మునెమ్మ జయరాముడిని ఏకాంత క్షణాల్లో మోహం కమ్మిన వేళల్లో 'పిలగాడా' అని సంబోధిస్తుంది. జయరాముడి మరణం తరువాత బొల్లిగిత్తను కూడా 'పిలగాడా' అనే పిలుస్తుంది. పరోక్షంగా భర్త మరణానికి కారణమైన బొల్లిగిత్త... ఆ భర్త స్థానాన్ని భర్తీ చేయడం నవలగా ఈ కథాంశం సాధించిన పోయెటిక్ జస్టిస్.

About the author

Dr. Kesava Reddy was a renowned Telugu novelist.[1] Hailing from Andhra Pradesh state in India. In his writings, he addresses many of the important social problems in India like poverty, prejudices, and superstitions, and encourages people to be socially responsible. He successfully bridges the idealistic and popular styles of literature.

Kesava Reddy was born in Thalapula Palli, Chittoor District, Andhra Pradesh to Ranga Reddy P, a farmer. He did his early education at S.V University, Tirupathi. He obtained his MBBS degree from Pondicherry University, and his pg diploma in dermatology in CMC medical college, Vellore. Reddy worked as a medical officer in Victoria Hospital, Dichpally, Nizamabad. He later retired and settled in Nizamabad town.

An excellent short novel about the relationship of a rural family and its beast of burden. And the power of a woman's determination.
Written in Telugu as spoken in rural Chittoor district. Difficult to follow at times, though there is a glossary at the end, but a very good and touching book all the same.

అతడు అడవిని జయించాడు చదివిన తర్వాత, ఇది చదివే అవకాశం కలిగింది. ఆద్యంతం ఆసక్తికరంగా సాగే కథ,కథనం. మునెమ్మకి ఒకరోజు వచ్చిన కల నుండి ఎన్నో పరిణామాలకు దారితీస్తూ, ప్రతి పాత్రని మనకి పరిచయం చేసి, వాళ్ళ మూలాల్ని కూడా మనకి సమాంతరంగా కథనంతో పాటుగా సినబ్బ ద్వారా చెప్పే ప్రయత్నం చేసారు రచయిత శ్రీ కేశవరెడ్డి గారు, సఫలీకృతులు అయ్యారు కూడా. మునెమ్మకి వచ్చింది కల లేక సూచన (premonition) అనేది నాకు ఇప్పటికీ అంతు పట్టని విషయం. బొల్లిగిత్తతో తరుగులోడు, మందోడుని చంపించటం ఒక విశ్వ న్యాయం(cosmic justice) అనిపించింది. చివరిలో అంబటి గారు రాసినట్టు,సినబ్బని రచయితగానే అనుకున్నాను.... తన కళ్ళతో చూసేదే, తద్వారా మనకు చెప్పేదే, మనం పాఠకుడిగా అనుభూతి చెందుతాం. కథనం నాకు విపరీతంగా నచ్చింది

A short and a compelling read, with an engaging pace and an interesting narrative. Munemma is the first female stoic character, I've ever read in Telugu literature and no wonder that it comes from Kesava Reddy. A beautiful book. Don't miss!

ఒక పుస్తకాన్ని చదవడానికి కథ, కథనం అర్థం చేసుకోవడంతో పాటూ దాని నేపథ్యం, రచయిత ఆలోచనా సరళీ తెలుసుకోవడం ఎంత ముఖ్యమో ఈ పుస్తకం వల్ల నాకు తెలిసింది.
విడిగా ఈ పుస్తకాన్ని ముందు మాట, చివరి సంగ్రహము లేకుండా చదివి ఉంటే దీనికి నేను 3 stars కంటే ఎక్కువ ఇచ్చి ఉండే వాడిని కాదేమో.

కథా, కథనం చాలా సరళమైనవి. తన భర్తని హతమార్చిన దుండగుల మీద మునెమ్మ ఎలా ప్రతీకారం తీర్చుకుందో అన్నదే వృత్తాంతం.
అయితే కథలో పాత్రలని రచయిత తీర్చిదిద్దిన వైనం, సినబ్బ పాత్ర ద్వారా పక్కనుండి నడిపించడం చాలా చక్కగా ఉంది.

మునెమ్మ అనే ఒక శక్తివంతమైన పాత్రని సృష్టించడంలో రచయిత చక్కని కృషి చేసాడు.
