Crazy in Love #1

Flirting with Chaos

Rate this book
Chaos never felt this good!

Warning: Adult only! This novel is Dark, Twisted, and really Sexy! Absolutely not for the weak at heart.

Blurb: Rain’s been washing blood off her hands for far too long. After five years, she accepts the fact that she’s still a little crazy but feels as if she’s finally gotten it all under control.

Parties, drugs, and sex flood Jude’s life, and music and scandal run through his veins. He’s the son of a rock god and grandson of a jazz legend. It's no surprise that his own star is on the rise, and with so many groupies vying for his attention, his childhood best friend Rain keeps him anchored in reality.

She’s nothing like him—an art student with no idea of her own beauty, who would rather curl up with a sci-fi novel than party in the spotlight. Everything changes when she asks him for a unique favor: she wants him to take her virginity. He’s more than willing to oblige, but things get complicated when his pervy father gets involved. Meanwhile, intense feelings rise to the surface, ones neither Rain or Jude are prepared to deal with.

If their relationship has any chance for survival, she must finally confront the demons of her past, and he must face the addictions of the present. When the smoke clears, will they find that sex between best friends was a good idea, or will they discover they had been Flirting With Chaos the entire time?

"I would take my time and go so slow so you could
feel every push and pull within you, each lick,
and every caress.  I'd set your skin on fire."

Review
I'm not exactly sure how to review this book - I LOVED the book and the story behind it, but I spent most of the book soooo pissed off at Jude, I couldn't get past the asshole that he was.

This book has some dark moments but it's not bad - there are a few taboo scenarios that will either have you cringing or creaming your panties!

The only thing I would change about this book is more of a revenge toward Jude - I think maybe Rain should have run further and spent a longer time away from him without him knowing how she felt, but then I can see the author's POV in not letting that happen because Jude would have probably gone in such a downward spiral that he wouldn't have been able to get back up. So, I take that back - Sorry, Kenya! :-)

Damn...I want to say so many things about this book, but I know it will give too much of the story away.....hmmmm? Shit...I want to tell you everything but I know I can't.....so here are the cliff notes.

"Before you're drowning with nothing around to save you."

"If it's not me hurting you, then it'll be Jude."

Rainbow comes from a family where her Dad was part of a band and was best friends with the lead singer, Kaden (Jude's father). Rain is tormented about her past and what she had to witness throughout her childhood and especially one devastating night.

See, Rain had to kill her Dad (*shhh you learn that in the Prologue)

She is still a virgin on her 21st birthday and wants her best friend, Jude to take it especially since she has been secretly in love with him her whole life. There are a few obstacles in the way though...Jude is a man whore and a musician just like his father - he is also her best friend and there is a cock blocker in Jude's house.

"I can see us having a good life one day, if we can
clean up all of the blood from the past."

Jude and Rain are both tortured souls and either they are drowning in each other's problems or drowning in each other's love. Jude can't keep his dick in his pants and pulls away from Rain while she continually gets her heart broken. The biggest problem is that Jude tells Rain they are not a couple and she can be with whoever she wants, but every time a guy gets near her or shows any interest in her whatsoever, Jude flips out......what a freakin' hypocrite he is!

We all know he loves her but is he capable of saving himself from all the drugs, parties, groupies and especially himself?

During all of this, Rain deals with the tragedy from her past. She talks about her mother as if she is still alive, she has night terrors and sees blood all over the place.

She is living with the guilt and torment from her past, but does being around Kaden and Jude help that or does it only make it worse?

Jude and Rain's story is one of tragic love......will there be a HEA?

Wrap Up
This is a story that I can honestly say, I have never read before - we don't just have a tragic love story, but we have torment, friendship, mental illness, PTSD, hot steamy sex, and so much more wrapped into 256 pages!

*** Dark Erotic Romance

“Sometimes it’s okay to kill, if you’re saving someone else in the process, Rainbow.” Dad wiped my tears from my face with bloody hands. “Go ahead, sweetheart. Do it for Daddy. Pull the trigger.”

And I did.

This isn't your mother's romance.

It's a deranged adventure through twisted addictions that arouse the body and mind. . .

Swim at your own risk.

Rain: artist, mentally stable

Jude: future rock star, sober

Our bodies formed into one entwined link, one grinding sensual movement of skin upon skin.

Laboring breath skimmed across shivering flesh. Sculpted muscle molded against stiff nipples. The area between my thighs knew no pleasure till that moment.

We collided, and all I could do was hold on.

Jude dominated me, and he did it in the most delicate movements--tortuously slow.

He took his time.

The piano played, the notes mingling with the sweat of our sex, the crashing of the waves, and the sound of my cries.

Dear God, he took his time, until flickers of an orgasm turned into a bomb of passion that detonated inside and exploded through me.

Mayor spoiler ahead.

This was such a weird story some parts of it I was completely hooked on and some deeply disturbed by but couldn't stop reading it. The main love interest is Rain and Jude and the tension was definitely there and I enjoyed their banter and sexy playfullness. Also the whole mystery revolving Rain's father. However the mayor spoiler here is that the whole book alluded to another "love" or at least "banging" partner. But in the end it did not happen.well I'm glad it didn't go there, I'm still very confused on that whole subplot. It wasn't "light" by any means and was a big part of the story. Not sure if the couple will continue on with another book. But I'm kinda scratching my head as to why all that sexual tension was there, can't really see a reson other than for "sexy chock value"
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

I think what bothered me the most about this book, was that she had a crush on both Jude AND his father.

"Wish I had a formula or pill or song or anything to make whatever you deal with go the fuck away."

These lyrics remind me of their story

" I can fly
But I want his wings
I can shine even in the darkness
But I crave the light that he brings
Revel in the songs that he sings
My angel Gabriel
I can love
But I need his heart
I am strong even on my own
But from him I never want to part
He's been there since the very start
My angel Gabriel"

What the hell was that… ?

Ok, that was reaaaaally messed up. Half the book, I was like “Are they serious right now ???” Jude’s dad was just creepy and weird, the conversations between him and Rain made me wanna puke. I mean, the car blowjob and the discussion just after ?? That was so not normal !

I think Jude and Rain were immature and didn’t know what they wanted. And Jude saying he wouldn't care if she hooked up with his dad ?! Even if it’s a lie and he wants to hide what he really feels, you don’t say this kind of things… It is just weird to read and it would never happen in real life. And fucking some random girl with just one wall separating you from the girl you love ? Yeah… messed up again.

That book was just a little bit too weird for me…

5 fck me sideways stars!!!

Warning: Adult only! This novel is Dark, Twisted, and really Sexy! Absolutely not for the weak at heart.
First,I need to warn you that this book ain't gonna work for everybody. If you're easily offended and can't stand some twisted stuff...nope,you'll gonna hate it!

OMG,this was one hell of a disturbed book!
Disturbing on so many levels that I don't know where to start reviewing it! And FYI, I loved every page of it!
Weird is just my thing, and I didn't really came up on book that's too weird for my taste...yet!

description

So...Rain is a young girl with disturbed past.
And when I say disturbed, I really mean it! Believe me!
She is daughter of famous rock star and a Miss Jamaica and she grew up surrounded with sex, drugs and alcohol.
Jude is her best friend in whole world.
He understands her cuz his parents are equally disturbed as hers. Their fathers were in rock band and they grow up together.
I just love their relationship. It's easy and honest and intense...
and I love how they work together and how they banter...
Jude is manwhore and Rain is virgin, and she wants him to pop her cherry. Yup,that sums it up.
But,there is his weird father, who is like an uncle to her and also wants to pop her cherry too now when she's all grown up and curvy...and I almost though that she will let him.
Yup,disturbed as fuck! Told you!

description

I really enjoyed reading this book.
I giggled like a schoolgirl almost the whole book.
And since I didn't laugh so much in a while, just because of that, I give this book a straight 5 stars!

"Reader received ARC in return for an honest review."

Flirting With Chaos is the first novel that I read by Kenya Wright and it absolutely BLEW ME AWAY! Her writing is beautiful, the imagery is captivating and the symbolism is incredible! This novel is about Rainbow (Rain) Kenner and Jude Everett, lifelong friends who fathers (Jack and Kaden) are founding members of the band Depraved Minds. They lived the stereotypical rock star lifestyles of drugs, women and excess and because of this, both Rain and Jude are broken. Jude, who is following in dad’s footsteps of sex, drugs and rock and roll while Rain is still reeling from the deaths of her parents and has always tried to stay out of the limelight and go in the opposite direction, to be a “good girl”. However, they both desperately need each other, like one needs blood coursing through their veins and water to survive.

Rain has a very important favor to ask Jude that can really change the dynamic of their relationship forever...she wants Jude to be her first. The way Rain “presents” her idea to Jude is rather unique and, unfortunately, the request is also heard by Kaden whose home from tour. Seeds of doubt are planted in her head by Jude’s father in regards of her wanting Jude to be her first. “I just want to stress that my son may not be the person you should choose to lose your virginity to.” “Oh.” ...“Do you have someone else in mind?” ...I’m just thinking that your first time should be with someone you love.” “I love Jude.” “Not the way you should when you’re giving away something so precious. Jude loves you but not the way a man loves a woman, or am I wrong about this?”

This story is not just about how this request could possibly change their lives, but in the end it could just help them face their personal demons as well as their pure love for one another!

From the very first page, this is not a typical love story. It's a hard read but let's face it, anything worth having requires work! I highly recommend this book and hoping to a continuation of their story!

WTF did I just read? Ok... I will start with the good. I loved the characters. I really did. Rain and Jude both reached me. I did not enjoy a lot of aspects of the plot. It's a personal preference. I do not like heroes who continue to sleep with other women while they're sleeping with the heroine. I know there are books I've raved about on my list that say I'm lying, but it did not work for me here.

I will share more, but only as a spoiler and it's a spoiler for sure so don't be pissed at me if you click it and it spoils it for you.

I felt that they really loved each other, but his actions just went too far for me. The way he behaved up until the end of the book was just a deal breaker for me, I'm afraid. It was a 1-2 stars till then. I did like the end at least.

As soon as I started reading this book I was captivated! It was real, raw, hot, and mysterious!! I loved the connection between Rain and Jude. The love and friendship they have between each other is one of a kind. They both have a damaged past that links them together, and together they gain strength and can help one another overcome their demons. They have A Love that overcomes! Cannot wait to read more from this author and hope to read more of Rain and Jude! I'm having major withdrawals!

This book was a seriously messed up trip, so of course I loved it!

Rain and Jude have known each other for most of their lives. Both of their father's were members of a legendary rock band. They were next door neighbors and they were living the dream. Until one night Rain's father died. Since then, Rain just hasn't been herself.

Jude is the bad boy son of a rock star and grandson of a Jazz legend. He is set to have an epic career. He and Rain have been best friends forever. So when Rain shows up on his doorstep on her birthday and asks him to take her virginity, he is taken aback.

Jude and his father have a highly unusual relationship. Some would call it progressive, some would call it seriously messed up. Jude has learned to cope. He finds solace at the bottom of the bottle or in a pill.

But Rain is not all she seems. She isn't as put together as everyone would like to think. Jude knows the truth, and he may be the only one who truly understands.

When Jude agrees to help Rain, he has no idea how far he will fall.

Rain needs to be saved from her fear. Jude needs to be saved from his addiction. In the end, they may have to save each other.

This story took a lot of bizarre twists and turns and I loved it. This is not a cut and dry love story. It is a little dark and twisted. It is also an amazing tale of redemption and true love.

I would categorize this book as a New Adult romance. Jude and Rain are both just finding their way in life. Rain is the virgin and Jude is the ladies man. There was a slow sexual tease at the beginning of this book that built to a climax. And when it peaked, it exploded!! HOT!

Jude is dealing with issues of a burgeoning addiction. Rain has demons in her head that she has been running from. They both live a life of excess. There were definitely some very dark moments, but there were also a lot of very tender and sweet moments too. The dialogue was amazing. The writing was outstanding. The characters...brilliant.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a story that doesn't quite fit into any molds. I thought this author did a superb job of making this amazing story come to life.

4 Stars!

3.75 "We're not most people. We're just Jude and Rain." STARS

I am a sucker for best friends = lovers.

 photo rain1_zpsesnch5wv.jpg

Especially the younger when they meet the better. The type that no one, not even the opposite sex can keep them apart. Yes, I'm a sucker. Well Jude and Rain are extremely close, knowing each other from a young age being their fathers were friends and what "fathers" they were. The prologue is one that makes you very curious and you can't wait to find out what happened, that being said, it just didn't interest me that much. The perv of a dad was uncomfortable to say the least and I didn't feel there was much to this. I absolutely hated the song Apple, just plain weird. That whole part was I'm sorry...corny. The ending surprised me, I have to say that little twist I did like and of course what a best friend Jude is, exactly what I want in these types of stories.

Do I feel I wasted my time? Not at all, just wasn't spectacular or fulfilling for me.

Well, this was a kind of ... different plot?? I am used to read dark, erotic, BDSM, Stockholm syndrome books, etc. However, this one had a mix of depravity, perversion and taboo that caught me by surprise.
It is a story about two childhood best friends with famous and rich parents and they all live in a world of sex, drugs and rock and roll, in other words: a wild life.
The only thing that I didn't like was that I felt it happened all too fast, from best friends to lovers. It was missing a bridge there for me, but perhaps it is just me...So, I am not so sure how to rate it. I read it yesterday and I went to bed with the intent to wake up with this all sorted in my head. I only wish...
So, I thought, and thought, and I have decided that I will consider the entertaining factor in all this to rate this book and I will go for a 5 Stars rate, because the all time that I have spent reading this book, not for a single moment I thought in look for another book, start to read another one, or even read a few blurbs. Things I use to do when I am reading a book. It kept my full attention until the very end. This is a very great achievement from the author, keeping my 100% concentration.

When I started reading this I was confused by the description dark and twisted. I was contemplating putting it to the side. By a quarter of the way in I felt icky, so of course my depraved mind wanted to know where she was going with it. By half way in I was convinced: THESE MAIN CHARACTERS ARE CRAZY.... THEY CRAZY. This kept me thoroughly roped in and I was always on the edge trying to figure out Rain's secrets. I needed to know what happened that night. I have to admit I had to get used to the writer's style, but by the last page I was hooked on Ms. Kenya Wright's work.

I almost made the mistake of not reading this amazing book! I was hook from the very first paragraph. I have to admit I was a bit disturbed about the possibility of Rain hooking up with both father and son, but the book was too good to stop reading. I had to know if she was actually gonna hook up with both of them and what happened to her dad that night! Rain and Jude made a beautifully damaged couple and I loved every minute of their story! Kenya Wright is an exceptional writer, her writing style just sucks me in. This is the second book I've read by Wright and she is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors.

Im not really sure how to rate/review this book. While I was reading I was so disgusted/pissed off at Rain, Jude, Kaden, and Vicky that I wanted to just return the book without finishing the story. BUT I just couldnt bring myself to NOT finish, as f*cked up as these characters are, I just had to know how everything was going to turn out.

Rating: 3.5 stars

I wish I could go 4 stars because I am still thinking about this book and these characters and Im not sure why! But there is something stopping me and Im just not sure what it is.....Hope that makes some type of sense..

It started well enough. Half way through, I noticed it was repetitive and just lacked character development to make me connect. The back story that I guess is supposed to humanize the heroine and hero came off as pretentious. I did not enjoy the back and forth in regards to their feelings because the basis was unrealistic. I skimmed towards the end. I will be avoiding this author from now on because this is the third book I have read from her that I did not enjoy.

I just sat here looking at my keyboard for the last 15 mins trying to figure out how in the hell to write this review. I want to warn all those reading my review in advance... I have no clue how to word exactly how I feel after reading this book... BUT know that I will do my best.

First I think it should be noted that this is sort of a dark book with a unique love story... a very insane, complicated, confusing, and intense love story nonetheless. I laughed after reading it because I've always wondered what would happen if place two equally insane people together... what would you get... well... you would get this book.

I am going to rock the hell out of this review without spoilers...

Jude and Rain are besties... I think that is clear from the blurb, however wtf the blurb failed to add is the level of insane shit that would be included in this damn book.... actually you know what I have read some pretty trippy books and this one tops the hot damn cake because until you reached the very end you spend your time trying to piece things together let me tell you in advance.. don't even waste your time trying to figure this shit out because you can't...until everything is made clear your mind will try to figure it out... but nope you will be wrong and completely overwhelmed... and then if you are anything like me, you will go back to the first couple of chapters and think... oh hell yeah this book is insane.. chaos... perfect freaking name for this book.

There are so many different things at play in this book, that you you laugh ( T-bone actually made me laugh the most and jude is pretty damn funny at times) and then you want to cry, you feel sad and confused but overall it is sort of overwhelming and frustrating because you really just want to know wtf happened in great detail... so with all that being said... or not being said because I won't spoil it this was a pretty good book BUT

I hated the ending.. I felt like it wasn't a true ending.. like maybe there will be a part 2.

Signing off... next level crazy

Deep, gripping, twisted and chaotic, Rain and Jude’s story is remarkable. If you have yet to learn that we are a product of our environment then look no more! Music, in all its beauty, has the ability to touch millions. Music is a powerful tool for the masses, but why does it bring so much pain and suffering to the people and families that create it?

The connection between Rain and Jude is painfully commanding. They anchor one anther while fighting with personal demons that would bring the strongest of men to their knees. While the story is captivating, the level of deep symbolic meaning oozes from the pages. I felt like my 10th grade English teacher was going to pop out and ask me what the author meant by the color red. He really did that ya know!

When this book was first presented to me I was like ummm... I love ya and all, but this is not the book for me. I read it anyways because you have to help your peeps out, and I am thrilled that I did. The writing was well crafted and with a flipping twisted ending that hit me like a mac truck! You will want to add this to your TBR list. I must warn that you will want more and I am happy to report that a second book is in the works. Rain and Jude are two complex characters that demand attention and you will be looking for an encore performance.

Wow,this is one uniquely dark and twisted psycho-sexual extravaganza.Rain and Jude's singular connection is a supremely complicated and co dependent one .It is debauched and yet also true, sweet, uplifting , life-changing and transformational. Part of the taboo plot involves bizarrely close connections between father, son and Rain. Some reviews bemoan that she crushes on both men.Not quite accurate. While she crushed on the father when a teen, she currently battles a purely a sexual attraction and although wildly sexually attracted to Jude, their relationship is multifaceted and has origins that are convoluted and complex and that goes far beyond the physical. I simply could not extricate myself from the grip of this perversely ,erotic and oddly emotional tale, nor did I wish too.Highly recommend to my fellow deviants...you know who you are...xx
