It’s been one year since Sara Montgomery’s life changed forever. One year since the sorceress Galatea returned, igniting a magical war. One year since Sara’s magic revealed itself, proclaiming her a Guardian.
Since then, there’s been no sign of Galatea, but Sara knows it’s only a matter of time and she and her allies need to be prepared. But following the loss of her amplifier, Sara’s magic remains weak, with no sign of growing stronger. Struggling to balance her life on Earth with her place in Wysteria, Sara also has to contend with her growing feelings for Felix, who is still dealing with challenges of his own.
Then, to make matters worse, Galatea returns with a powerful new ally in tow. With all hope of resurrecting her dead lover gone, she sets her sights on the Gates themselves—and the Guardians who protect them.
In this thrilling conclusion to the Guardians Duology, no one will escape unscathed and neither Sara nor Wysteria will ever be the same.
Rachel Terry grew up in a small town where nothing much ever happened, dreaming of grand adventures and far-away places, which she found between the pages of books. When not writing, she can be found reading, making YouTube videos, gaming with friends, or indulging in her love of history. She currently resides in the Midwest with her family and a cat named Crinkles.
Flameseeker is an emotional and enjoyable conclusion to the duology. The action scenes were intense, and I was really invested in both the main & supporting characters' goals. Wysteria is a very intriguing world, and I hope we get to visit it again in the future. Well done, Rachel! I can't wait to see what you come up with next!
Though I enjoyed the final battle I enjoyed the first book immensely more!
Sara finally getting the power to sword fight with Galatea!
Felix finally getting uncursed!
Damaris! My favorite character pushing her limits to defend wysteria keep her promise to Felix’s mom and protect her friends! I loved her depth of character in this book and it’s rare we get such a badass character that is still completely likeable in her badassery!
Terry has a talent for setting a scene and for world building especially within wysteria I loved the forest scenes and the library setting especially.
My issue with this book in comparison to the first was that the points of view were all over the place. in the other books I’ve read of Terry’s the povs were balanced a bit more seamlessly and I missed that in this book.
With so many characters I also think it is very hard to give all of them depth (it would also be a superrrr long book too if I’m being honest lol) but I would’ve loved more backstory especially for Felix!! Why didn’t we get the story of him and Venryk’s rivalry and how he got his scars?!? How did Lylla become queen?! I needed these details 😩
Felix and Sara’s romance wasn’t built up enough I loved them together don’t get me wrong but I think it needed to be built up a bit more for the I love you scene in the rain (which I adored 😍) to be more impactful
An exceptional Duology but book one has my heart! I’ll continue to support Rachel Terry’s future projects and give Flameseeker 3 stars

3.5, rounded up for GR. A satisfying conclusion to story began with volume one. This picks up only a short while after the previous book ended, with the same cast of characters. The setting and magic system were interesting, and the various battles with the villain kept things moving along. I did find myself wanting a bit more backstory for the various characters though, as well as some more lore and history of the world and why it was connected to Earth! I'm interested to see what else this author comes up (the Atlas Sea series looks intriguing!), so I'll definitely continue reading...
This book was definitely much better than the first one. I couldn't wait to get to the ending. I was hoping for more out of the female main character and the ending. Overall still really enjoyed the storyline.
