Starts off quite interesting with an unlikeable, but engaging protagonist, but loses steam very quickly. The message is a little hamfisted, the characters I didn't find very appealing (Katherine had some inexplicable mood swings, Ernie was all around unpleasant, and Stew and the "romantic"(?) tension were downright offputting to me) and the ending is a bit of a letdown in my opinion.
But, for something I got from the 30 cent bin at a used book store, it was not bad. Not a Robin Cook (coincidentally I got most of the ones I own from the same bin as well), but it was a fun, short read, and it filled a week worth of lunch breaks.
Er...I have no words! So truly awful and yet so weirdly entertaining. Medical thriller is a new genre to me. Will I ever read another? I honestly don't know.
One important point - this book is not about a pacemaker! Ha!
