For Dr. Holly Fisher, it is worse than a medical nightmare. The theft of her ovum from a fertility clinic is an ethical horror that puts her in the path of a man willing to destroy the laws of nature -- and anyone who opposes him.
This book is just really... painfully... mediocre. It's mediocre with spots of plain ol' bad. It's a book with a female main character written by a man, and you can tell. There's a point where some attractive woman talks to the main character, but don't worry, the main character is also attractive, so "they were able to interact as equals". The plot goes all over the place, there's a breakup at the beginning of the book that serves no purpose, I really don't understand why Holly didn't go to the police instead of diving into this ridiculous investigation herself--I never felt like she was an authentic character. I didn't feel like any of the characters were authentic. They were just kind of hollow vessels to carry a weird-ass plot. To top it all off, the writing style was hard to read at times, clunky and overwrought. The second sentence of the prologue is a run-on, for goodness' sake. Anyway, I wouldn't recommend this book.
I really enjoyed this book. I got it at a used bookstore and didn't look it up or read the back cover first, so I mistakenly assumed it was a vampire novel ... Which is why I bought it. About 50 pages in I realized it was indeed not a vampire novel but I was really enjoying it so I kept reading 😂
Anyway, the plot includes a woman seeking revenge after her ovum (eggs) were stolen and a huge mystery ensues that will take readers the entire novel to understand. I really had only a vague idea of what was happening. I just knew that this company was doing something with women's ova and that was about it.
Plenty of drama and mystery. He writes in such a way that you want to keep reading to figure everything out. Really glad I picked this one up. I actually bought another book of his before I even finished it.
A survivor of leukemia, Dr. Holly Fisher is ready to resume her life. Her first step: to have a child using eggs that were saved before she underwent the fertility-killing cancer treatment. But to her horror, Holly learns that her eggs have been stolen from the fertility clinic, taken by a man posing as her lawyer and armed with her death certificate.
Angry, hurt, and bewildered, Holly vows to track down the person who stole her most precious dream—never realizing that her attempts to make sense out of a mysterious theft will land her in the middle of a scientific and medical nightmare. An ethical horror that will put her and countless others in the path of a man willing to destroy the laws of nature—and anyone who opposes him...
My thoughts: Not one of my favorites. This one was a little bit too predictable and didn't hold my attention
It was good to find a mystry/thriller that only had one F-word in it and very few other curse words. It was a good medical thriller and kept you guessing until the end. Good easy read
