Based on the work of Carl Jung, the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is the psychological profile employed by thousands of professionals worldwide. Now, three Myers-Briggs experts show how individuals can use this revealing profile them to recognize their own work style, enabling them to overcome the obstacles of day-to-day tasks and successfully adjust to the constant changes in the work world.
Each personality typing book has something to teach me, and I love them all. What I liked best about this book were the nuggets of wisdom like “T” humor, which I am well acquainted with but now have a handy name for! I also felt like it did a great job of pointing out the ways in which time management and meeting styles often favor Js. Ps should not feel bad about their failure using planners and other systems.
Excellent reference for using MBTI at work. Lots of tables, charts, clear examples, and lists. Even though this book is 20+ years old, I just came across it and will be keeping it handy in the office. Would be a very good single book resource (there's footnotes, btw) for delivering a training workshop on creating more effective teams, leaders, organizations, and employees.
I read this book because I had added it to my to-read list. This must have been long ago, while I was still working. Possibly not too long after it was first published. While it might still have done me some good.
This book is about learning to use your psychological type to get your work done better, faster, more efficiently, and with less psychological pain. The authors specifically discuss using what you can learn about your psychological type using the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI®) assessment tool to refine how you interact with other people at your job. They indicate that you need to take the assessment and have it interpreted by a qualified professional.
My impression is that this approach is most useful in companies where everyone works closely together in teams, and where everyone has taken the type assessment tool, so they know how to work to improve their interactions.
I was interested in this read because of learning how to deal with my own work type and did the Myers-Briggs test over 2 years ago to see what major or career path I should go. Surprisingly I am already doing or finished the degrees that are for my type. Now I wanted to learn more of how my type operates in the work force. I bypass the scenarios which may be helpful in learning process, but really just writing down the things that apply to mines (INTJ).
Helpful in determining how your personality preferences affect you and others at work (and vice versa!). Familiarity with MBTI helps, but I don't think it's necessary to know in order to get something from the book. You'll find yourself in here, believe me.
