The God of Yes: How Faith Makes All Things New

Rate this book
The Christian life is often defined as "no." What starts with a desire to reject descructive things morphs into a "no" to people, enjoyment, laughter, pleasure, success, and ultimately life itself. Before we know it, we've reduced the Christian faith to a huge rejection of just about everything God has created. Is it any wonder why many in our culture think of Christianity and "no" comes to mind?
We need perspective. We need more than just "no." We need to experience a divine "yes" to all of life as a gift from God.
Ecclesiastes, through Solomon's journals, gives us a huge dose of reality. Solomon's entire experience is a counterintuitive "yes" to God and every aspect of life. It provides a framework for a faith that squares off with reality and finds it infused with meaning.
THE GOD OF YES will explore this counterintuitive approach and provide clear application on how faith can infuse meaning to the monotony of everyday life. It will flip Ecclesiastes upside down to show that it is actually affirming life in all of its parts with God at the center. It will challenge the reader that his or her life can look different even if nothing changes externally.

"Once again, the timeless wisdom of Solomon has scientific verification. People who consciously take time to savor the simple pleasures in life lead happier, more positive lives."

The God of Yes was an interesting nonfiction read. I enjoyed reading it and did highlight a few quotes, however it is not one I think I will reread. I did liked how the author wrote the book in a way that was easy to read and I also liked the layout of the book.

All in all, The God of Yes was a fine read.

*I received a complimentary eBook copy via NetGalley for my honest review. As always, all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.*

I listened to this book. Jud Wilhite has a soothing voice which made this book more like a 5 hour podcast episode. Primarily focusing on the teachings of Solomon in Ecclesiastes, Jud looks to highlight how God wants us to be happy and areas of our lives we can say "Yes" to him to experience that happiness.

I found Jud's examples very surface level and sometimes superficial, not taking into account the complexity of daily life. I will say, it was an easy uplifting listen. If you are looking for something deeper, the book will not do that for you.

I actually really enjoyed this one. Wilhite explores how God can move us from a place of hopelessness to joyful anticipation of what God can do in ANY chapter of your life. Admittedly, this is exactly what I needed. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is feeling frustrated and discouraged and is looking for a new perspective.

This book was given to me as a Good Reads Giveaway. I found the writing to be clear and very understandable. The flow and rhythm of the chapters moves very well. I was awakened to truths I had learned many years ago and had either forgotten or just not worked on.

Jud Wilhite guides the reader along the path of a positive relationship with God. His style is not preachy but an honest look scripture and how to apply it to the act of living life each day. I have been happily reminded that most of what we perceive as the world against us is actually us losing the focus that makes us whole. This book came to me at a time when I was just tired and angry with the things in my life that did not seem to work out the way I thought they should. I have been able to reclaim the strength and joy that fills my life when I put things in perspective. Thank you for sending this book to me.

This book does not offer answers to all the problems we face but it will give you a positive lift and remind you that many times life is what we put into it and even many more times it is what we do not put into it.

**I received this through a goodreads giveaway**
This was a good book, mainly talking about how to accept God's yes in your own life. It mainly talks about Solomon and Ecclesiastes. It would have been 5 stars for me if it used more of the bible. Overall good read.

Pretty basic in thoughts on life & the book of Ecclesiastes. Might recommend to someone who struggles in their perception of God as a "no" God or someone young in their relationship with Him, but I was disappointed in the lack of depth.

Great, positive reflections about the Christian faith and hope, easy to read and refer to often,as often in our fast paced secular world, our Christian heritage, without understanding and education, can also focus to the negative, and the positive messages get lost.
