Well I now have a brand new way to make tacos, thanks to this awesome recipe book. I'm not surprised, considering that I swear by ATK's recipes for baked goods and regular goods (I used their turkey recipe for last Thanksgiving and it worked like a dream!) but I was very interested on their hot take with kids/toddler food. Recipes included an age range in the top right corner, and tips on how to serve each family style meal to each group of kids (separate out xyz for ___ age group etc...). I ended up making tacos (I used the recipe for beef and turkey to much success) and mini frittatas, and Stel liked all of them so much. Yum.
Great for new food ideas. Loved the pictures, and sections to let my child be involved in picking and trying new recipes. Checked out at the library and asked for it for Christmas!
This book helped me figure out how to make baby food for my 4 month old. That was super useful and I found I actually enjoyed making baby food fresh rather than buying the jars. I looked through it again now as my baby is getting older and sick of the purées. I’d say that overall this book is simplistic. Instead of recipes that I’d like to try, I think it was better about giving ideas for ways to make the food you eat approachable for little ones. There are some I want to make, but others not so much.
We continued using this book long after the binding came off from wear and tear. Amazing and fun recipes all around that consistently got my kiddos to eat.
The smoothie recipes in particular are awesome for everyone. It inspired my parents to get a blender of their own after enjoying the cherry almond and mango carrot smoothies.
The baby food recipes using basic equipment and tips and tricks have also been lifesavers while juggling cooking for and toddler and infant
This is a great book to purchase. it has very healthy recipes -- not just touting that it's healthy and then you see a bunch of added sugar, salt, and processed things. Has good science behind it and made sure the quality of the food is good for everyone to eat. It gives realistic expectations of meals with a large variety of cuisine.
Our go-to cookbook for our little one. From baby food to family meals we’ve had a lot of success with this cookbook. I cannot recommend it enough for anyone with babies, toddlers, and little kids at home.
I tried quite a few recipes from this when I had it from the library. Recipes are fairly easy and healthy, but my son didn't seem to like any of them. Maybe he's a picky eater.
Checked it out from the library to see if it was worth buying. It is! They have simple purees, multi food combination purees, finger foods, ideas for preschool+ lunches, a whole chapter on recipes for beginner "cooks" that kids can help with, and a chapter on celebrations with great ideas for easy kids party food. (I think there's another chapter I'm forgetting). Each recipe has symbols at the top to highlight allergens, quick recipe and/or freezes well and each recipe has several ideas for how to modify it or add various seasonings. There are SO many ideas that I never would have thought of and they've tested it out several ways (for example, some recipes work better with frozen fruit vs. fresh). Plus it's written in consultation with a pediatrician and pediatric nutritionist and full of education about feeding babies/kids. There's a whole section on baby led leaning as well, if you prefer that to spoon feeding. Often I find that I like a few recipes from cookbooks but most of them are too complicated or not my style; with this book, I honestly feel like I'm interested in and capable of making everything.
