George, a plucky would-be explorer with big Indiana Jones energy packed into a very small body, sets off to find the fearsome Yeti armed with nothing but a map, a woolly hat, and, crucially, a tin of spaghetti. What follows is a clever subversion of monster-hunting expectations, as the terrifying Yeti turns out to be not quite what George (or the reader) imagined. The lipstick reveal is a perfect comic beat, guaranteed to provoke giggles every time.
The rhyming text by Adam and Charlotte Guillain is sharp, playful, and perfectly paced for reading aloud. It has a strong musicality without ever feeling forced, making it ideal for repeated bedtime reads, something children will absolutely demand. The humour works on multiple levels too: younger readers will delight in the absurdity, while adults will appreciate the dry wit and gentle pokes at heroic clichés.
Lee Wildish’s illustrations elevate the story even further. Expressive, colourful, and packed with visual jokes, the artwork adds layers of comedy and charm that reward close attention. Facial expressions, body language, and small background details all contribute to the storytelling, making each page feel alive.
Beyond the laughs, there’s a subtle but lovely message about assumptions, kindness, and unexpected friendship. Monsters aren’t always monstrous, and sometimes all anyone really wants is a shared meal.

George has an adventurous spirit, and knows just what to pack for a journey to find a yeti. But the monsters he finds along the way are not yetis at all, all of whom have different advice on what to bring a yeti. A light-hearted, fun read.
Love the concept of this book! Great for working on rhyming with young children. I feel like it could have been executed a little better though. It could flow better in certain areas.
Nice story about a boy named George who wants, more than anything, to have lunch with a yeti. The rhyming text tells how George starts out with a right good will up the steep mountain path where he encounters three different monsters. None are his yeti but they each give him something to add to his food stash. But his stamina and spirits begin to bog down with every mistaken encounter. Will George ever have spaghetti with a yeti?
Another impulse supermarket purchase that came good.
George is a yeti fanatic, convinced that the yeti would like nothing more than to chow down on spaghetti. Cue George setting off on a mini adventure to find his hero and share a meal. On the way he bumps into various monsters who have their own thoughts on the yeti's tastes...
A fun rhyming tale that is still enjoyed a year after purchase- plus I like doing lots of silly voices!!
