This book was GREAT. It was very funny and had a decent story line following characters that I actually cared about. The author has a sick sense of humor which I enjoyed! I recommend this book to anyone with a great sense of humor.
A guilty pleasure, this novel had me laughing out loud so often, I couldn't put it down. For that reason alone, I gave it five stars. Much of it is slapstick humor. Some might find the humor content offensive and it will probably be of more interest to a male reader, but it's a great escape read.
Alas I cannot give 2.5 stars, which would be a more reflective rating for me. This book was just kind of fine. I mean - enjoyable, but it honestly felt more like a film. I felt as though I couldn't quite sink into the book... it felt too smart, too dialogue-heavy, too self-reflective... or something. The closest I can explain: It felt like I was drinking with people I didn't know too well, who were all trying to one-up each other with their cool takes on life, relationships and theories on love. Like the literary equivalent of a movie you watch on Netflix on a Thursday night when you can't stand talking to one more person. And you're like, "Well that was fine," and then you move on with your life. Fine and good and totally ok.
I liked this and liked the final ideas of this...The idea that maybe waiting around for someone/something to make you happy is pointless because nothing will ever be perfect. I really liked his previous book, Booty Nomad, and my only disappointment in this book was that it was too much like Booty Nomad. It felt almost like reading the same book...The cool thing was that he had all of the same characters as Booty Nomad, so it was like seeing old friends from a while back.
This is one of the best books I've read in a year or two. It is funny with great dialogue and characters that I would hang out with. I also like the point of the book, it's a message that many people should take to heart.
