This started out really basic, with the discussion beginning as if the reader had never heard of sewing machine. The tips were good but it would have been nice to have more color pictures/examples of the patterns that were shared. So many people are visual learners and it helps to have a picture; there were some in this book but not for everything and that is so important when beginning to learn sewing or similar skills such as knitting and crochet.

Every Beginning Sewer

Every beginning sewers need to get this book. So in depth to teachings of the sewing machines to maintenance to finished product.
This I would say is a book all home economic teachers would use for students. Every good book. I am in my 60's and read my books and grew up learning sewing, cooking and farming. Great book for anyone that wants to learn sewing.

I learned

Amazing! I've been sewing all my life, absolutely everything made of textiles, I've done it. I found this book while looking for inspiration, and I learned a couple sewing hacks. Also, this book is genuinely well-written. It's fun to read. No, really!

Not as basic or "everything" as I expected as a refresher and check in on what sewing instruction looks like in 2019. The old Singer or Sewing with Nancy books are better and stand the test of time.
