut the bliss is over. Over half the book is spent with these two bickering about everything from their wedding, family, running away, keeping secrets, mistrust or coworkers.

Let's start with them arriving at his family's estate. I get the mother cares about her son, but for a mother that has called her son's best friend her daughter for the last how many year's to become a cold witch to Scarlet is uncalled for. The mother claims its because she is worried it is a rebound. If that was her rationale then she should be coddling Scarlet worrying she will get hurt and yelling at him saying he will lose his friend. Instead Penelope's name was brought up every two seconds and the mother even called the ex while they were there. Actions + words were not equaling the truth. What's worse is the fact that Sean would rather protect Penelope his ex who lied, cheated and broke up his relationship with a baby paternity lie, rather than tell his mother what happened which would loosen the venom thrown at Scarlet, his fiancé. He should have gave his parents some of the truth;something. For someone to claim all this love for Scarlet, he should be protecting her from his mother's harsh words especially since this is the woman who is spending the rest of his life with him and as part of this family. Kuddos to the dad though. I absolutely loved all his comments toward the neighbor. Talk about hysterical.

Once back in Seattle the two of them just got worse. The fight over the wedding was completely dumb and why Sean was mad regarding Cortland was even worse. Don't get me wrong yes you would argue and be hurt but hello you two are getting married and if you can not work through this together you might as well call off the wedding now. In the past year all parties have made mistakes and time will need to heal wounds but the insanity made my head hurt. At one point I had to put the book down. Thank god it was all finally resolved.

However, despite all of the above there is a secret still lingering as Ryan still does not know about Janice and Sean and the story ends with a bang. Not that kind hehe but a "I didn't see that one coming" kind. Luckily 2014 is not far away to read what happens next.

On a side note to story itself for a new reader to this author I'd like to fill you in on the series. The first three books in the series were all released on the same day. I am not sure how she will release the future ones in the series, but in case you look at the release dates, like I do, this is not a goof. Also the author reached out to me and asked if I would read the 1st book as an ARC (advanced reading copy) for an honest review. I loved the story so much I had to buy the next 2. She is a great author and I have truly enjoyed reading something from a blooming star. She is detailed so you are never left questioning and if you think a situation or question has no closure beware.. it will happen even when you least expect it. It's an emotional adventure with some twist and turns to keep you wanting more.

Oh good grief, Scarlet and Sean are the worst!

Borderline rape (seriously no means no!), VERY unhealthy relationships (using sex to solve problems, withholding sex to get their way, and co-dependency to the max), derogatory terms thrown about casually like it's supposed to be funny, and poor editing, which is ironic since Scar's an editor.

Anyhow heroine is completely frustrating in the third book, I wanted to smack her upside her stubborn, selfish head. Everyone calls her a brat - she even acknowledges it herself - but Scarlet doesn't change at all. Or she does, but gets worse.

I actually don't like the increase of erotic scenes. Maybe that's what the author/fans liked, but it was unnecessary to me.

I was enjoying this series until I got to Book 3. This made me absolutely nauesous. The author could have told this story in one book, 2 at the most. By the 3rd book I felt like puking because there was no storyline, just page after page about Scsrlett Sean. To add insult to injury when I reached the end there was book 4 and on and on. I got these books for free but had I paid I would have hated myself.

I have never wanted a couple not to end up together as badly as I did reading this series. All of the main characters are immature, hypocritical and self-righteous.
Let's not even get started on the creepy relationship between the brother and sister; no one should be that comfortable talking about their sibling having anal sex

Dark, dysfunctional often heartbreaking for the characters, E.L. Todd’s Edge of Love is a twisted and jagged journey of misunderstandings, control, secrets. Sean and Scarlett have been best friends for years, now they are lovers, in love, they claim, neither has an inkling of what a healthy relationship is as once again, and then again, they end up at odds with each other over issues that should be non-issues.
Sean appears to be turning into a complete control freak, using both his anger, withdrawal of affection and even lack of sex to punish Scarlett, all that without even knowing if he has a reason! Scarlett’s wishes are denied in favor of his own in situations that will make her uncomfortable.

This time out, Scarlett did everything but carry a sign that says “trample my heart here.” Even their “sex talk” seems to harbor negativity, passive aggressive behavior? Who knows? If you are looking for a relationship guide on what counts as unhealthy in a relationship, this addition to the series is perfect.

I did finish the book and have always been a big fan of E.L. Todd, but Edge of Love took me too far out of my comfort zone to continue to relate to or have a sympathetic feel for any of the characters, this time out. I like darkness, I understand that relationships all have their own quirks, but for me, the sex fell flat, was too clichéd and too often and the plot suffered for it.

I received this copy from E. L. Todd in exchange for my honest review.

3 1/2 stars for me.

While I loved book 1 & 2 I had a few problems with this one. HEA on the 2nd book was great, but as always we readers fall in love with characters we want to read more and more. This 3rd installment while entertaining left me wishing the story didn’t continue.

1. Scarlet was way too immature. Perhaps I didn’t noticed it before, but after the apartment fight returning from his parents house I really REALLY wanted to punch her in the face. She turns out to be a hypocrite and only back-tracked once her relationship was in real problems.

2. I love romance and happy endings but with a bit of reality. Both Sean and Scarlet seem to be back in junior high and feel the need to say I love you every other sentence. The kindle count for “I love you’s” are over 70. That’s a third of the book. I don’t think they are insecure people so I didn’t understand the need for such sappiness.

3. The most unrealistic part of all was the everyday sex. OMG Only hungry teenager actually do it every chance they got (see why I think they are back in Junior High) and they surely don’t reach orgasms EVERY SINGLE TIME. The brother needed 3 times a day, Court 2 and Scarlet seem to be on eternal Viagra. Don’t get me wrong. I love sex but it’s unrealistic to do it every day more than twice EVERY DAY for long periods of time. I even thought that maybe she looks for fights just to rest her poor body. It was just too much. I know there is no exact science but 4-5 times per week is normal.

OK I’ll stop ranting now. I did enjoy the book, and liked the direction it was taking and then there was a curveball. The first 3 books were published 17-Nov-13 and now we have to wait until “early 2014”

I sincerely hope that Scarlet grows up the next time I pick this story.

Continuing on with the story of Sean and Scarlet, now that Sean has moved to Seattle to be with Scarlet and has gotten a job for less than what he made in new york. They go to Sean's family home in Connecticut to let his parents know about their engagement. Things do not go as planned. Sean's mom can't understand why he broke up with Penelope and got with Scarlet, which upsets Scarlet. Also, his brother starts to hit on Scarlet because he got Penelope and he thinks he can get Scarlet , also. He doesn't know Scarlet. They go back home and the problems arise. Keep reading this saga of these two, but I have to warn you we have to wait until next year for the next episode.

This series just gets better and better. There aren't many authors who manage to improve their novels as the series progresses. I loved the drama throughout and the progression of the characters. Was also great to see a more alpha male side to Sean.

Book Three starts off where Book Two leaves off with Scarlet and Sean blissfully happy for the moment, at least. Heading to his parents' home to announce their engagement sets off more (can you believe it?) drama with his brother Mike, who is out to screw Sean by screwing Scarlet IF he can, and his parents, particularly his mother who is still in contact with Penelope. Only his father seems to love Scarlet, but all this drama sets off arguments and anger from Sean with the issue of wedding plans.

Avoiding spoilers, the return to Seattle is one big argument that has Scarlet running away from Sean again, back to living with her brother Ryan and Janice. What will happen when Sean finds out about Cortland and Scarlet? This relationship should really end except for Sean doesn't want it to end; nor does Scarlet. Will the pair survive? Will the engagement continue and the wedding go on? What next for these drama queens? This novel ends on a cliffhanger, but this reader has had enough of "I love you." "I love you, too." conversations, which occur way too frequently. Removing half of these conversations would probably reduce the books by twenty to thirty pages, but then this reader thinks all of these could use a great deal of editing.

Thoughts on the three books in the boxed set from this reader is that this brilliant Harvard grad (or it may be the author herself) doesn't know grammar and makes so many typos and errors that it's frustrating. Some examples, the past tense of lie is LAY, not lied (unless you are telling a fib); when using the objective pronoun it should be Ryan and ME, not I and Ryan. Lots of sex scenes (okay, moaning and moments of orgasm), and What-the-tuck trends (green eyed character, pencil skirts, tucking incidents). Another irritating thing is how women are often called bitch and whore if Scarlet, Ryan, or Sean deem it so, as in flirting with someone. Actually, there are few really likable main characters as they tend to go for outrageous, extremes emotions (did I ever mention over-the-top drama?). By the way, depression is not the same as being sad, and it doesn't lift easily.

I feel like throughout this series the writing has gotten progressively worse. Like somehow by this book I’m at a point where I’m like “did you forget how to speak English?”

Anyways. What boggles my brain about this book is the weird relationship the h has with her brother. So weird in fact, even the brother is like hey your dependency on me is kinda creepy. She laughs and brushes it off, which is wild to me. Bc I know if ALL my friends including my sibling have told me my relationship with my brother is weird bordering on “Greek Sibling” vibes, I would probably re-evaluate some things. She literally admits she loves her brother more than her husband to be.

This is one of those heroine’s who’s incredibly selfish, runs away when pissed, has no girlfriends, tells her best guy friend she loves him and cuddles him while he gives her forehead kisses etc etc. So basically this entire book is a few hundred pages of grown ups who have zero understanding of boundaries.

Sean and Scarlett are abusive, childish, brats. Ryan is the only voice of reason.

And yet I've read the first three consecutively, couldn't put it down, screamed at the pages, and now I'm digging for the rest of the series. 🤦‍♀️

This book was good but unfortunately I began to become bored of it in the middle as it was just a big mess that kept going on for what seemed like ages, and then towards the end it was a bit like fifty shades of grey which kind of put me off the story and also at the end they left it on a cliff hanger and the next book is all about Ryan and Janice so I'm not sure where it picks up again with Scarlett and Sean, maybe in the 5th book but the problem with that is that I will have forgotten what's happened in the 1st 3 books by the time I find out the actual ending and everything that happens. Overall, it was an okay book. Not great and not my expectations of what I hoped it would be but anyway.

I didn't write a review for the 2nd book because I immediately started reading the 3rd book and just didn't take the time.

I've given all three of these books 5 stars. The story sucks you in and the characters are very well developed and there is never a dull moment. I just had to keep reading! Which is what good books should do! (And I'll try to write this with no big spoilers)

I must admit that I wasn't sure if I liked Sean that much, he screwed up a lot in the first book and screwed up in a ginormous way in the 2nd book. I did feel sorry for him but felt he deserved all he went through by being so stupid. Sorry, but I do feel that way, he did have inner thoughts of being happy seeing his engagement ring on Penelope in the 2nd book so I don't feel he was completely trapped miserably with her because of her pregnancy. So all the pain he felt after realizing he made a mistake and realizing he was duped and stupid, he deserved it. Yes I'm mean lol

Edge of love, near the end finally had me liking him more even though he was an asshole in this one several times. Yeah, he was an ass when Scarlet was being unreasonable, but come on, after all she went through with him, for him and did for him, I just felt he could have been more understanding and have had more patience with her over their wedding plans and her feelings towards his mother. I mean honestly, a real woman wouldn't appreciate hearing her future mom in law talking to the ex on the phone or hearing her say that she thought she was a rebound or the rude way his mother kept bringing up Penelope. No woman would I don't think. Unless she was a saint!

Sean was an asshole again I thought and over reacted to Scar being alone with his brother at the beginning of the book. I mean he blew up and said some awful mean sh** to her. He didn't even let her explain.

Lastly, Sean finally discovers a big Secret about Scar and Cortland, that they slept together in the first book. And boy does he get mad! He packs Scarlet's crap and makes her move in with Ryan. He did some pretty respectful things though during this time. He could have acted much worse but he handled himself well and took Scarlet's feelings into consideration after the initial shock wore off so I finally grew to respect him and finally start to really believe he truly loved her more than Penelope. (I must say I'm pretty sick of hearing about her) And near the end he started to find his inner Alpha male and was becoming more dominate even in their bed. Loved that!!! I think his conflicting feelings which ran soooooo long for Scarlet and Penelope turned me against him a lot. But by the end of this book I no longer felt he was hung up on the ex. Thank God.

There's a fourth book, and I'll read it to see the conclusion to this story. I LOVED the first book, really liked the 2nd and enjoyed the 3rd but I'm just not crazy about Sean. He's just not book boyfriend material for me personally. I didn't subtract from the amount of stars for these books for that because they are written extremely well! Fast paced. Lots of dialogue. I'm lost in this story while reading it... But I just don't like the Hero so much. But maybe I will after the 4th book if he continues to become more confident and assured in his love for Scarlet as this book was taking us there.

After Sean learnt that Penelope made the whole thing about him being the father to her unborn baby, he is absolutely heartbroken, the fact that he found out that Penelope's baby is another mans. Because of him finding out all of this he went into a depression stage but it was thanks to Scarlett that helped him get through it all. Now that Scarlett and Sean have made up completely and have everything back on track they both head to Connecticut to tell Sean's parents in person that they are both engaged but the weekend doesn't exactly go to plan.

When they both get back to Seattle as now Sean moved over there to be with Scarlett they both have a massive argument about where they want to get married. Scarlett doesn't want to get married over at Sean's parents house due to a number of reasons but the main one being she would rather have a small intimate one with Ryan, Janice, Cortland and Monique. Whereas Sean want's to get married over at his parents house, Sean honestly can't work out why Scarlett doesn't want to do any of it and it results in Scarlett walking out the next morning and heading straight to her brothers place. In what was only meant to be a short time away from each other turns into weeks due to Scarlett's past coming back to haunt her.

As soon as it's revealed that Scarlett slept with Cortland, Sean is mortified as he thinks that it's happened whilst they been together but no matter how much Ryan and Scarlett try to convince him otherwise that she would never cheat on him. Scarlett realises that she has hurt Sean which has resulted in him not being able to trust her and the fact that this is the first time that she has caused hurt and pain to their relationship, she honestly has no idea what she can do to make it up to him.

Scarlett is hoping that Sean will be able to forgive her for what she has done as she hopes that if he does truly love her like he says he does then surly he will forgive her considering she forgave him when he betrayed her. Will Sean find it in his heart to forgive her, if he can go to her when he needs to satisfy himself then you'd think that maybe there is a chance for both of them.

What will Sean decide to do, will he keep his promise to her and stick by her or will he not be able to find it in his heart to forgive her and move on without her. You will want to know what happens between them and just to give you the heads up this book will end on a cliffhanger. When I was reading this book I felt like I was there with the characters, the story captures your heart in a way that I wasn't even sure was possible. You won't regret it by picking up this series.

Whew I need a cold shower after this book-E.L. Todd amped up the sex in this third installment of the Forever and Always series and I loved every page! Do not read this review unless book one and two have been read, as this review will contain spoilers for them.

Scarlet and Sean are finally together, in the same state and happy, however now they have to announce the engagement and plan a wedding. In the first books of the series we are made aware of Scarlet's family or lack thereof. There is no father and her mother pretty much disowned her and Ryan at an early age. Sean however comes from the complete opposite, a well to do family, parents are still married and he has a brother (which is a whole other story). Sean's parents know Scarlet because of the ten year friendship between them, although lots of Penelope questions arise during the visit.

Scarlet is uncomfortable around Sean's mother and the constant barrage of questions about Penelope. After the visit she decides she will not be married Sean's parents estate and that does not go over well with him. Although our couple is finally together, they do not stay in that happy place for long.

I didn't realize until this book how sticky the situation is with Ryan, Janice, Sean, Scarlet and Cortland. Sean and Janice have slept together as well as Scarlet and Cortland. Now Sean and Scarlet are together, as well as Ryan and Janice and Cortland and Monique (who I still question at this point). This is a recipe for disaster for these close-knit relationships.

With the amount of secrets being kept, one is bound to get out and wreak havoc within the couples, which it does. Sean and Scarlet love each other, but aren't sure if that is enough to survive. I liked how even though there were problems, they were there when the other one needed them. I think that showed some growth in their relationship. Sean has to deal with things on his own and in his own time, which isn't easy on Scarlet. Yes I am being vague at this point as not to give any of the story line away.

This was a well written sexy as hell book, which has a cliffhanger ending that shocked me. I can't wait for the next one.
