〈忍耐箱〉
一把大火燒毀了糕餅店近江屋，昏迷不醒的老闆娘緊抱著一只黑盒子。
忠心的女傭交代倖存的小姐阿駒絕不可打開，否則會發生不幸。
阿駒驀地想起，曾在夜裡窺見爺爺和爹娘對著黑盒子低喃「忍耐、忍耐」……

〈仇家〉
廚師加助三度遭人刺殺，雖然是在夢裡，鮮血的觸感卻揮之不去。
於是，他決定請鄰居的浪人充當保鑣……

〈帶進墳墓〉
膝下無子的市兵衛夫婦收養了三個棄兒，
度過十五年的幸福歲月後，其中一對兄妹的生母忽然出現，
眼看就要揭穿平靜生活下的種種謊言……

〈陰謀〉
丸源大雜院的管理人黑兵衛，橫死在一名落魄武士的屋裡。

Miyuki Miyabe (宮部みゆき Miyabe Miyuki) is a popular contemporary Japanese author active in a number of genres including science fiction, mystery fiction, historical fiction, social commentary, and juvenile fiction.
Miyabe started writing novels at the age of 23. She has been a prolific writer, publishing dozens of novels and winning many major literary prizes, including the Yamamoto Shūgorō Prize in 1993 for Kasha and the Naoki Prize in 1998 for Riyū [The Reason] (理由). A Japanese film adaptation of Riyû, directed by Nobuhiko Obayashi, was released in 2004.

Read the whole book in one sitting. Not the best way to read the book as the stories got repetitive after a while. I started getting the names all confused.

日本创作人的脑洞大是众所周知的。宫部小姐当然是其中的佼佼者。这本小说的背景是古代，描述的人性也朴实得合乎时代的背景。短短的文章，充斥了刻画得栩栩如生的民众，他们那些奇幻而悲惨的命运，让人读之鼻酸。我觉得堪忍箱映射着“秘密”，而“秘密”就是贯彻每篇小说的主题。每个秘密的主人都以不同的理由去背负着沉重的箱子，这些秘密也改变了他们命运的轨道。
