Whore

Rate this book
Can a virgin be a whore? I guess it depends on your definition of the word. Working a minimum wage job, I was struggling to save up money for college. Things were tight but I was managing to scrape by. At least I had a roof over my head, right? Wrong. My mother was moving on to husband number five and decided to sell the house without giving me notice. The bank took care of that with a thirty day grace period.

Taylor Ross walked into the coffee shop where I worked and offered me the perfect solution. His father was a regular customer and apparently thought highly enough of my service to mention me in his will. I couldn't just take money but when offered me a job with a great salary including room and board, how could I refuse? I didn't know at the time just what services Taylor thought I'd offered his father.

He wanted me to embrace my inner whore and in return my financial worries would be over. There was only one problem. I had no idea what that meant. Taylor was willing to train me, so the only real question was what was I willing to do to have everything my heart desired?

Cheesy story but fun, quick read. News flash: rich billionaire into BDSM and poor virgin storyline is a bit tired and overdone. I would recommend if you find it on sale for .99 or when it becomes a freebie.

I give this book 3.5 stars. It wasn't fantastically awesome, but it was definitely nice to read a sure thing. You know?
What's it about? Our hero and heroine meet because the hero's father listed the heroine in his Will. The hero goes in search of this woman, sure that one of his many trysts weaseled her way into his Will.
Who are they? Our heroine, Laura, is one of those just too sweet to toot girls. She's been ignored by her mother in the TLC department pretty much her whole life. Not just in TLC either, financially as well. She's always finding herself with yet another monetary set back because her mother took off again with husband, 4, 5 or 6.
Our hero, Taylor, is in charge of a billion dollar company that railroad's financially drowning companies to sell off to him so he can take their business and make it bigger, better and HIS.
He has the whole, mine, mine, mine thing going on and not just in the boardroom, but the bedroom as well.
What happens? Once Taylor confronts Laura at the coffee shop and tries to talk to her about taking the money, she refuses. See, Taylor's father took Laura on as the daughter he never (I guess) had. He was always in the coffee shop, helping her through her issues with her mom or just being a shoulder to lean on. He was always trying to help her financially so that she could finally recognize her dream and go to college, but Laura, being the goodie girl that she is, always refused - not ever wanting to take advantage of their friendship.
So Taylor keeps making all these snide remarks here and there, pretty much letting the reader know he's onto her game and know's she slept around with the old man to keep her pocket's filled, but Laura, with her virginal ears doesn't pick up on it, just think's he's odd. Since Laura doesn't want any part of the Will, Taylor makes her an offer with his company. She can come work for him and earn the money from the Will within her salary, so that she feels comfortable taking the funds. Laura likes this idea and the plan to meet again later the next week.
This is the part where, when Laura gets to the office, finds that he expects her to pretty much be eye candy at all his meetings and seduce the old guys from the companies he's trying to buy out. He's calling this position his "Personal Assistant". He tells her that she will be at his beck and call whenever, wherever and however he deems necessary.
Blah, blah, blah...he buys her tons of shit....they go out of town, he's a dick, she gets in over her head and they start making out. He finds out she's a virgin and decides to take it and her as his own. He has a fetish for tying up, and the sex between them is hot. There are a few places where, because the author tried to be so detailed in the sexual positions, that were confusing and dampened the vibe (ta-hehe). For example there were a couple parts that said something like " he rolled me underneath him and then I began to ride him sitting up" ummm...ouch for Taylor. There was something similar in the next paragraph. I guess you could say it was all in one scene, but it just bugged me.
Any who, so it was a good book. It was your basic "poor girl meets rich man" scenario, but that just never gets old to me. Keeps me sane in my angst riddled reads.
I do recommend this book for something hot, short and sweet to read. Especially if you like the whole devirginilization thing. I'm not sure if that's a word, but it's definitely an exhilarating process to read about.

ARC provided by the author in exchange for my honest review

The blurb for this book had me reminded of the Harlequin and Mills and Boon of old with the innocent virgin corrupted by the rich powerful man vibe, but this is a modernised version of that plotline. It is of a similar route of the FSOG, so I knew I was in for a good escapism with a sexy billionaire and his young attraction with plenty of raunchy sexiness thrown in. I was not disappointed!

Laura is working hard at a local coffee shop to earn money to get her to college. She has recently been given an eviction notice of 30 days to vacate her home by her not so caring mother who is currently on her way with her fifth trip down the aisle. So to say she is grasping at straws to get out of this predicament is saying something. Then in walks the tall and sexy hunk who wants a private word. Things are looking up.

Taylor is the son of Lenny Ross who was an old customer Laura has not seen in the coffee shop in a while. He was a true friend offer her advice in the only way a true old gent can. She is saddened to hear from Taylor that Lenny has passed away but surprised and shocked he has also left instructions for her to be taken care of in order for her to fulfil her dreams.

Taylor is the high flying rich billionaire who is none so happy to be carrying out this request for his deceased father, especially to one of his young flings he is faced with. How could his father do this to his mother with one so young? He is surprised when she does not take up the offer of money but she is happy to accept a job in order to earn her way. The offer is more than 3 times what she earns at the coffee shop so this would help her to get to her dreams of study much quicker. Little does she realise what is in store for her as the private assistant of Taylor Ross.

I was initially confused why a high flying executive would offer the job as his PA to one so young and inexperienced, but then it became clear just what she would be helping him with. At first I was huffing and sighing at the absurdity of the proposal but then I just became hooked on Taylor Ross. It became apparent he was surmising his father’s relationship with Laura totally wrong and making all kinds of assumptions about her until it becomes too late for him.

I liked that Laura wasn't a total innocent and that she fought her battles wisely for one so young. She clicked onto what Taylor was about and still went ahead (sometime unintentionally!) with his outrageous requests.

The erotic scenes were steamy and had me hanging onto the kindle button, flicking through them at a fast pace. Some also had me screwing my eyes up thinking ‘Oh no she did not just admit to that, how embarrassing’ but then those were parts that illustrated some of the immaturity of the character.

However I did enjoy this read and it give me a quick fix for a little erotica with a decent, if not original, storyline. The characters were likable, the relationship build up engaging and with a little bit of angst thrown in, this book delivered exactly what it endorsed. A hot erotic read.

ARC Was Given To Blog For An Honest Review

I think I might have burns on my thighs from rubbing them together; this story has some really sexy explosive sex. This is a very quick read so it does not drag out at all. Surprisingly to me it did have some really well developed characters for such a short story. I am not going to get into a lot of detail about the characters since the synopsis fills you in enough.

I will say that the title is not what you think. This story is not about a prostitute. The author is trying to answer a question. Can a virgin be a whore? I think the author really did an amazing job with finding the answer here. I also believe you will enjoy reading it to find out the answer. The book has a very light BDSM quality to it. Taylor is sex on a stick and very alpha. Laura is a young lady with little experience when it comes to men, but a lot of hard life experiences. I love that she is a strong determined woman with a lot of fire.

I only had a few little issues with the book. I could see that Laura and Taylor were falling in love. Taylor does not do relationships but his actions and words tell you otherwise. The ending really shocked me and I was left a bit unsatisfied. I felt it was a bit unrealistic knowing what type of woman Laura seemed to be. It made me question the word whore in a different way than the author was asking it. When you read the book, you will understand what I mean. I cannot go into it further because that would ruin the story for you.

I really wanted to be there for the reveal when realization of love hit them. I wanted it concerning mostly Taylor. The author did put in an epilogue that I believe she thought would appease the reader. Unfortunately for me it did not have the impact the rest of the story had on me. Don’t get me wrong, I really loved the story as a whole, but after all that build up and such a great beginning and middle I was left feeling deflated with the end.

Our 3 Star Review

Laura works at a coffee shop when she is approached by the son of a man she became friends with. When he tells her she was left in his will she refuses his money and instead they make an arrangement when she will work for him. As she begins her new job though she is finding him to be a contradiction, some good some bad. When her attraction to him becomes too much she agrees to let him have his ways with her including being her first. After they share a romantic weekend though a truth about what Taylor thought about her relationship with his father comes out she's left broken hearted and tries to pick up the pieces of her life. But Taylor comes back and tries to get her to change her mind about him and how he really feels about her.

This story had a great amount of potential, but once you got to a certain point it felt like it was rushed to get to the ending. The character's lacked the depth to make me really get into them and the story.

What this did have was some hot sex, the kind where you need a fan to cool off. Short read just wish there could have been more to the last few chapters

I don't know why is this book by Cara Faith Donvovan exactly the same with this Whore, are both the authors a same person in reality? Otherwise, it's only left with one conclusion that someone's plagiarist.

Anyway, about the book.
The story is a lil bit mainstream if I may say. A poor virgin met a handsome and rich sexy tycoon. A pure Cinderella story. Oh wait, since it's an adult version, of course the hero's kinky :))

So nothing much that I can say, but the author did a pretty good job with her writing style. The only thing I'll complain is the ending. Since Taylor couldn't have children (and why is that by the way??), Laura was okay with that because she loved him. What bothered me was the way it's described. Apparently, Laura's okay unable to have children because she's also happy she didn't have to share his husband's love. (Well, you could adopt a child, darling). Dunno..it just felt childish and cold to me.

Whore was a hot read! Taylor and Laura have obvious chemistry and when they are together it gets steamy. However, I think the characters could have used more development, and their story could have been better developed. Whore is a quick read, but it was also a very quick escalating relationship. There was not much substance to their relationship other than a wham, bam, thank you ma’am, and then suddenly the characters are in love. The story could have gone further and been more in depth. This isn’t a book I would recommend unless all someone wanted to read was a bunch of hot, dirty, sex.

Too short. The ending wrapped up too quickly for my taste and I really think the characters needed more time to explore their feelings for each other.
