A counselor once recommended this book to me, and years later I finally read it. It was recommended to me because I tend to try to do good works to receive grace, whereas the Bible teaches that grace is a free gift, given to us when we put our trust in Jesus. I think this quote nicely sums up the heart of this book:
"Once we are in Christ, guilt, condemnation, and self-despising are no longer intended to be our chief motivators for righteous living. It will take time to change but sooner or later, love is to become the motivating force of our Christian living" (Page 146).
