For the most part I really enjoy this series. Still, none of these have quite measured up to how much I liked IVAN.
I adored Sergei. I mean who wouldn't? A seven foot tall monster with a Russian accent. I'd climb him like a tree! That being said, the whole incident with the crazy ex where he doesn't bother to defend Bianca, and even gets on her case for being mean to the crazy ex, was an EPIC douche move. THEN, they go home and he starts telling her how she should really be eating better and being more healthy. Are you fucking kidding me??!! Bianca on the other hand was an OK heroine. I never really warmed up to her all that much. She annoyed me for some reason. I can't really pinpoint why...
I could have done without all the stupid OW shit. I didn't really need to know that Sergei banged two of the waitresses at Nikolai's club at the same time, and for fuck's sake WHY does no one feel the need to fire that stupid bitch of a waitress that is always messing with the heroines of these books?

This book was excellent! It was everything I was expecting and then some. Getting to book 5, you'd think these fella's would kind of start warming out their welcome....or get kind of tiring. Let me just clear that up for you: They Don't.
Sergei was totally heart warming...and alpha...and possessive...and totally lick-ably dominant. I was afraid with Bianca's history...and the fact she avoided him throughout some of the other books, that she would put up too much of a fight and hurt my poor Sergei. Alas, she didn't. She doubted it in her head a lot, but Sergei controlled her body and heart...and eventually her mind followed as well.
It was SUPER UBER Sexy HOT YUMMY and DELISH between these two.
Sergei was always a protector, so when he heard Bianca was having issues, he didn't delay in making sure his girl was taking care of. In between all the "bow-chickawowowow" and the "slurrppppppp...pop...yums" these two were perfect for each other.
There was one part, at the restaurant involving one of Sergei's ex's, that I did get a little disappointed in Sergei's response. For a few pages I was afraid my Sergei wasn't going to pan out to be everything my hoo-hoo and brain conjured him up to be. However, Sergei, being Sergei, rocked right through those walls and the rest panned out wonderfully.
I don't want to spoil anything about the story, so I'll end with this: if you've read this far into the series, you know what to expect and you know who Sergei is, so you KNOW you'll love it. If you haven't read this far into the series, I do not recommend you skip books. To really grasp the whole history these Russian's have with each other, you really need to start with book one and read straight through.
I totally recommend this hot Alpha read to anyone that wants....well....a hot Alpha Possessive read!

SPOILER ALERT!!!
You know what I say??? Fuck the male lead. He's trash. How are you going to let your girlfriend be walked all over by your ex and then try and "Fix it" with SEX... He didn't pay appropriately for his crime. This bitch ass should've been GROVELLING at her feet and REFLECTING.
Letting women touch him in the strip club was one f*cking straw for me already but this?????
And then he proceeds to bark like a f*cking DOG, at men who so as look at Bianca. I hate stories like this. I hate it so much.
Sex doesn't solve problems, sorry trashy romance writers, but I'm making it CLEAR to you because obviously reality fails you.
This just made Bianca look EASY. She let him throw the issue to the wind just like that.
And this guy still defended that uppity Lidia bitch even in their argument before sex. I'm fed up.
The girl walked all over Bianca because she knew the ML would let her. And he did.
I'm tired of these female leads that get walked all over for some 'powerful' dick of 'alpha' males. He's just a shitty person with muscles.
None of these guys pay for their mistakes and just fuck their 'bitch' and get free passes to forgiveness. They don't learn from their mistakes either.
I'm so over stories like this, it's sickening. Especially the ones where cheating is brushed over with a round of sex too or whispers of sweet nothings (I DON'T GIVE A RAT'S ASS IF YOU WERE DRUGGED, UPSET WITH YOUR GIRLFRIEND, DRUNK OR HIGH).
Writing this review enrages me even more thinking about all of these things. It's absolutely horrid that writers publish this kind of stuff and think that they can pass it off as romance... More like brainwashing and torture.
BTW, this is definitely not a strong female lead. No real girl accepts cheating, whether emotionally or physically, that's exactly what Mister FUCKING Sergei did when he put that Lidia BITCH before his own girlfriend.
Some might want to argue that he's a 'kind guy' or a 'gentle giant', nah, he's a fucker with playboy tendencies and has double standards.

I loved the whole series. This is book one, short and sweet. I love the Russian Protectors, they love and protect their women and put them and their safety above all else. The books however also have action and drama and absolutely riveting.
Sergei and Bianca this was my least favorite. It was still a good read but it was not as kick ass as the other stories. Bianca in particular got on my nerves, her man defends her honour after her ex calls her the most derogatory term in public and she wants to take issue with her man for defending her.......Please!!! Just my opinion still worth reading.

This series gets better and better!
I loved Sergei and Bianca.
They were one of the best couples of the series!
A bit "darker" than the previous books (apart from Nikolai) as we are getting more into the inside workings of the Russian Mob!
I love this series! I love the men! They find the one for them, and that is it! They are focused and so committed to it, no game playing or messing around!
Awesome series!

Aww...What can I say! I was absolutely enthralled by this book. This is my first read from this author; but It will definitely not be my last. Sergei is perfection; a bad boy with a heart of gold. He was such a sweetheart! Bianca fought for her man's freedom and won. That's what any woman would for the love her life. The love scenes were so erotic yet very loving and sweet. "I want me a Sergei!" ;-)

Score for the plus sized ladies in this romance! This is the fifth book in this series; however, it can stand alone. The story revolves around a very successful plus sized Black woman, Bianca and a rough and tough Russian named Sergei. Sergei has been waiting in the wings to make his love known to Bianca. Bianca is best friends with Vivian, the wife of Sergei’s boss. His boss happens to be the head of the Russian mob. Sergei is the head bodyguard of the Russian mob.
Sergei is absolutely an alpha male. Once he gets his chance to make his move on Bianca, he goes all of the way. He does not mince words about his desires. Sergei loves Bianca’s assertive ways in public; however, in the bedroom, he is the one in charge! The sex scenes are very steamy, yet well written and romantic. Bianca is self-conscious about her weight; however Sergei loves her curves and continually affirms his love and red hot desire for her. I really liked the way Sergei is hard on the outside; however when is comes to his plus sized lover, he is absolutely smitten. In fact, he believes that he is the fortunate one, because Bianca is sexy, assertive, and business-minded, unlike the needy skinny women who are always chasing him.
One of the obstacles to their love is that Sergei is “owned” by the Russian mob boss for protecting his family back in Russia. To pay him back, Sergei is an underground mix martial arts fighter. Bianca does not approve. However, Sergei must pay his boss back so that he can work on bringing his mother and brother to the United States. His goal is to pay his boss for his freedom and get out of the mob. He wants make a “clean” life with Bianca.
Another obstacle to their love is a racist skinhead group that is stalking Bianca. The skinheads believe that Bianca had the skinhead who killed her brother murdered in prison. Sergei vows to protect her. Also, a former boyfriend who happens to be a cop gives the two lovers grief by taunting Sergei. He tries to convince Bianca that Sergei is bad news. There are several really good scenes in the book in which the two discover each others’ painful past and current needs. There are good action scenes too.
Overall, this is a well-written novel with several twists and turns especially at the end. The book flows well and is easy to read. The ending was satisfying. I loved that the heroine was a plus-sized Black woman and the object of desire for a powerful Russian. Bravo!

Oh my, my, my, my, my...Sergei and Bianca their story was so amazing.
Sergei is the epitome of a gentle giant. He is courteous, loyal, kind, sexy, sweet, endearing, loving and fine as the dickens. Bianca is courteous, kind, beautiful, sweet, endearing, loving and loyal. You couldn't ask for a better couple than these too.
What I love about Sergei is that he will take you completely out of your misery for his family and friends. When it come to Bianca all bets were off, he didn't play games. He was completely upfront and forthcoming. He wanted Bianca and he wanted forever with her. Patient for his prize because he knew he was going to get his woman.
Bianca was a ride and die woman but she was afraid, afraid of it being too good to be true. Oh she wanted Sergei without a shadow of a doubt but his dealings scared her and well it should have because if it didn't then I would have been really worried.
I loved the fact of once they came together, it was solid as a rock between them. The love making was off the charts, Sergei is not a joke. He is a beast standing way over 6'5 mark. He is a wall of muscle from head to toe *If you know what I mean* Loving the fact of Bianca being a full figured woman who although there were some insecurities, she was who she was. A diva in style and in business.
I love the integration between Sergei and Bianca's mother it was just beautiful to see the mother and son relationship growing with them.
The things they have been through together, to hell and back. What they did for love or one another will beak your heart and then heal it again.
There will indeed be a follow up to Sergei and Bianca's story and I am super excited.

The author is ignorant.
I loathe mob stories but being that Sergei wanted out, I wanted to give it a chance. I also love the fact that Bianca was a fat woman.
There were a couple of things about the hero that I didn’t like but was willing to look past them. I also didn’t like the weakness of the heroine, but I stayed with the book.
I got to the 66% mark when I was fucking done.
Nothing pisses me off more than purchasing a book and investing so much of my time in it and then finding that I just can’t stick with it anymore.
At no time in the story did the author ever describe Bianca as eating in an unhealthy way, exhibiting other unhealthy behaviors, or any other issues like that.
Suddenly, the night after she was humiliated by one of his ex lovers… As well as him… But still slept with him like an idiot… The next morning has him explaining to her how she could eat better and exercise so that she’s around longer. That even though he likes her the way she is, she clearly needs to change.
The author just perpetuated stereotypes that all fat people are unhealthy, eat badly, and are not fit.
I want my money and my time back. I’m pissed off that I spent hours invested in a book that ended up being insulting, ignorant, and stereotypical.

This is the first book I've read in this series. It's not a series that I follow, but going by this book, I assume they all can be read as Standalones. I really enjoyed this read. I loved the dual POV's we get here, as well as the layers we are shown with the main characters.
Sergei is just... *sighs* and Bianca is such a sweetheart. I loved these two together. Their chemistry is white hot. Concerning the emotional as well as the physical.
The subplots give seasoning to this story, and the last 3 chapters were full of suspense. Had me on edge.
I would definitely recommend this read. I plan to tackle the rest of this series, in order, at some point :)

"No more, Bianca." He tossed the pillow onto the bed behind her. "We're done playing this game."
"What game?"
"The one you've perfected." He stepped closer, and her smaller hands flew to his chest. He could have easily overpowered her, but he immediately halted his forward motion. "Bianca, I would never use my size or strength against you."
"Sergei…"
"No." He placed a gentle finger to her mouth, silencing her rejection. "One kiss, Bianca. You let me kiss you properly one time. If you don't feel anything— if you really don't want me— I'll go downstairs and sleep on the couch. After I fix your door in the morning, I'll never bother you again."
Her perfect white teeth dug into her lower lip. Finally, she nodded. "Okay. One kiss."
I continued on my Roxie Rivera week-end marathon binge and read Sergei. Sergei ranks up there with Dimitri as my favorites out of Her Russian Protector series. I really enjoyed the story line which includes an interracial relationship, a BBW, and of course, a hot alpha Russian =) Let's not forget about the steam-I think these Russian men know how to do it right!

Heart racing, I gazed into his sincere face and realized he meant every word of it. He grasped my ass in both hands, pulled me forward and then pushed me back on his lap. "Fuck me, Bianca. It's your turn to make me come."
I was excited to see that the author will be continuing Sergei's story in a second book (although Sergie #5 should be considered a stand alone as it is a completely story).
I wasn't sure if I should have read Sergei first or In Kelly's Corner from the Fighting Connollys series because the books overlap. I couldn't find the suggested reading order. In Kelly's Corner was released before Sergei was but I ended up reading Sergei and then immediately following it up with In Kelly's Corner and that seemed to work.
Still considering this series a bit of a guitly pleasure but one I'm happy to take part in.

I continued on my Roxie Rivera week-end marathon binge and read Sergei. Sergei ranks up there with Dimitri as my favorites out of Her Russian Protector series. I really enjoyed the story line which includes an interracial relationship, a BBW, and of course, a hot alpha Russian =) Let's not forget about the steam-I think these Russian men know how to do it right!

I was excited to see that the author will be continuing Sergei's story in a second book (although Sergie #5 should be considered a stand alone as it is a completely story).
I wasn't sure if I should have read Sergei first or In Kelly's Corner from the Fighting Connollys series because the books overlap. I couldn't find the suggested reading order. In Kelly's Corner was released before Sergei was but I ended up reading Sergei and then immediately following it up with In Kelly's Corner and that seemed to work.
Still considering this series a bit of a guitly pleasure but one I'm happy to take part in.

I have fallen hard for another Russian. Better yet, I find myself eager to keep reading about fictional world Rivera has built.
As strong and loveable these Russian hunks are the woman are equally as strong and lovable. Ms. B by far is one of the stronger woman.

So far of the series this was my least favorite. I like Bianca and love Sergei in all the other books but for some reason I just didn't connect to him or them as a couple. It was still a good read and moved the story line along and you learned about all the back ground of the characters.

Sergei ha pazientato a lungo ma è arrivato il momento di fare la sua mossa e Bianca cede velocemente e ben volentieri. La strada per Sergei per uscire dalla Famiglia non è semplice e qualcuno dal passato di Bianca tornerà per mettere i bastoni tra le gambe alla coppia.
Sergei non è all’altezza di Nikolai, ma il libro mi è piaciuto e scorre via velocemente. Bianca poteva resistere un po’ di più ma al fascino di Sergei soccombe già alla prima sera.
Forse l’autrice ha buttato troppe cose per riempire la storia e si è un po’ persa sul finale.

I read and loved the first four books in this series but as often happens to me in the wait for the next book, in this case 'Sergei' I get distracted. I always intended to read this whole series but decided to wait until they're all available but the series is growing and I'm falling so far behind that I've decided to play catch-up.
It's been about two years since I read the previous ones so I've just re-read them all and I have to say I loved them just as much the second time.
Since there's already so many reviews I'll skip my usual summary and just give my opinion.
I loved both Bianca and Sergei, they work so well together. As with the other females in this group she's intelligent, kind and beautiful, Sergei is the gentle giant, at about seven feet tall he's intimidating and it's worked well for him but it's not the life he wants, he wants Bianca and a normal safe life but is it even a possibility for him?

I really enjoyed Sergei and Bianca's story. Though it is book 5, was the first I'd read in the series, and had no problem following along. Bianca is the only African American heroine the rest come from various backgrounds, but all the men belong to the Russian mafia. This was mob light in the sense there is action, but the story never goes too dark. Which make this an easy read for my friends reluctant to try crime themes that go too far outside the romance box. An interesting switch was the heroine being so financially independent, without making a huge deal about it. I know some of my fellow IR books fans are actively seeking these type of female leads.

Loved Sergei. A seven foot bear of a man with a soft heart that loves his mama!
Bianca was hard for him to pin down. He waited (faithfully) for five months for an opportunity and when he got it - boy did he take advantage! I loved seeing his vulnerability along with his toughness.
Bianca was just ok for me up until the end when she knocked it out of the park. For a change, the heroine got to save the hero and she fought for their future. I loved it!
They each had an uncomfortable run in with an ex. Not too bad but neither were pleasant. Overall very low angst.

I liked Sergei and Bianca as a couple but the story line was a little too rushed. I did not like Kevan's character at all. He was too whiny. It was good to see the other characters nicely represented as well. The only other downside was that Bianca's character went back and forth sometimes she was super confident and other times overly insecure. I'm glad they worked it out at the end and those two got their HEA

What the hell is up with these sexy Russian chaps, I don't know what it is but I'm infatuated with them!
This was a great read, it grabbed you straight away and kept you interested all the way to the end. I love big, scary, scowling men that can torture, mame and kill without blinking an eye but just go gooey gah gah when their woman is around.

Nel volume precedente, dedicato al boss Nikolai, avevamo avuto modo di vedere uno dei suoi fedelissimi e guardia del corpo di sua moglie, Sergei, provare ad avvicinarsi alla tenace Bianca, senza grande successo apparentemente. Certo, l’atmosfera tra loro era incandescente, ma Bianca era stata già scottata dalla violenza che caratterizzava il mondo della malavita in cui si muovevano Sergei e i suoi amici e, non aveva nessuna intenzione di avvicinarvisi di nuovo, nemmeno per l’uomo più sexy e premuroso che avesse mai incontrato. Così, mi aspettavo nel libro a loro dedicato, una bella lotta da parte di Sergei (che in fondo è proprio un lottatore!) per convincere la sua bella che lui non solo è degno di lei, ma vuole ben più di una botta e via.
" Sergei fissò il soffitto scuro e passò al vaglio tutte le motivazioni con cui avrebbe potuto convincere Bianca che si sarebbe potuta fidare di lui, e che sarebbe valsa la pena di infrangere le regole che si era imposta. L’aveva inseguita per cinque mesi senza nemmeno guardare un’altra donna. Se la sua ostinata determinazione nel conquistarla non fosse bastata, allora avrebbe fatto di più. Sergei aveva finalmente assaporato il suo paradiso personale, e non lo avrebbe certo mollato senza combattere. "
Invece, grazie al matrimonio di Erin e Ivan e alla complicità di Vivian, i due hanno un’occasione di starsene soli e appartati, e in men che non si dica la passione si incendia! Certo, non volevo un tira e molla infinito, ma questa resa così repentina (seguita ovviamente da una quantità spropositata di ginnastica da letto) mi ha lasciata di stucco lo ammetto, anche se resistere ben cinque mesi a un esemplare come il sexy Sergei è sicuramente un traguardo notevole!
Ovviamente tra i due non è tutto rose e fiori, Bianca si troverà suo malgrado in pericolo perché la mafia ha tentacoli ovunque e, chiunque vi si avvicini non può evitare di rimanerne avvolto; parimenti Sergei cerca di uscirne disperatamente e, inutile dirlo, ci riesce grazie anche all’aiuto dei suoi amici…
E qui ho avuto la seconda delusione, perché ciò che sembrava un’impresa titanica (e ricordiamo quanto duramente pagò Ivan e i tentativi disperati, ma inutili di Nikolai) riesce in maniera abbastanza liscia e tranquilla… tutto fumo e niente arrosto insomma (anche se apprezziamo il coraggio di Bianca, che si rivela una donna decisamente sorprendente!).
Al di là di queste note stonate, i due formano una bella coppia, la passione non manca, ma soprattutto è sempre una gioia vedere i nostri amati russi felici e felicemente accompagnati, che pian piano cominciano chi a sposarsi, chi ad allargare la famiglia, ma sempre insieme e uniti come il primo giorno. Tra tutti brilla sempre la coppia Nikolai & Vivian, paradossalmente quasi più come personaggi secondari che principali (ma spero di ricredermi nel secondo libro dedicato nuovamente a loro!).
Vivian al fianco del suo amato re della mafia, con la certezza di essere amata, sta letteralmente sbocciando, diventando sempre più sicura di sé e tenendo in scacco il suo stesso, spaventoso marito!
" Come una regina degli inferi, Vivian si alzò in piedi con molta calma e indicò il posto libero accanto a lei. Dopodiché tese la mano a Nikolai in un silenzioso invito a raggiungerla. Lui la fissò a occhi stretti prima che un impercettibile sorriso gli aleggiasse in volto. Nonostante il suo atteggiamento intimidatorio e spietato, era chiaro a chiunque li guardasse che Vivian ce l’aveva in pugno, corpo e anima.
Quando Nikolai si sedette accanto a lei, le avvolse un braccio intorno alla vita e la strinse al proprio fianco. Prendendole il viso con una mano, le sussurrò qualcosa che spinse Vivian ad abbassare lo sguardo in un atteggiamento quasi di sottomissione. Con un dito le tracciò il contorno delle labbra e poi le reclamò la bocca con un bacio terribilmente possessivo."
I prossimi della serie non ci regaleranno nuove coppie, ma esploreranno a fondo quelle già nate e sono molto curiosa di vedere cosa si inventerà l’autrice dopo il “vissero felici e contenti”.

Devo dire la verità, mi sarei aspettata di più da Sergei, lui la guardia del corpo lui l imbattibile guerriero, anche la sua storia con Bianca, troppo facile, non è che doveva essere complicata, ma mi sarei aspettata qualcosina in più. Insomma è stata troppo frettolosa la scrittrice su di loro. Quindi sapere che tra un po uscirà un altro libro su di loro, mi ha molto rallegrata

4.5 per questo quinto volume di questa bellissima serie! Ho amato la storia di Bianca & Sergei, oltre che ritrovare i protagonisti dei libri precedenti. Non vedo l'ora di leggere le prossime uscite.
