Adam Reece, Alpha of The Black Paw Pack, follows all the rules but he can’t resist teasing Katherine Moon. Pack law frowns on wolves and witches mating so the resident Earth Witch has become his friend and confidant, nothing more.
Life is good. Kat’s blessed by the Goddess who connects her to the earth and the wolf pack she watches over, even the Alpha who only seems happy when he’s pestering her. But she wants more—namely the forbidden attention of a certain steadfast Alpha with a boyish grin. Too bad crossing that line isn’t an option.
When a tragic accident threatens to steal her from him forever, Adam must make the hard decision—save Kat or lose her forever, even if she never forgives him.
Adam Reece is the Alpha of The Black Paw Pack. He took over when his father was killed. Adam is attracted to the witch of the pack Katherine Moon. His day is not good unless he at least talks to her. Katherine Moon is the packs earth witch. She wants more of the alpha’s attention but pack law does not support a union between a witch and wolves. The chemistry between Kat and Adam is blistering. Adam saved Kat’s life even if she did not appreciate it.
Saving Kat is the first book in The Black Paw Pack by Ella Grey. I found this book well written. The main and secondary characters are interesting and engaging. At 45 pages, this book did not have the short story feel many book of the same size have. This book had a clearly defined beginning, middle, and end. I have read a few books by this author and I have enjoyed all of them. Overall, this was a great book and I can’t wait for the next book in the series.
Having had the pleasure of reading a few of Ella Grey's stories I have to say this is by far the best I have read so far. The romance between the two main characters is palpable and there is just the right amount of plot (quite a lot in fact) packed into what is a short story. Usually I don't enjoy stories where the characters have known each other for some time and have failed to get together previously, but the teasing and affectionate nature of their initial relationship and the twists and turns of the plot that change what they mean to each other were spot on. This is one successfully sweet story, the best thing about it though? The fact that it's the start of a series and there will be more to come.
Sarah's Review: Thanks to Decadent Publishing and Ella Grey for the chance to read this story. When the request was sent, this was my response: "Not a normal read of mine, but it caught my attention! Yes, please." I am not normally a paranormal/shapeshifter reader, but this caught my attention and I am so glad that I read it.
There was something about the blurb that grabbed my attention, then once I started reading, I couldn't stop. Adam and Kat's relationship begins as friends, but those around them can see that they each care more about the other than they care to admit. However, when something happens that can cause Adam to lose Kat forever, he realizes that he doesn't want that to happen.
Ella Grey did an excellent job telling Kat and Adam's story, I experienced everything with these characters, I wanted to laugh and cry and slap some sense into them! This was an amazing novella, it drew me in and made me want more, it was excellent for the story it was but I feel like there was more of a story to be told.
Kat survives a horrendous accident but may lose herself anyways. Adam makes a decision that changes everything and may ultimately cost him the woman he never realized he loved.
I will definitely be looking for the next book in this series.
This was my first time reading a story by Ella Grey, and I think this was a great place to start. The characters in this story were rich and well developed. I felt like I got enough information about them without going overboard. The setting was beautiful. You could almost smell the earth described in Kat's garden. I forsee this being just the jumping off point in a line of Black Paw Pack books, and I look forward to reading more. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
